NEVER pay a parking ticket unless issued by the council

    'NEVER pay a parking ticket unless issued by the council'

    I see this often on Facebook. People asking if they should pay up and the answer is always no.
    But... what we should be doing is refusing to pay unjust tickets issued.. by private companies AND those issued by councils. This has been lost in the debate and now people who admit they were in the wrong will still refuse to pay legit parking fines from private companies.

    No small wonder that the fines are so large for those that do cough up.

    There's a couple of MSE threads commenting on this case. A C&P comment about what happened was:

    It looks like her downfall (in excess of £24K) wasn't stating that "there are no private parking fines in Scotland" but maintaining from day 1 that she was driving in addition to parking somewhere where there were "No Parking" signs (on a pavement in front of some garages).
