Apparently we'll be getting this one next week, and then that's it...

I got something very similar from 'my lot' but they did offer me a £27 discount if I paid right away. I can't post them up as I've binned them. Interestingly they've had their license revoked by the BPA and another lot have taken over management of the parking on my development.

I went through all this with Apcoa, who do a lot of station car parks. Using the pay by phone you have to do at Oxford station I got my reg no wrong by one letter (awful mobile signal meant I couldn't hear the machine reading back to me). I wrote to them explaining and enclosing a copy of the online receipt and foolishly expected a "ok easy mistake" type of response. Oh no, a (clearly well used) reply telling me I should have checked the info properly, its my fault etc. I discovered the truth online and ignored them.6 letters (including a "solicitor's" "notice of intended court action" spread over 11 months. I told them is be happy to see them in court with my receipt and vehicle registration document - never progressed though. Apparently out of just over 2,000 appeals Apcoa had received, they'd allowed precisely 0% at the time!

The RAF museum has just started this. My youngest asked to go on Saturday, but by the time we arrived there he was sound asleep. So I parked in a spot and read a paper whilst he was napping. After about 30 mins, the car parky informed me that unless I bought a ticket (£2.50 for 3 hours) he would issue me with a notice.

I would have liked to tell him to go **** himself, but like a coward, I bought one.

You DO mean the RAF Museum at Hendon?

Crazy. They made entry to the museum free but are now charging for car parking?

    Yep.

And it's not Brent council nor the RAF Museum running it - althought it wasn't one of the usual subjects. I also noticed that disabled / blue badge holders have to pay the same rates.

EDIT: They've recently got a 'Lightning II' (although I don't know if it's real or a sales dummy) on display - (especially alongside the Meteor and Harrier) that looks really evil - a true death dealing machine.

nothing unusual about that, no reason they should pay any less.

Are you sure? I'm certain blue badges normally get a certain period of free time and reduced rates - they do at Veralum Park.

As you suspected - a sales model

    23 September 2011

The Royal Air Force Museum has recently taken delivery of a full scale model of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.

Built by Lockheed Martin, the model is a fully accurate representation of the aircraft currently in flight test and due to enter service with the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy in 2020.

Measuring 15.4m long with a wing span of 10.67m, the F-35 Lightning 2 makes an impressive debut alongside the Royal Air Force’s Typhoon fighter and the earlier Harrier GR3 – a veteran of the Falklands War.

The model has been employed by Lockheed Martin across the world at numerous exhibitions and air shows.

Their decision to donate the aircraft to the Royal Air Force Museum reflects the importance of British companies in the development of the F-35 and the aircraft’s significant role in the Royal Air Force’s future front line.

I park at Tesco for all our home games. 3 hours is usually enough, cup games can be a problem and December. Haven't had a "invoice" in 14 years since I started using Tesco car park. My son works in security and he told me ages ago to never pay a ticket given by a private company. I wonder if that works at Watford Hospital? Has anyone parked there and not paid, got a ticket and refused to pay? Can someone volunteer and try it out.

I’ve parked in a private car park for about six years now and it is a car park that is very much in use of a weekend and less than five minutes from the stadium. Never once had a ticket and if I got one next week I’d be fine with it – a £50 ticket for six years parking would be fine by me. Being a bit ballsy with parking can go a long way.

But you think morally, it's OK to charge people premium fees for parking at a hospital? Is that not just charging for healthcare, which we've supposedly paid for out of our taxes?

    Bumpity bump.

One of the major private parking companies (PPC), ParkingEye, started to take many recipients of its parking charge notices (PCNs, not fines) to court. A lot of people have received advice from forums such as money saving expert and a blog run by Parking Prankster. Now if you take the advice from these two places there is an exceptionally high chance you will win your case and it seems that an awful lot of people have been doing this and winning their cases with ParkingEye losing an awful lot of money. At the moment there's a very big case going througt court in Cambridge (awaiting a judge's decision) that may rule that no PPC is able to take anyone to court. To fight back, ParkingEye has decided to "shoot the messenger" to such an extent that they've threatened both sites with libel/defamation actions. An awful lot of posts on MSE are being censored, to such an extent people bombarded MSE's multi-millionaire founder, Martin Lewis, with their complaints and he has spoken:

Whilst the parking prankster has been threatened directly, and his reply is far more robust (and funnier):

It might be worthwhile for mods to go through this thread to remove anything defamatory towards ParkingEye.

It will be interesting to hear this judgement but unfortunately County Court decisions are not precedent setting. Unless the case is being heard in at least the High Court it won't impact other similar cases.

Do you have a link to a story about the case ?

This is what I thought but:

    http://parking-prankster.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/cambridge-report-afternoon-session.html

From what I can make out, it was just supposed to be a 'normal' session of the small claims court, but ParkingEye had some high falutin' barrister representing them, and it's just sort of escalated.

It's because most PCNs can be successfully appealed against claiming that the charge does not relate to a genuine pre-estimate of loss (GpEOL).

Agian, I don't understand why, but the "Cambridge Case" appears to have a lot of ramifications:

EDIT: Ahhhh...it becomes a little clearer:

Decision through and it's a "win" for ParkingEye.

I say "win", but as someone pointed out this decision means that some PCNs issued in some "free" car-parks could be viewed as revenue making for the PPC and thus, make the "free" car-park liable for business rates.

Be interesting to see whether any of the losing parties will (can afford to) appeal as this will mean that, for the first time, the whole PPC industry will come under binding legal scrutiny.

Don't pay it mate. Private companies issue under contract law, in that you are agreeing to their terms to park.

If they write to you after you fail to pay you should respond by making a request that they delete all data of you under the data protection act.

They have no powers to worry about.

Actually, I'm not sure that advice is still valid. It always used to be the way that you just ignored the tickets, made no contact at all and they went away. These days it's possible for the parking companies to get the registered keeper details from the DVLA and write to you asking you to name who was driving/in charge of the car when it was parked. If you refuse the law says you can be held responsible for the debt anyway. I would suggest you go on the PepiPoo (stupid sounding but actual name) forum and ask their experts on non-criminal parking tickets what to do. They may be able to help you make it go away and avoid a CCJ.

  33. Orny Arry

One PCN will not result in a private company pursuing the debt. It'll cost a shed load for each and every single one they pursued. It's not criminal, it's a breach of contract.

I can't find any case where a private company has pursued a one-off unpaid ticket.

I also don't think you should be criticising someone's advice then signposting the poster to a website because you're not actually sure yourself. You're saying my advice is no longer valid but you haven't backed it up with anything. I respect your posts but that's poor work mate.

I'm amazed you've turned a throwaway line at the start of my post into such an issue, especially when I qualified it with with "I'm not sure". I didn't have time to take a look at the Pepipoo forum myself to check the latest advice so thought I'd point dom to it. Apologies if that upset you but then you didn't exactly back your post up with anything either so I thought it was worth mentioning. If you are indeed spot on then fair enough.

You offered the criticism, not me. Why criticise something that you're not sure of?

Anyway, after a **** night watching a bunch of ***** trying to kick a ball around for 90 minutes , I won't get myself caught up in this.
