Nigel Jemson. His career was stagnating at the time. Never the same after his car accident.

I think Alan Smith had me harking back to that 90s Arsenal era and the Danish Spelling from John Jensen got into my head.

Just to say I'm pretty sure he's not 25, that was a joke/lie (delete as appropriate). As far as I'm aware he's 19-20. An adult man and semi-professional PR reputation launderer probably capable of being described as 'an absolute fist' and '(having) a shyt haircut' anonymously on the interwebs without any significant damage.

Lumping the lad in with GT and Luther Blissett now.

Just wait until you hear about Elton John’s drug-taking or the way he treated those who worked for him at times. You’re in for wild ride.

This is the main problem; they're fixated with Twatter-style communication to be in wiv da yoof to the near-exclusion of all else. A communication platform where a high % of contributors don't even use complete words is not going to lend itself to much other than crass 5hyte as the interview.

Was anyone else at Southend when Watford fans were scrapping with each other over Kerry Dixon? Those were the days! Now we just get to call each other 'bedwetters' and 'COGS' (I still don't know what it means) from the safety of our keyboards!

Exactly. Hannah has got the wrong end of the stick, unless she means the official website as the media targeting Gray!

This thread went on to the other founder of the WD18 media powerhouse getting into a row with Luther on Twitter by saying he doesn't agree that it was insulting to him.

This is a 19 year old who also claims to be a rapper and DJ telling a footballer that he's wrong about his name being mentioned. I did enjoy Luther's 'how would you know' question. I assume these people didn't even know who he was til the interview.

I won't say his name or mention his hairstyle as that would be mean.

I'll say it as this is the second time someone has done it over the last few weeks and clearly the older generation need to be made aware.

To suggest someone is gay isn't an insult anymore. To make some attempted insulting reference to it about the former owner of our club probably makes you a Luton fan or just a ******* idiot.

I dont think suggesting someone is gay is an insult. Got a lot of love for EJ. Wouldn't shag him myself but good luck to those who do. You assumed I was being homophobic just cos I referred to Burnsy shagging EJ which was presumptuous of u. I just think Burnsy needs to get laid more and was making a suggestion based on his reference to EJ and a wild ride. It used to be insulting suggesting a Watford fan was Luton. Not sure how much longer that'll b true for, the way we're going!

I was not too impressed with Glenn Roeder and his search for a striker. I wrote to the club in 1994 (including a video with my letter) to recommend a young player, whom I had watched when I was on holiday in Brazil. My letter was addressed to Len Cheesewright (who was Watford’s chief scout at the time).

There was no reply nor an acknowledgement so – after several weeks - I telephoned Oliver Phillips at the Watford Observer (because I was very excited about this young Brazilian player) and he contacted the club. This time I received a brief note (returning the video) from Glenn Roeder, who thanked me for my interest but added that they were still looking for a striker.

I found the reply a little strange because it was a midfielder whom I had recommended. Perhaps it reflected Roeder’s obsession to sign a striker. Juninho Paulista, the Brazilian player whom I had recommended, signed for Middlesborough approximately 15 months later and became a club legend there. Oliver Phillips wrote a short piece about my earlier recommendation in the Watford Observer when Juninho signed for Middlesborough.

I'd forgotten about Nigel Jemson but can remember Steve Hodge (I know, not strictly a forward, but an attacking player with pedigree) who played a huge 2 games for us and then disappeared.

I think you are misremembering. There were several players identified. Many have gone on to be wonderful players for other clubs, but we couldn't sign them because Petchey wouldn't even release a hundred grand or so to allow any of these players to sign.

That you found a gem of a player is great, but we couldn't sign him. We still managed to finish 7th one season, but were relegated the next.

He played a lovely one two on the edge of the box at the Rookery end. Took the return on his thigh and burst into the box for a shot, which didn't go in. That's all I recall about him.

Which prat was it? Elliot, Sean or Sam. I’m guessing Sean?

These young pups know nothing. Not hating on them. They have made a career out of social media. Don’t consider it a real job personally myself, but in today’s day and age, it is. So fair play to them for getting thousands of sheep aged between 12-25 to follow them. Anyone older than that, listening to opinion of a 18/19/20/25 yr old, needs their hard drive checked.

    Robin something or other.

Gave his opinion (likely thinking Luther wouldn’t read it or bother to reply) and then did that weird grovelling thing when LB did send a response to question the validity of what was being said about him.

Just replace the word Alan with Troy and you have the current Watford changing room.

Didn't Petchey block Kenny Jackett from signing free-scoring Barry Hayles from Stevenage for around 100 K?

I am not misremembering (as you suggest). I am well aware that Jack Petchey was extremely tight with money. However, Glenn Roeder might have been able to use the information both to his and to Watford's advantage - even if there was no possibility for Watford to sign the player. There is no evidence that he did. The fact that he referred to only the search for a striker in his brief note gave the impression to me that he had not bothered to read my letter nor to look at the video. His reply was merely a reaction to Oliver Phillips contacting the club and appeared to reflect his obsession to sign a striker.

I got a completely different reaction from the club when I recommended an 18 year old Uruguayan striker named Ruben Sosa ten years earlier. Graham Taylor wrote a detailed response, in which he said that he spoken with John Barnes and Dr. Vernon Edwards (club and England doctor at that time) about the player. Ruben Sosa had made his international debut in the Uruguay team which played against England during their South American tour. However, Graham Taylor thought that it would be too difficult to obtain a work permit for Sosa. One year later Ruben Sosa was signed by Zaragoza and had a very successful career, in which he also played for Lazio, Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund.

What is your point? You found a player who we couldn't afford, who went to Middlesbrough for loads of money that we couldn't afford and nobody told you 'well done but we can't afford him?'

I was thinking that Roeder had a lot of contacts in football and that perhaps he might have been able to trade the information for a favour from another club. There is no evidence that he did. Middlesborough paid £4.75 million for Juninho (after he had played very well against England in an international at Wembley). His value probably rose during the 15 months after my recommendation (because he played for the Brazilian national team and he became more well known outside Brazil), but I agree that he would have been out of Watford's price range even 15 months earlier.

Your explanation makes less sense than the original point. It’s fairly clear you meant to be insulting due to EJ sexuality.

And thanks for your odd concern about my sex life. I’ll be sure to take it under consideration.

Meanwhile I’ll let you get back to wondering about which Watford player you want to have sex with your daughter - it was you who started that thread right?

I'm sure no one would have a problem if you were able to criticise the points she made without personal insults. But as I said, each to their own. If you're happy to indirectly throw abuse at young people, on a platform they (AFAIK) aren't using and therefore can't defend themselves, then go ahead.

Personally think it's poor behaviour for grown men to gang up on and personally attack a teenager because you disagree with an opinion, especially when mental health issues and suicides continue to rise in that demographic.
