We won't know until ITKJim gives us his patented "Wow" rating. He gave Andre Carrillo five Wows in a row and so far he's turned out to be a bit average. Think Slimani is going to need at least eight ITK Wows for me to get enthused about signing him.

 

Seen it reported today that we're lining up loan move in January. Probably a try before you buy type deal.

Makes perfect sense. He's a player Silva likes, but we wont need to sign him permanently when Silva goes in the summer, unless the next coach wants him of course.

I thought I'd come in and share my thoughts on Slim;

I have absolutely no idea whether he's any good or not.

And there you go. He picked up a knock soon after signing and hasn't looked fit since, although he's been unable to dislodge Vardy and doesn't work in a front two.

He doesn't jump much and his first touch is crap. He is however a pretty emphatic finisher and finds the space to win headers rather than battering the ball and some defenders into the net as his physique would suggest. He wants to press and doesn't seem to have a particularly canny footballing brain. I think he needs a coach to invest fully in him and actually give him the opportunity to adapt to the Prem. Obviously Silva seems like a pretty good fit for him.

In summary, his time at Leicester has been unhappy, except a winner in the Champions League against Porto. They called him the dragon slayer in Portugal for his knack of sticking it up Porto and it was a lovely little sub plot to our European adventure. Not really £35million worth of entertainment though.....

 

Also, Whispering Claude hasn't put him in the last 3 match squads despite no talk of an injury. He's definitely off in January.

With Giroud and Batshuyai potentially available for loan in Jan, Slimani is not top of the list

 

none of those 3 duds are.

 

I'm not convinced Slimani would be much of an improvement on what we've got. Maybe worth a loan, but not a big transfer fee.

 

Seems like a swap with Gray would suit both parties.

 

Did he really cost £35m? Holy ****-knuckles.

 

I think he would be a rubbish signing myself.

 

Hopefully we sign another wonder kid we've never heard of.

Giroud will be coming nowhere near us. Arsenal need to strengthen in January and Sanchez still might go. Walcott also. I’d be extremely surprised is Wenger let Giroud go too - and if he does, it will be with Giroud pushing to go somewhere where he can get back in the France squad for the World Cup. That isn’t us.

Batshuyai - I guess it’s possible. But we’d be fighting West Ham, Everton and probably quite a few others for him. And he’ll be fighting to go to the World Cup too. Doubtful still for me.

Slimani may well not be top of your list. But I’d wager a fair amount that he’s top of Silva’s. I expect he will be here in the first week of January personally.

 

Leicester don't need a replacement before letting Slimani go and we're desperate for him. I'd be surprised if he isn't here by the Bristol City game.
