Not the best deal for the likes of me that live in the UK but too far from Watford to justify a season ticket.

I listened to a lot of games using the 3cr streaming on the website last season. Now I have to pay.

I'm not complaining too much though. It is good to know I can watch all the home games and £10 per game is ok. I may ditch my Sky sports now and that will cover some of the cost.

It just feels odd to now have to pay in the Championship for the audio streaming coverage that was free in the Premier League!

Seems very likely that's due to the combined impact of loss of TV money and no match day crowd; they need to monetise everything given what's going on. Sucks for people like you, but I understand why they need to do it at least.

Yes, I saw that too. I assume they're attempting to make up some of the loss from empty stadiums.

Yes, I agree and paying £4.50 a month is not a big deal.

I was under the impression they had to charge now as it's an EFL requirement. May be that's just the video stream though.

The paid audio feed is an EFL requirement too I believe. Hence why when we played Caribao Cup games as a PL side the club website was only rarely able to provide the normal free audio coverage.

That's what I thought so I can't blame the club for the new charge.

I'm just grateful to have had last season's commentaries for free. The thought of paying for the gash that was served up for most of last season is painful.

I think they have over priced it. I can see why they are desperate for revenue but if they price it too high and less people sign up then they will get less dosh.

I’m not paying a tenner for watching football on a tablet with no atmosphere. I would however pay less. I wonder if they priced it lower it would also encourage less people to look for illegal workarounds. Maybe others will pay though and I’m just stingy.

Even for non UK subscribers the live Sky matches won't be available!
Seems weird to offer a season subscription knowing it won't include a fair number of games(8-10?)

The last of those NowTV passes the club sent in June has expired so I can't watch the Boro match with it.

Sort of. But then the point I guess is foreign broadcasters pay a few quid for the rights to Championship games and if the expat crowd can sit at home in their pants and watch it through their club website their product is worthless.

To be fair it's not a bad deal compared with some other clubs. My neighbour is a STH at Peterborough, he's had to pay for his ticket for the the upcoming season and will receive a refund for matches played without fans.

They've calculated the ST price per game is £19.90 and they're streaming the matches for a tenner so he'll get a £9.90 credit for each game played until fans can return.

He's 70 odd and will struggle to watch the streamed games but felt he had to pay for his ST as he didn't want to lose his seat that he's had since the 1960's and his father had before him.

I suppose smaller clubs and those not recently in the Premier League are having to lean heavily on their fans' goodwill to get them through this period without gate receipts.

how many generations of children who never heard this in its original use will keep this tradition up. I fully intend to make my kids start using it so they can continue its use.

[ANECDOTE]When I was in the 'Pool in the late 80's there was a popular fanzine (thAT didn't actually cover football) called "What's The Score". They ran a 'competition' that anyone could 'tap' the, unpopular, Brookside character "Owen Daniels" (played by Danny McCall) with a rolled-up copy of the mag saying "You are Owen Daniels, I really like you and I claim my £5!" could 'win' an instant prize. I seem to remember that quite a few prizes won were charges of "...common assault...", "...affray..." and "...ABH...".[/ANECDOTE]

I've just handed over a crisp virtual fiver for the Spuds game. From The Hive Live FAQ which has recently been posted...

I don’t have a smartphone or device that’s able to download the Watford FC app. Can I still watch?
Yes, you will be able to access Hive Live using a laptop/PC via the Watford FC website. For the best viewing experience on a smart device, we recommend using the free club app.

I don't think they've mentioned previously that you can watch the games via their website. That's good news for anyone (like me) who'd rather not have to watch it on a phone or tablet.

You can Cast any webpage though and the game is available on the website.

I've also had a little go at sideloading the app with little success so far. Managed to get it all done but accessing video is evading me. If anyone works out if this is possible, let me know but I'll take another look during the game on Saturday.
