I was hacked off at Woy for not introducing Rashford sooner in the Euros, so I can’t criticise Southgate too much.

Agreed, the midfield needs sorting. We had by far the weakest midfield by comparison with the other semi-finalists. If that could be tweaked by the next Euros, and we keep the same team spirit (this may be the key), I think we could have a very decent chance.

I am surprised how unfazed I feel about this. I certainly felt a lot worse in 1990.

France might win with a manager they don't really rate.

Croatia had 3 managers in qualifying - and had to go via the play-offs.

    Funny old game.

Croatia deserved it in the end I feel unfortunately - if only Kane had taken that chance.

    Bet he does against us.

    Morse obsessed.

    Endeavour frissoned.

    Never watched Lewis.

Always comes across as a lunchtime special for the oldies.

    Views on Father Brown?

Endeavour is splendidly acted. But nothing beats Morse.

We have to be realistic. We are a very average side and lost to the 2 half decent sides we played after the many decent sides were put out by others. This was a terrific opportunity but just weren't good enough to take advantage. No raging blaming of effort or tactics. We just lacked the quality. There will be the usual unrealistic expectations now for the next competition.

    I agree

One thing that struck me was that while we were playing the ball first time early on, as we got closer to doing something historic we started to play more carefully. Kane and Lingard both missed chances by taking a touch before they shot

Extraordinary how well we did without a midfield, in any recognisable form.

Someone who imposed themselves in the middle third.

    Huge opportunity for Chals.

He could be the man for 10 years.

Better acted than Morse which often resorted to a bit of self referential hammery.

Please interview Her Indoors re Midsomer Murders, Bargain Hunt et al.

Amazing she works full time & recently got promoted.

Also the one with Angela Lansbury.

    Always on.

Mrs Keighley enjoys Angela Lansbury and we both rather like MM.

She also likes NCIS (always on) and Law and Order. Don’t see it myself. Though I could tolerate CSI, especially the New York variant.

Trust this is numbing the pain for fellow ‘Orns.

    Doucoure for England.

    He’d stroll in.

I believe this was part of the PM’s Chequers grand deal.

Btw, you mean a footballing Lewis Gregory?

A fit on form Ali should always be in the England team, but he has not been fit or on form throughout this tournament, so why has he been selected, likewise why has Sterling been playing? It might as well have been our very own waste of space Andre Grey out there for all the use he was, as he has pace like Sterling and just runs around like a headless chicken. Also Harry Kane hasn't been at the races for our last two games but I forgive him because he is probably knackered.

As for the rest of the team, Pickford has been an absolute star so has Maguire and Trippier; Stones did ok, as did Young and probably Lingard overall; Henderson also had a decent tournament much to my surprise, but I was not overly impressed with Walker in fact his unecessary up in the air kick was probably the main cause of one of Croatias goals tonight. The rest of the squad that got a look in throughout the tournament did not overly impress me, though some looked better than others.

Walker has looked a much more effective central defender than Stones.

    The twenty first century Ferdinand.

    Both dozy as *****.

    Good news from the Quantocks.

Once I realised that there was no online gambling aspect to Bargain Hunt etc, I became ‘totally cool’ with it.

    Brian Langford?

As for the ref tonight, I was not impressed with his performance as I thought he let far to much go, especially the Croatians liking for body checking harry Kane on at least 3 occasions, Loveren being the main offender and I don't think he even got booked despite probably being the dirtiest player on the park.

Sterling did well I thought apart from chances missed. He was vital to how the team played and when not there we were far poorer. All tournament.

Yet every former and current pro prepared to go on the record praises Sterling to the max. I've been critical of him but when that happens you sometimes have to accept you're wrong. He did very well tonight.
