Time may be altering reality but I remember Dean Yates being a very good player but unable to play much due to a horrible injury record.

Alan Devonshire was a touch of class when he came into the side. End of his career but you could see he'd been good.

Likewise Danny Drinkwater who you'd never have foreseen would go on to win the league (then get found out at Chelsea). He was rotten hence 'Danny Dishwater'.

I couldn't understand at the time why he wasn't given more of a chance. His career since suggests that he wasn't all that, but in his brief cameos for us I remember thinking he looked quite dangerous and was one of the quickest players I'd ever seen.

Gavin Williams - was going to be our top class Prem midfielder before his injury.

Can anyone remember if he was actually that good in his few appearances for us?

Yes - good defender at Notts County under Warnock and Derby.

Going by the 98/99 season review he was first choice alongside Keith Millen before injury.

I am not sure mr played much at all.

Got injured in training and had to retire like Damien Francis.

Didn't Ryan Noble score an absolute bucket load of goals for Sunderland youth team and was one on the most highly thought of young players in the country. We took him on loan and his career never looked forward. 10 years later and a grand total of 19 clubs he is now plying his trade at Billingham Synthonia!
    Your welcome Ryan!

I was at that game, away to York or a similar illustrious team.
Allder ran up and down the left wing but I don't think he touched the ball. GT took him off at half time.

My bad. I just checked. Doug Allder played in a different game than the Svarc game.

Svarc was the 2-1 home win vs Darlington. Allder, as you say was away from home in the 3-2 win actually at Rochdale.

Yves Makabu-Ma-Kalambay. Although he never actually made an appearance.
Sheku Kamara and Claude Seanla played in that Accrington Stanley cup game during Aidy's time I think. Albert Jarrett had a shocker that game too.

Oh, and does anyone remember Tom James? Came on for a brief appearance under Dyche in a cup game. He was a random signing.

What was the name of that huge homegrown youth CH with an Italian sounding surname who played a few games about 20 years ago ?
Ah just answered my own question. James Panayi.

Wasn’t he a Cypriot international as well?

Although most of us remember him, one of my favourite Watford memories was playing Barnsley at home in 2000 - petering out to a dull 0-0 when Dominic Foley stepped off the bench to shovel one into the top corner from 25 yards in stoppage time.

Feel bad putting him in here alongside some of these “Legends”
At least this one will be remembered for “that” peterborough game in ‘94 unlike a lot of the other names here...

Not to forget Eddie Plumley (I think) the waiter who played in goal for us in our FA Cup semi-final against "The Spuds" because all our senior GK's were injured.

Not surprisingly we lost 4-1  I still think we would have been better off playing one of our youngsters

    Johnnie.

He actually played 15 games for us somehow. I don't remember much other than him being really dislikable somehow.

Didn't he play like he was jogging through treacle?

I remember most of the Boothroyd bad signings. Genuinely though Douglas Rinadi was going to be the next Ronaldinho.

Players off the top of my head who haven’t been mentioned yet, who I feel have little affinity to the club.

    Steve Kabba

Moses and Kabba scored about one goal each I think?

Powell was remembered most for the head "handball' given against him at Everton.

Think I read he wasn't a fan of Boothroyd.
