The sad thing is there are lots of posters hoping that it's true, and that it will cause problems for the club we all support, simply because it fits their agenda.
The rest of us will wait for the facts/confirmation and react accordingly.

Yes doesn't sound very clever from an admin POV. Its odd that we would be required to make a "solidarity payment" to the academy if we are buying a player from Bordeaux though ??

Maybe the buying club is expected to pay the relevant funds direct to such ‘3rd party’ clubs rather than to the direct vendor? Maybe we didn’t pay the relevant amount to Bordeaux or this Nigerian academy.

Yes but you'd think it would be for Bordeaux to pay though ? We wouldn't have any contractual arrangement/obligation with the academy.......I assume.....

 

I’m not saying I know anything, but maybe any sell-on fees, especially those based on compensation for youth player development, are registered with FIFA at the outset so they fully control things. It wouldn’t be the only Byzantine system to be found at FIFA.

 

A Championship side recently in the Premier League gets a transfer ban but it's not reported anywhere apart from some Nigerian twitter account. You would expect this to be picked up the tabloids.
I said when I first saw it that it's bull **** and I standby that.
At least it's cheered up people who want us to fail though

I think this is unfair, and I say that without any malice - whilst my opinions on Gino and co are well documented, my initial reaction, and I'm sure the same can be said for most others, is that I wasn't surprised in the slightest and to be honest thought we'd've been fingered for something like this a lot sooner based on the similar claims that were made by Senegalese clubs around Sarr, not to mention the Zuniga debacle from a few years ago (I think it was him involved).

It certainly explains why our transfer window activity has been non-existent, and it's a very basic (and stupid) admin error to make for a football club, who deal with this kind of thing on a regular basis.

 

Or, you're just playing both sides, as normal with your sense of smug non committal superiority.

 

I will wait for the truth to emerge before judging you for running out of Dixons with an unpaid for novelty telephone.

They felt I should have paid what I legally owed at the time of acquiring the asset

I only felt obliged to pay after the authorities had been involved and demanded I do so under threat of punishment

I doubt the lack of transfer activity has anything to do with this . If it’s true the ban started on the 19th July so all the time leading up to that we could have been making transfers.

 

Not surprised. It’s Giaretta in charge of admin. I really really really really hope at the fan event he gets all the abuse he deserves.

 

By "playing both sides" you mean waiting for the facts then criticise the bad stuff and praise the good stuff ? By being "non committal", do you mean I should commit to everything being great or everything being rubbish ?

 

If it as an " administrative error" might we hope that Mr Duxbury may be forced to have "a year dead for tax purposes "?

I'm not assuming anything. Was just waiting for confirmation from a reputable source. Genuinely feel sad that so many posters seem to be delighted at this news/rumour.
