  1. That's was how Nige had us set up in the Prem so I think it a fair guess that's how he would have continued to have us set up

He understood it gets the best out of Sarr

You need to see the bigger picture. Which only appears when we lose.

  4. We were lucky to get out of 2 of them with 3 points.

  5. A sack full of goals incoming to help us cruise past Brentford and Swansea with those 2 up top obviously

    Happy dayz

It was a joke get over yourself. Today’s game could have gone either way. Promotion race has lots of twists and turns yet.

That said, not sure if I’d back our squad mentally when the chips are down given the last 18 months.

Can't complain there. A Swansea defeat is more useful to us than if we drew today

Apologies, hard to tell you were joking, as other are being just as reactionary, but without the sarcasm.

Revisionism. Blackburn at a stretch but Preston and Derby didn't have a shot on target against us!

  11. Blackburn at as stretch? We were in flappy panic mode for the last 5 minutes. And as for Derby you forgotten about their legitimate disallowed first goal then?

I have now gone into full nerd mode and have made a list of the coming fixtures for March.
I notice that there is a Welsh derby on March 20.
    It's the hope that...

5 minutes out of 90? Can you honestly say we didn't deserve the win? You seemed fairly happy at the time, so I'd say revisionism is a fair description.

I think I’m with WatfordTalk here and will hold off on the bedwetting today. We all have seen the league before, we have seen it this season too it’s so unpredictable. The autos are not over here until
It’s mathematically impossible, and that’s still a fair while off...

Could have been out of sight tbf, but regardless, Championship players aren't as clinical as Prem players, and we deserved the win

The problem I have with the Preston, Derby Bristol and Blackburn games is they only tell you something if you lose. Bournemouth was the first real test in a while and we failed it miserably.

I would not go as far as "miserably" but clearly it is a failure.
Ash Barty said at the AO " you either win or you learn"*.
Let's hope we learn and learn quickly.
    * Draws notwithstanding!

So we are 3 points off 2nd with 33 points up for grabs come on I would of taken that at the start of the season long way to go COYH

Today confirmed to me, if we miss out on the automatics, we're not going up.

We are just totally ineffective against sides around the top six. Our record is woeful. We've only beaten Norwich and have not scored more than once against anyone.

We just struggle to break these sides down and silly mistakes get punished. We are not smart or robust enough to win through a play off semi-final IMO. Sure, we won't be destroyed by anyone, but we'll just come up short. We are naive. Our management team are not shrewd or experienced enough to get us through.

Today's game illustrated this completely. Anyone slagging off Deeney, will know, he was the perfect player to have brought on from the bench today. We needed streetwise men out there today.

What I'd give to have Pearson (Nigel not Ben) dropped into our setup right now. I think we'll miss out on the top two, as we've always choked in the big games. There are too many difficult games for us to handle in the run-in. I expect playoffs, but we'll choke in those as we usually do.

No ones fault apart from Gino. He's done the bare minimum to get us promoted. No strikers, rookie coach, bare minimum of players to cover midfield. Large part of the season played with no left back. If we don't go up, there's only one person to blame. The same one who got us relegated.

You won’t win every game. I’m not overly bothered about the loss today, I thought we weren’t great today and the result was about right. What is annoying though is the booking for Chalobah and sending off of Pedro. Bournemouth got exactly what they wanted and we are now without 2 key players. These mistakes hurt is more than the loss. Everyone needs to keep their heads on regardless of who we are playing.
25 wins is the minimum required for automatic promotion. We are not far off so we need to pick ourselves up win the next few games. Norwich & Brentford will lose some games as well so we need to do our job first and foremost.

So we haven't 'lost' any ground on Swansea, but with games running out and the hardest run-in out of everyone, any dropped points, every game is a must-win now really. On paper they're two very winnable games from the comfort of fortress Vicarage Road, but with JP out for Wycombe and Chalobah out for both, they are both massive banana skins. Ideally we score 2 or 3 early goals and can take the piss after that, but I highly doubt it'll be that easy

I think this is a great post, apart from the Deeney part. Just like WatfordTalk last week, you’re looking at a series of mistakes and then suggesting Troy as the answer.

The key is don’t get into that position in the first place, don’t get into a scenario where you need to bring a failed striker on whose abilities are no longer football related.

Look, if we need to bring on a shock-jock aspiring author to smash home a penalty, that’s what we need to do.

131 goals in 386 goals = failed striker!! hmmm.

In a game like today, you need men, not boys. Our "boys" got wound up far too easily. This was exactly the type of game where Deeney is still required.....IMHO.

Deeney would not have taken any of that rubbish, starting from when Cook the Smaller threw the ball at Sarr (?).
Hopefully he can get the guys together and tell them to wise up and expect more of it in the future, although not to that degree.

Pele: with 643 goals from 659 game at a club level

It doesn’t really have much relevance now, in 2021, does it?

Every player was off today ,you go with your strongest team but after so many games with little changes you are bound to have an off game we have 12points from 15 got to be happy with that kiko never got to grips with his player ,individual battles lost and 2nd balls lost all over the pitch, lost to a mistake that wasnt even there free kick ,annoying but we go again all to play for COYH

He's not a failed striker either.....so has plenty of relevance. But if your point is Deeney is not as good as Pele, then I agree with you.

How many goals has Deeney scored from open play this season HB1?

And if you know the answer do you believe it to be an acceptable return for anything other than a ‘failed striker’?

  30. hornetboy1

To use your analogy, if Pele played for us this season, how many goals would he score in open play? My guess would be not many, but that still doesn't make him a failed striker.

You said Deeney would score more than Toney this season? And that Pedro needs a League One loan to "get used to English football"?

You were the one who quoted (ancient) stats for a a striker who has scored one goal from open play this season.

As I’ve said many times before, I always agree with your opinions HB1, but your constant support for Deeney is quite frankly embarrassing. Give it up.
