I think we all have to cut the players a little slack.
Clearly this is a different set of circumstances and no athlete can keep their level with the frequency of games, especially the younger ones whose levels will fluctuate. Particularly in a contact sport.
Coupled with the fact that as a recently relegated side we are viewed as a scalp and last night most of us expected Hughton to be ultra cautious. Leopards and spots etc etc.
Was the performance satisfactory no of course not but I think there are a few extenuating circumstances.

The amount of 5hithou5ery in this league is ridiculous at times.

Take Reading's match for instance - twice a Reading player grabbed the opponent's shirt while they were in the opposition box in order to pull the defender down on to them, in order to make it appear as if the Reading player had been fell.

Thankfully the ref didn't buy it on those two occasions, but it seems pretty clear that's something which they've been instructed to do in order to buy penalty kicks.

The league is so crap that the EFL on Quest show regularly has an advert for an actual toilet during its commercial breaks.

You hear some people bang on about Bournemouth dropped points here, we dropped points there and try to discern a deeper meaning to it, but in one sense, I think it is all completely random, you simply can't play at 100% all the time with 46 games crammed into such a short period, and perhaps sometimes teams are actively targeting certain games over others. There's a gulf between us home and away, and there sure was a gulf between Preston's performances against us and the other day against Bournemouth...

On a general forum I use there was a bit of chat about that game and the view was fairly mixed but of course one Bournemouth fan said they were clearly fouls and penalties - much like the ones they seem to get alot.

I have to say it's a particular tactic I hadn't notice Muff use much before as part of their own arsenal of tricks; I wouldn't be surprised if they and their fans were impressed by its ingenuity though and considered it something worth them trying out more themselves.

Time to see what Muff can do at Oakwell.

Barnsley press so high, Bournemouth keep getting 4 vs 2 chances on the counter. Good match, though muff already ahead...

I see this a lot during corners in various leagues and the inconsistency is crazy - I can't remember which game (or even league haha) it was I saw the other day, but the defender had a fistful of the attackers shirt and dragged him down (whilst also falling himself) and the ref gave a free-kick in favour of the defender. That being said, only needs to work a couple of times a season and then it's well worth it

This looks like an easy Muff win. Barnsley look awful, a bit like when we played them.

Only difference is they scored - we didn't.

    Kamibarnzlee.

Two very avoidable goals. Woodrow with a Chalobah-esque brain fart. Game probably over.

Muff scoring more than a fifth of the number of goals we’ve scored all season in a single match.

Up until last night though there was only one goal difference between us.

    Forest down to 10 men.

    Handball on the line.

    Reading 1-0 up.

Can't help it that they exhausted themselves against us. Reading aren't anything special at all, we are much better.

Makes that failure to send off Kelly early doors against us a little more annoying. Basically a free win and a day off

We’re not going up with Ivic in charge. Not enough of a goal threat to sustain any kind of challenge.

  24. What should Watford players do on 29 December if it happens again as it will?

The same Useless Eustice whose portfolio is to represent the interests of farmers, but is SO ‘relaxed’ (ergo ‘delighted’) at the prospect of No Deal which will lead to 40% tariff on lamb exports...fancy hearing such libertarian views from him!

To be fair to Millwall football club they are very good at doing stuff in their community. I dont think you can blame the club for the moronic fans.

Good question, i'd clap them if they choose to walk off, but i doubt they would unless it goes beyond 'just' booing.

how about remaining on their knees until the booing stops?
delaying kick-off whilst the neanderthals hopefully inflict long term damage on their larynxes...

Except, if you read the article, it becomes clear that Eustice made his position clear: He is against racism and BLM.
And Millwall FC have made a statement.
And the Guardian article was so twisted in its reportage that it was forced to change the original headline - a fact which it sheepishly acknowledges in a one-line paragraph at the bottom of the online article.
Additionally, best practice would be to keep your political biases out of a football forum.

  30. Ex UKIP candidate George Eustice? Yeah, right.

Best practice according to whom? This is front and centre to football.

Let me guess: All Lives Matter?

Yes, they have now belatedly made a statement. A statement that doesn't even directly condemn the actions of a significant proportion of their support.

Yes, they do some nice work in the community, yet they continue to tolerate the unsavoury elements of their support.

Please take a moment to contrast their response with that of the Colchester owner.

100% this is front and centre to football - falling out of love with football...

Oh, football. Totally separate from the rest of life.

WillisWasTheWorst Its making less grammar mistake's thats important

Eustice deliberately clouded the issue by bringing up the supposed political movement Black Lives Matter, which had nothing to do with either footballers taking the knee or Millwall fans booing the action. He did that because he couldn’t bring himself to condemn the latter. We can only hope he is telling the truth when he says he is “against racism”.
