I always preferred Deep Impact despite the cheesy ending to Armageddon which is some of the most implausible soppy cliched tripe to be penned from Hollywood. I wonder if they will name a school after Troy Deeney when he shows his cojones.
I lied, I actually do have another request; Can Vinnie Jones be in the dugout on Sunday and do the HT team talk. He can have Razor and Julian ****s as his assistants. At FT I would then appreciate it if Vinnie sparked Giraldi out. That’s all.
Say what you want but Steve Buscemi and Peter Stormare are fantastic in that movie. "This is why I tell you guys, touch nothing. But you are bunch of cowboys."
Right size for those cojones of his. Shrunken husk of what he was as we all look on pictures in Watford Museum in forty years time remembering the sight of that massive gob***** gurning at a camera.
We looked more threatening with Sarr as the last man running in behind. Considering we need to go for it, would it make sense to play our usual 4-3-3 but invert Welbeck and Sarr with Deeney, i.e. have Deeney as a #10 for the first 60 minutes until he tires with Welbeck and Sarr allowed to play as two strikers?
Deeney playing makes no sense in any situation. Impact sub at best for the last 15/20mins is how he should be used. Mullins and Stack need to put their balls on the table and drop Deeney. It’s what the fans want and it makes the most sense for the team. Starting 11 should be Femenia, Dawson, Kabasele, Masina (if his confidence isn’t shot) Hughes Capoue (if fit)/ Chalobah Sarr Doucoure Pedro Welbeck If we go 4-3-3 same 11.
From his cameos for us he unfortunately still looks far too wet behind the ears to make a real impact at this level, I don't think he'll be ready to get more regularly involved in matches until the second half of next season at least.
Got to give him a chance. He has something to prove. He is unexpected, meaning arsenal won’t know how to deal with him. We’ve got to do something different and he could be the difference. He has all the talent and ability to be a superstar. Got to play him in my opinion. Richarlison was no different, but believed in. Pedro had a better scoring record than Neymar did at the same age. There is a reason Liverpool and Madrid wanted him, as well as a host of other clubs. Thousands of people were literally baffled that he signed for us. What do we do, sign the next big thing from Brazil and stick him on the bench, give him 5 mins to make a difference now and then, and tell him to do social media interviews with a smile.
It does make me laugh that even with one game left and us staring at relegation after a miserable season there are still people defending not using 'unproven' players and giving them a go. The ones that have played 20+ games have done brilliantly haven't they?
Exactly, Quina did very well when called upon last season, surely to God you'd have thought we'd give him more of a go this season (and it's not just to do with the party, because he was hardly used before that). I get that Joao Pedro is just a kid, but he played a part in the goal against Southampton, and with the amount of times we've been chasing games, you'd think we'd gamble and give him a go, surely he can't be less potent than Pereyra
I know how you feel - so sending a virtual hug , above sums up my view perfectly just our luck this season if we win 1:0 and villa win as well
Richarlison was 2 years older when he came to us. In Joao Pedro's cameos so far he's floated about the pitch with little urgency, doing a couple of nice flicks but not really getting anywhere - Arsenal will have little problem dealing with him. Richarlison was fired up and competitive from the get-go in a way JP hasn't been so far. He has talent, but he's just not ready yet. His cameos so far have reminded me of seeing Greenwood come on a few times for Man Utd at the end of last season, there were a few moments which indicated the quality he had, but ultimately he was on the periphery of things and most of what he tried didn't come off (even though he'd usually pull of the exact same finishes with ease in the U23s or England Youth teams). A year later, after having had more time to get up to speed and physically adjust to the league, he's started to perform and show his youth performances at senior level. I'm not saying that JP is as good a prospect as Greenwood btw, I just mean that where JP is in his development reminds me of where Greenwood was in his one year ago, and I still think it'll be another year or so until he starts showing why we pulled out the stops to sign him. You're wishing that he's something he's not, which is a player capable of making an immediate impact and saving our season, when really he's still a prospect. When JP first signed I was hoping he'd be able to make an immediate impact as well btw - of course we're in desperate need of some flair and a goalscorer to help keep us up - but it's appeared from what I've seen of him since arriving that this hope was misguided.
I'm sure I can find numerous other things I could be doing on what will most likely be a fine Sunday afternoon. But no. I will be watching this shambles of a team lose probably 2/3-0. Arteta will want a reaction given their dreadful performance at Villa Park and I just cannot see them losing two in a row. In 2017 when Captain Cojones made those stupid comments I knew it would come back on him, and us, eventually. Now the team he said had no balls get the chance to relegate him.
In the 2006/07 season when we were relegated under Boothroyd, on the last day of the season Sheffield United needed a draw at home to Wigan while WHU were away to Manchester United who were league champions and were planning for the FA cup final. The expectation was that Sheffield United could afford to lose as there was no expectation that Manchester United who had looked brilliant all season would drop points at home. Their record at home was won 15 drawn 2 lost 1 before the final match. In the end Sheffield United lost at home to Wigan and the Hammers stayed up with a 1-0 win away at Old Trafford. Therefore it is possible that Villa will drop points with them not knowing whether a win draw or even loss will keep them up. I think that they will drop points, so we must focus on the right tactics and team to get us the result that will keep us in the Premier League. We have to go for the win obviously as it increases our chances of staying up. We must drop Deeney and play on the break with pace. Try something different. A front 3 of Pedro , Welbeck and Sarr. Hopefully Capoue returns too as he is still our most classy midfielder when he is motivated. I fully expect Arsenal to play a stronger more balanced team than the way they played against Villa which is a joke really as it gives us a potentially tougher opponent than the one Villa were against. They will probably be motivated to play well to keep their place for the FA cup final too. We must learn lessons for this final match of the season, this is virtually a play off final. Win and we probably stay up.
It’s a bold move, but I’m trusting that arsenal will have 0 shots on target against another relegation threatened team.
I guess we will agree to disagree. You can’t judge him on his cameo’s. Look what he was doing in the Brazilian league getting a consistent full 90 or more minutes than 5 at least. He stats speak for themselves before he joined us. Yet again though, we’ve managed to take a flame and put it out rather than turn it into a fire. He has something to prove. Age means nothing if ability is there. He hasn’t proven his ability. Literally dethroned Neymar of his record in the Brazilian league. That is impressive. Talent is there, ability is there. The only thing missing is the belief in him. We need to give him a chance. I honestly believe if he starts on Sunday, he will be the difference maker. He had a habit of scoring important goals in the Brazilian league. Give the boy a chance.
I agree. But he should have played far more in the last few games so we wouldn't have to think about dropping into this fixture so untried in the Prem
The Brazilian league is clearly utter **** though. He hasn't looked much like it when he's come on so far. Richarlison was skinning defenders and throwing himself around like a nutcase from his first match with us. JP has seemed more like a young intern.
Some of the best players in the world to date and in the past have come out of that league. You’re making a statement on a league that doesn’t get anywhere near as much air time to judge it properly. I would hazard a guess that the likes of Santos, flumenise, Gremio, Flemengo, Corinthians, and Internacional would wipe the floor with us. He hasn’t been given a chance though has he. You can’t judge him on 5min cameos. The preseason post restart game against Brentford, he was one of our best players. This against a Brentford team that was and has continued to be flying this season. Granted it was a warm up game, but he proved his ability against a tough opposition. He should have been played way more since the restart. You can disagree all you want. You won’t convince me otherwise. So let’s just leave it at that.
https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...-support-watford-fc-last-premier-league-game/ 2 hours later and still no response from a single fan. That should show the players what we think of them and gutless performances.
You can't really compare Brazilian football to European football at all, it's just different. Some will excel in both straight away, some might take a while (and I'm sure plenty of decent footballers in Europe would struggle out there) To compare him to Richarlison is not to compare like with like neither, Richarlison had a couple of years on him, and by the time he arrived, he was up to speed as he'd been playing for ages (which is a big reason why he fizzled out by November), whereas JP hadn't played for months
Not comparing the leagues or styles, but to say it’s a crap league when half those teams would demolish us, is incorrect. Again not comparing him to Richarlison, just saying that the potential is there, talent is there, ability is there, yet we don’t give him a chance. He is clearly a great talent with bags of potential to be a world class player. We don’t use him though. We play it safe with one leg Deeney.
Just been watching the battle for play-off places in Championship. Forest were playing at home comfortable in 5th place, 3 points clear and 4 goals better off then Swansea in 7th place who were playing away. Forest lost 1-4, Swansea won 4-1, with the last crucial goals in each game being scored well into injury time. Just when you think that the odds are heavily in one teams favour, Forest blew it. An incredible turnaround.. Why do I mention all this on the Watford thread? I'm not sure really?.
