I have a good feeling about this whole thing.

Genuinely think he is what we need and he will turn it around.

We have the talent in the squad, we just need someone to instill the correct mentality, no more of this softly softly sh yte

Rancid attack; so bad they make our defenders look good.

That attempt by Deeney at the 3.10 mark, Christ almighty.

All the 'Deeney is the best finisher' gang had better take a great big nostril-ful of that.

Regardless if we go down, I’m already warming to Nigel Pearson and his character seems well suited to our club, not just through his coaching philosophy but he seems to get what Watford’s all about. I’ve been really impressed by his numerous interviews and although we’re right at the bottom of the table, the mood at the club seems to have already improved in such short time and for once, the fans and team are looking at games such as Man U with a bit of optimism

I suspect this love-in with Pearson will have changed after we lose our next 5 games.

I second that. Wasn't keen on the appointment but he's already growing on me. Looking forward to seeing another spirited display Sunday.

    Just saw his press conference.

You cannot fault the club with NP's appointment. Rate this bloke highly already. Almost too honest & charming with his oratory. Don't think he could keep it quiet if there's an issue with individual players & I like that. Got the players on best behaviour.

Really hope he succeeds here for the long term, but it's a very tall order indeed to keep us up from here. It's not just a case of winning 3 games on the bounce as some are saying, it's more like 5 or 6 because the teams above will have also gained points in that time frame too. It is very much against us if you look at the maths honestly & objectively. The issue is goal scoring & where is that coming from any time soon? The team is unbalanced now & full of crocks. Got R written all over it.

Very little introduction of youth team into main squad in recent times is again another story, for another day.

Their model for England needs to adapt & does not look so progressive anymore & I think they realise this too. Why else do we now have an old fashioned, English manager at the helm. Who honestly thought that could or would ever happen?

I'd say it's 1.5/10 of staying up, but I have faith in the future, because things are going to be shaken up & changed either way.

Such a relief to hear some measured and interesting thoughts, after the vacuous, anodyne waffle from QSF.

Can’t help but to like him . There’s a certain gravitas and calmness about him and he is quite reassuring in that he appears to at least know what’s wrong and needs to be fixed.

There was a clear improvement vs Liverpool so he’s having an impact . That said it will largely hinge on whether he can get the team actually finishing their chances .

We all hope he succeeds. But it’s far too early to be saying we ‘can’t fault the club for his appointment’ - he’s only had one game! Lose the next 20 and of course we can fault it!

Nigel will make the team honest, they will know if they work hard they will play. He knows when to put his arm around a player & when to ream him out. The sleeper in all of this is his right hand man Craig Shakespeare, they work very well together but not so good on their own. I believe you will beat the drop !!!

  19. He's already become my 3rd all time favourite Watford manager after GT and Zola and we haven't even had an ostrich moment yet... which would just be icing on the cake

  20. Interesting towards the end where Caps translates from Sarr and says he wasn't being played in the right position (I assume he means by Gracia and QSF who didn't use him as a winger)

Same as Hughes. Play him in the right position and not surprisingly he plays a lot better!

Hughes is immense in his current role. A complete waste of two years over on the wing.

We had Hughes and Pererya as wingers for for long time. [emoji where you slap your forehead]

I think you're starting to see why Leicester fans love him so much. Obviously he hasn't been there that long yet but I always felt like the club was in good hands when he was here. His media persona becomes more likeable when he's at your club as well, he just utterly detests them lol.

If you'd have told me 5 years ago that I'd be cheering on Watford and Troy Deeney I'd have told you to f off lol

My only worry is that if the task to keep you up is too big this season will your trigger happy owners sack him. I hope they see the long term gain of Nige

    True regarding Sarr.

Though with Hughes there needs to be a slight caveat in that many on here have rather been claiming that Hughes' best position would be as the most advanced central midfielder/number 10/free role. I don't recall ever seeing anyone suggest he should be one of the two deep, ball-winning midfielders.

I was always against Hughes as being first choice either on the wing or as a number 10 for us, due to his lack of goal threat and pace around the pitch. I never envisaged the Capoue-Doucoure tandem being broken up for him either. The change is clearly working though. Though what has surprised me the most isn't so much how well Hughes is doing in his new role, but rather in general how much sharper he has been looking in the last few weeks - he used to always be second to every tackle and knocked over at the slightest puff of wind, but lately he's been first to loads of balls and much more resilient.

Even Nigel's programme notes are motivational for the fans as well as the players. Both Gracia and QSF wrote 'content free' drivel.

Little gets said or mentioned about him, so I wanted to understand more about NP's wing man Shakespear. Found the video of him on YouTube doing his press conference after Claudio R's sacking, when he was named as the Leicester interim manager.

Didn't watch all of it but the man comes over very well. Sensible, intelligent & above all honest. Understands the basics & the human side which the players clearly react to. Looks like we've got great potential with these two at the helm.
