I understand and to some extent agree but to say we crumbled against Sheff Wed is not telling the whole story. I will put myself at risk of being burned as a witch and apologies to anyone I may have turned into a newt, but if The Sainted Almen had taken just one of two very reasonable chances we would have won. He didn't,we didn't and so it fits your narrative. The Leeds game really was outrageous bad luck in what happened regarding Poleon etc. Palace was a collective bail out, save Lloyd and the previous semi final was underwhelming but it doesn't mean the players choked. It just means they didn't play to their level. It happens I'm afraid.I don't like it and I can bore humanity senseless with other examples in a multitude of sports. Sometimes you only get a fleeting opportunity. We all sang "We'll be back" after the '84 game. I didn't think it would take 35 years but at least this group have a chance to create history for themselves and us. Trust me players who represent us are elite athletes. They may not be at the level of City,Liverpool etc but they will know how to compete and ensure a good performance. Unfortunately for us they are human and sometimes they fail, but they know the method required to win.
ARGH - we could have Everton finishing ahead of us. Still could be worse - might also be Palace and Bournemouth.
Maybe I’m not sufficiently gruntled to read this properly but are all the words here in the right order?
I think we can expect those pussies from next door to roll over at Leicester tomorrow. That would put us 10th. Then it's just a question of can we hold on to 10th. West Ham have Southampton at home next week, which they'd probably win and that would put them just 1 point behind us. Suddenly this wonderful season could turn into a bit of a disappointment at the final hurdle.
In the grand scheme it doesn't matter. Even if we lose the Final. In context we have progressed significantly since last season & seen the same squad improve individually & collectively. We've now got a stable manager, the profile of the club has been raised & with a few squad improvements over the summer we can aim to sustain all the progress.
Disagree completely. If we ruin this once in a lifetime opportunity to finish SEVENTH, we may as well liquidate the club.
The problem is that this could well have been our one, unexpected chance to finish so high and get into Europe. For the foreseeable future at least. We are inevitably going to lose some of our stand out players, and replacing them with equal or better quality is going to be a hard ask.
I can't think of a sport where it hasn't or doesn't RD. It's a horrible feeling but in a tennis match it is strangely compelling. That horrid feeling of your stomach churning and the desire to rush at ninety miles an hour to win the point asap is actually the first thing most players miss. That is probably why most players site relief as their main emotion on winning an important match. The joy comes later. I think it's more clearly defined in individual sports as competitors have no one to hide behind. The responsibility is theirs and theirs alone.
Nope....got that completely wrong. I thought we'd finish 7th and get around 60 points. Check through my earlier posts. #21
I am no student of the bard so I'd be surprised if they were right at all! I just didn't want that rousing post to pass without recognition of its Crispinishness. As for the order of random words, I hope at least that you recognise I am learning some stuff from you!
I went to the dental hygienist yesterday & it was like being waterboarded. The weedy water sucker couldn’t cope. Natasha happily told me about her pleasing tour of the Amalfy coast throughout.
Typical. Soft red for us v Arsenal costs us the points. Soft red AGAINST Arsenal helps gift them to Leicester!
At this point I'm actually leaning towards being embarrassed and ashamed we lost to them even with 10 men. They are absolutely shambolic.
As predicted the Arsenal pussies are rolled over by Leicester. Looks likely 10th place is going to be a fight between us and West Ham.
I think the biggest difference between us is the fact they’ve spent 100 million on two really good strikers who’ve carried them. Vindication for the “Fox-in-the-box” theory.
Would have been a better fit for me as I could have lived through and experienced the "special effects weather" I "enjoyed" when we visited the Amalfi coast.
