Won’t accept any criticism of Gray for 6 days now. Great touch and finish.... Deeney was brilliant and played a captains role. Goal and assist. Pereyra anonymous again and his inability to even care about defending is costing us. Mariappa. It’s always hard to type because we know he cares for the club. But I said it pre-game that Vardy would only need one chance to exploit him. Capoue was imperious. Doucoure getting better. Much better defensively with Holebas involved.
Great touch and finish. Excellent battling from Troy. Janmaat solid. Christ I can't find a boo boy today
Exactly! It looks bad for Mariappa as he is the one trying to get back and catch up Vardy but he was always up against it from the moment Cathcart sprinted back towards his own goal and played Vardy on, leaving a massive gap for the through ball.
Have to be honest Thought we looked ok (maybe even good) they scored a bit of a lucky goal, yes they had a lot of possessions but only looked dangerous a couple of times. We sat back and only tackled when they started getting into the final third. I thought bringing on Gray for Gerry D was a mistake, but was clearly wrong, great goal by Gray Thought Hughes who has been criticised a lot was working well, Bobby P was ok ish but want to see more we know he is capable. Cathcart and Mapps ok made a lot of good blocks. Was worried about a Foster when he went down , he is probably the most vital person not to loose at this time of the season. Deeney was good seemed to be all over the pitch. Doucs and Capoue pretty solid Led the midfield well Only downside , was kind of hoping we would narrow the goal differnce
Massive Deeney performance gives him the MoM for me, but I was really happy to see Hughes play so well. Doucs & Capoue were also very solid though maybe lost control a little near the end. Leicester looked the more likely to nick a win until that fox in the box Gray scored. Brilliant finish (nice ball from Deeney too). Pereyra really is our weak link at the moment and I'd like us to try someone else out on the left wing. Man the ref was frustrating. Hell of a season we're having, lads.
Pissed off with all the empty seats again. There’s a waiting list to get season tickets. Proper fans unable to see games because of these fickle fans only showing up for the so called big matches. I hope the club addresses this issue as a matter of priority. Onto the game. Thought overall we were fortunate to get the win. Bobby P anonymous yet again, he contributed absolutely nothing. Capoue and Doucoure were bossing it until Moss put a stop to it by needlessly booking the pair of them. Deeney was my MOTM true leader today.
6 days? After scoring winners against the Snake and the ****, I say build a ******* statue of the bloke.
Is that a medlar? It's supposed to be one of the most amazing tasting fruits there is. One my folks got an allotment I bought them a three year old medlar sapling. It grew for 5 years and looked like providing a decent number of fruit that had to be left to blett/rot slightly before harvesting but the allotment committee cut it dow as trees weren't allowed on plots.
That game perfectly demonstrated Troy's attitude. Fouled all game by their centre-halfs, including just before the equaliser, but he just keeps going and what a pass for the winner. Like Deeney > Ighalo c. 2015. And a glorious touch and finish from Gray. Am I the only one who thinks Pereyra was alright? Not great, but no worse than Hughes on his opposite flank. Kept the ball pretty well overall and was rarely caught too far away from Holebas when we were defending. I think Hughes gets a pass in comparison because he likes a tackle and wins the odd header. I think 7th is a straight fight between us and Wolves. West Ham may have something to say about that, but if we beat them and Wolves at the Vic it's ours for the taking. Still really enjoying this season and it's March! Haven't said that for a while
If anyone moans about Deeney today you need help. What a captains performance, proving again he is a very valuable asset to this team. Bit of a lucky 3 points but we’ve had our bad luck this season so not complaining. Best thing is it puts us further clear of Leicester (and the rest) prior to them inevitably hitting form under Rodgers and before a couple of extremely tough away games for us.
You mustve been watching a different game to me. Until he got tired last 30 mins Hughes played well. And I have been critical of him playing there. Pereyra didn't play well again.
Didn’t get to watch the game but it sounds like we were ****. Schmeichel has been average to terrible since the start of last season and we’ll, you know what happened. The consensus in the media has been that Rodgers has done the right thing coming to us but it is underestimated just how much work our team needs, as you may know I really couldn’t stand the last manager. We’ve got some good players and some very overrated ones, looking at the forum I post on it seems that Maguire and Maddison were poor again. Neither have had a good season and if they weren’t young and English they’d get far less rope in my opinion. Anyways.... well done, good luck with pushing for 7th, looks like it’s between you and Wolves now.
That is, indeed, a medlar. The French call it "cul de chien" (translation: dog’s arse). But it could also apply to the feline anus or Rodgers.
Andre Gray scores goals He was unlucky not to score against Liverpool He had one chalked off after rounding the keeper the week before He scored today Yes, his first touch is limited, but he still offers useful running to the channels to complement the goals. We will likely never have a ‘complete’ striker for more than a season before they are sold off due to their scarcity. I don’t know why he still gets the amount of stick he gets other than because he was a scummer. Don’t you remember one of our best midfielders of the 00s used to play in front of the greenhouse stand? Guys, Andre Gray, he’s alright now.
I dint think you were **** to be fair , but (and I’m not taking the piss) we were better with enough quality to nullify Vardy which left you with little threat in attack. I would say there are far worse teams in the league than Leicester
Because people might have other plans for a Sunday morning? Still, whatever. Can’t say it bothers me.
I think the initial problem you may have is that under Puel it was pass, pass, pass, no end product. Rodgers plays a similar style that is ultimately a lot more effective. The transition may take a little while because there isn’t a massive difference between the two. At times today it looked like Puel was still in charge, lots of possession but no real threat.
what do you mean now . I bin saying for last 16 months he never got enough chances to start and show what he could do and he deserved better than the slagging off he got on the forum. Even now he isn't getting them starts but works hard finding space and waiting for the service. And his first touch today didn't look very limited to me thought I admit, like with all of our players, first touches don't always come off.
I’m not making excuses, but I’m suggesting this might be more of a factor than the fact that it wasn’t a “big match”.
If Gray started every game he’d easily score enough goals to justify his price tag. £18m is a pittance for a PL striker, people need to get over that.
How bizarre. Never heard of a medlar tree until a few days ago; then it pops up twice in quick succession - once within a Romeo and Juliet quote, and then again on a football forum!
Can we rename the thread Watford 2 Jon Moss 1? We overcame, despite that fat blind useless tw@ts best endeavours to ensure we didn't
Loads of youth football on a Sunday morning - that's why me and my sons not there today. First home game I have had to miss this season due to the stupid kick off time, and not happy about it. Asked around to see if anyone wanted to use the seats and everyone interested in the same position...
