OK. That’s not how I read your original post. I read it as listing the sides who were still in trouble and their chances of overtaking us. To exclude Southampton from that seemed curious, to put it mildly.

If that wasn’t your intention - then fine. I agree with your overall conclusion, although I would not be as bullish about Southampton’s chances as you are. They will have a tough game with Swansea, and I really can’t see them beating City, because Pep won’t let his players take their feet off the gas. However, in this moment, I would personally say that Swansea or Huddersfield would be my favourites for the third spot (I doubt Stoke will do enough).

Southampton are still toast. Everton will grind out a 2-0 win, They'll draw with Swansea and get thrashed by City. Winning a game doesn't guarantee a run of form, especially not in this league.

I know of no urban myth of HB1. I based my post on the fact you said you were concerned. Fact. That you said the risk was small. Fact.
I read that you do not expect us to go down and that you posted your views on what might actually happen. But in that scenario you expect us to stay up. It was not that part of your post I was talking about.
My post explained that for us to go down EVERY other team needs to go against form, winning or drawing exactly the remote combination that sends us down - while denying that Watford too could defy form. I did not say you posted that but that only that combination could send us down. If you accept it is near impossible for all that to happen then you agree with me that you have no need to have any concern at all. So why do you say you are concerned?

Can we just beat Spurs tomorrow and put an end to all this madness?

Good, I'm glad you've now understood my point. I think Southampton could win at Swansea, which will give them greater impetus. Everton away and City at home, look tough on paper, but these are glorified friendlies for those two sides. You see it all the time, as soon as a team has nothing to play for, they drop their standards by a degree or two. When they play a side who has something to play for, then that extra desire is often telling.

I believe it will be West Brom, Stoke and Huddersfield who will go down.

I've answered this about 6 times now. Do I need to post pictures?

My concern is that we could go to the last day of the season being not safe mathematically.

Southampton do seem to have a better squad so your analysis seems plausible.

Still think they may only get 4 from 9 though.

But there is not one game left and as I have shown the combination to get us to the last game where we could be relegated is nigh on impossible. Repeating you are concerned because of the last day does not explain a rational concern. To be concerned you have to believe in the combination of a couple of dozen games results all going the wrong way for us - it is not about one last game.
Still - if you are concerned so be it. I would still warn you not to go out in lightning, cross roads or take a plane though as those are far more real concerns if you are the worrying type.

Talking of relegation, Udinese have lost their last 11 and could be 2 points off relegation if they lose and SPAL win with 3 to go. Fortunately they play Benevento who are bottom and the team 2nd from bottom in a couple of weeks.

So, come the final day and we potentioally need a result at Old Trafford, you're saying you would not be concerned? If that is the case, then you are either lying or not really a Watford fan.

No -I have not been rude to you and there is no need to accuse me of either lying nor of not being a Watford fan - can you think only of those two explanations? Perhaps I understand and am just more sensible about risk than you. By the way, I have supported Watford for over 50 years - how about you?

You do not seem very rational so let me try to help you out with a little analogy.
I am not concerned about being run over NOW because I am in my house. However if tomorrow I go out and break down on a motorway in the fast lane THEN I will become concerned.
I am not concerned NOW about Watford being relegated because it would take about 30 results to go wrong for us to put us down. However if 20 of those results DO happen and we get to the last day and a defeat to Man U could relegate us then I would be concerned THEN. See the difference?
At the moment the risk is infinitessimal so I am not concerned. If the risk becomes great then I will be concerned.
You though are concerned NOW. Spot the difference?

I have a ticket for the Man U game. If the above was to happen I'd laugh all the way home. It's because I care too much.

All I said is if we had to go to Old Trafford and are not mathematically safe, I'd be concerned. The rest of your post is going on a tangent about how things are NOW. But this is not the scenario I've talked about, it's just you that's taken it in that direction.

I'm glad you actually admit to being concerned, which is the point I was making. Not sure why you have such difficulty in saying that.

For clarity, I'm not concerned TODAY, but if we do lose the next two games, there's only TWO sides Southampton and Swansea that need to make up 2 and 3 points respectively, before the third from bottom place is within striking distance of us.

It's not a massive permutation of 20 results, as you make out. Two loses for Watford and 1 win in two games for both Swansea and Southampton, would make that a reality. Swansea have to play Southampton and Bournemouth in those games, and Southampton play Swansea and Everton. It's not impossible for that to happen. This is all I'm saying.

The final day would be, Swansea at home to Stoke, Watford at Man Utd, Southampton home to City, Huddersfield home to Arsenal, Brighton at Liverpool.

Don't try to wriggle. On post #1762 you wrote "I'm concerned for Watford, as we ARE still at risk, but the risk is small." Not that you would be concerned in the future but present tense " I am concerned" That is what we have been talking about - not just your last post about Old Trafford. So no tangent - just tying you down on what you wrote.
You really do not understand English do you? I am NOT concerned and have not "admitted to being concerned". I said in certain circumstances (which won't happen) I would be. Understand ? I am not concerned but could be in the future. You need to concentrate more or try to read what others post.
I am pleased you are not concerned TODAY - but you said you were yesterday at 11.20 when you wrote post #1762. What changed overnight - or did my teaching you about stats and English help?
Yes I do understand that if a whole lot of results go the wrong way then you might become concerned - but you are not TODAY but you were YESTERDAY.
    Glad we cleared that up.

...I'll just pause from posting to see this free-kick go wildly over the bar...

    GOAL! 1-2.

They still look as bad as any team at the moment and I wouldn't be shocked if they went down.

These last two seasons i feel we've become like those runners in the qualifying rounds who know they've done just enough, so run the last bit looking over their shoulders to double check they definitely arent going to be caught (and to preserve energy presumably) Just run normally for Christ sake!

It's got to the point where i've become jealous of the bottom three clubs who are putting in tremendous performance now they know there's little time left for them.

You simply don't understand. Which is fine. I think you are just confused or are intentionally trying to muddy the water. It's pretty obvious the point I've made, and I've made it very clear several times. Plenty of other posters have now understood, apart from you. I cannot cater for every individual's level of understanding, but I have tried my best.

Just because you are English and I'm not, that has no bearing on the matter. I understand the language perfectly fine, but thanks for your patronising tone.

Cheap shot at the foreigner. Way to go, you're such a hero,

Benevento now leading 2-1 thanks to a ridiculous penalty decision by the VAR - one of their forwards shot the ball against an Udinese player's hand from around two yards away. Doesn't instill confidence in the VAR system.

Edit: Justice is served - two goals in two minutes from Lasagne give Udinese the lead.

You keep making incorrect assumptions. I know you live in Barcelona but assumed you were English - cheap shot by you - how do I know your nationality - you do not know mine. If I was patronising it is because you keep shifting your ground.
In what way have I misunderstood. I quoted exactly what you said. You said you ARE concerned. Now you pretend you did not say that and are trying to say you WILL be concerned if we get to the last day and need points. We all agree with the last point but do not pretend you did not post #1762 because you did. I am not muddying the waters - you are - and who else do you claim understand you? I have seen nobody say they do as it is only you and me arguing.

Giving Man City the incentive to keep winning - three games in which to reach over 100 points, to go with their 102 goals so far.

And doing us a favour along the way.

On the 2 showings after they've won the league Man City aren't taking it easy so maybe bad news for Huddersfield and Southampton.

If they don't go down, I would expect Gino to be granted the freedom of Huddersfield. Without us they would have 6 fewer points, and scored only 22 goals. That would probably would mean they were virtually relegated already. I think my West Ham season ticket colleague will be fretting now. He thought 35 points was enough because of the Swansea games against Stoke and Southampton. But if Swansea can get a point against Bmuff and win their last home game against Stoke, but lose to Southampton, and Arsenal failure to win away again this season, he frets they go down due to inferior goal difference. You can see why I sit back rather relaxed. He is pinning his hopes on getting points at Leicester, and would love them to be in our position of 38 points and a last home game against Newcastle.
