Hughes always ends up crap though, doesn't he? It looks like Stoke and West Ham could be surprise strugglers this year.

I reckon Bilic has a touch of the Martinez about him. Good attacking but can't defend and benefitted from the previous managers coaching last year.

    Sunderland look absolutely woeful though.

Surely the funniest team to go down would be Weat Ham. Imagine that stadium when they are at home to Rotherham/ Burton etc.

Can't believe the run Stoke are on.... Hoping we can do as we did last season and stay out of the bottom three and the dogfight down there now.

  9. Have confidence. this os the best Watford side yet and will comfortably come mid table maybe better

Given, Johnson, When, Walters... feels like some of those players have been around the league for years. Stoke are just too slow to refresh and strengthen their team. If we're one extreme they're the direct opposite.

From the 41st minute of our match to the 56th minute v WBA, West HAm conceded 8 goals in the space of 105 minutes!

This thread seems ridiculous 5 games into the season but to sit 9th after having already played half of last seasons top ten bodes well. We should survive IMO.

How can you be banned in 2016 for a tweet you made in 2012. When not even in the league at the time?

I dont condone his tweet but that's odd.

  15. UEA_Hornet

It was tweets rather than one tweet. But yeah, it does sound odd. I think the FA should ban Luton from their next 4 matches instead and call it quits.

Sure Dyche will have a word or two on this if Burnley lose their next few games..

Got Arsenal and Everton after us so its going to be hard enough as it is.

Seems a bit over the top - he was non league then, it was 4 years ago, he apologised unreservedly and says he no longer holds that type of view. Ought we to go back to find out what other players posted in their school years?

Bet Luton fans were looking forward to watching Grey against us. Imagine if we were floundering in the lower leagues, and a popular former player was about to take on Luton on MNF. This forum wouldn't shut up.

    Thrilled to disappoint them.

Because he wrote it 4 years ago.

Not much not to understand there.

Sunderland 2 up on Palace lose 3-2. Stoke 1 up against West Brom draw 1-1. Muff win against Everton which was slightly unexpected. Their 3-3 draw against Everton last season kick started their campaign. Deja Vu?

Sunderland are a joke of a club. 2-0 up and lose 2-3 at the death. Spent an enjoyable couple of minutes on their forum reading such gems as "Why the **** did we sell Kaboul like", "FFS, so predictible like" and "Just relegate us now like"

Yep, the ar$eholes actually type "like" after everything...

It's going to take a massive effort to turn it all around.

And yet every year they somehow manage it. Still early in the season but that was a game even their most pessimistic fan would have probably expected at least a draw from at the start of the season.

A fellow Hornet friend of mine has always maintained that Moyes got lucky at Everton and believes him to be very overrated.

He certainly has his work cut out up there at present, especially if Defoe gets fed up and jumps ship.

Sorry IBB but I don't think that Moyes was lucky for 11 years. Sometimes a manager is also the right fit for a club.

Sunderland will sack Moyes in March time and just stay up - they always do!

I think Everton had (at least on paper) the easiest start to the campaign and that was even before todays game. All of a sudden it looks like a disaster could well be looming for them.

Our match at Burnley will be tough:

    - A week night fixture at Turf Moor will always challenge players and fans alike
    - Even if he doesn't say it, for SD this must be a special fixture
    - They recently saw off Liverpool 2-0
    - The current weather forecast has 10 hours of heavy rain leading up to KO time.

However, IF (big if, etc.) we managed to win by a two goal margin, we would rise to 7th in the table. The only teams above us would be:

    Man City
    Man Utd

    Everton
    Liverpool

    Arsenal
    Spurs

If we manage to keep the momentum going this could very soon start to feel like the 1980's all over again.

I agree, don't think Moyes is a bad manager but when you come into a club like Sunderland you've basically got to make it work instantly otherwise you'll end up in exactly the position they are in - rooted to the bottom.

Sometimes managers just lose it, unable to build on the talents that built reputations at other clubs. I think Sunderland will struggle but will stay up his year. Despite the focus on players, managers are often the most significant factor when clubs get relegated.

I take your points Otter and I am undecided on his prospects. I agree that sometimes a manager fits a club.

I happen to think he would be best suited to a warmer climate,if only to improve his ghoulish visage! Looks like a pint of Gold Top!
