just back from the game, absolutely mad, as has been said it was never a red in a million years.... how the hell did he come to that conclusion? probert was such a homer it was embarrasing. after the dust settled i actually thought we might be ok, frustrate them for a bit and try to hit on the break but it never happened, we didnt play as good as we could have with 10. we never held the ball for any period of time and worried them, real shame. i was in the bmth end behind the goal closest to our fans, it was an awesome noise they made all the way thru... "if watford score we're on the pitch", shame it never happened. i wish the refs were quizzed more amd made to explain their actions.... terrible!
It all depends on what he puts in his report, if he says denied a clear goal scoring opportunity then it would be a 1 match ban and any appeal would be successful probably. But if it's recorded as dangerous play it would be a 3 match ban and no appeal would overturn it.
Bitterly upset with that decision. Completely skewed the game and can't take any conclusions about what the 11 v 11 outcome would have been. On the upside I dont think we ever gave up although we tired at the end. The team spirit is evident and I can see us easily making the play offs and with the amount of games to come 7 points is a gap but not an insurmountable one. Didn't like the way the commentators were spaffin over muff, they had an extra man for the whole game for Gods sake. Keep backing the boys, keep the faith. If we don't get autos would love to tonk this lot in the play offs.
...but he wasn't the last man. So it must have been for a reckless challenge.....unless you're suggesting the referee made a mistake by sending off Angella without being the last man? Surely that couldn't have been the case? A mistake by a referee? I'm sorry, but I find that really hard to believe.
TBH I thought it was the only decision he got wrong right up to Pudil's escape. However if one is perfectly honest, both decisions were as crass as they come.
I tell you what should happen. If a player is sent off in the first half, the red should be able to review the decision at half time and if he got it wrong, the players is reintroduced in the second half. referees should get sacked for ****ing up. They are currently and forever beyond reproach. The only reason they quit is because they get too ****ing old to run around. They get paid handsomely for what they do. The amount of errors they make is ****ing stupid and cost teams success time and time again. Lee Probert fancied being in the news tomorrow so sent Angella off in the first minute. Perhaps he thought he'd make the record books. He couldn't wait to get the card out. No referee worth their salt would have made that call in the first minute. None.
Cheated tonight Just as we were cheated against Leeds on the final day in 2012/2013 **** the disgraceful incompetence/corruption of the officials in his league We're Watford FC, we'll get to the PL sooner rather than later and we'll laugh when tinpot ****e like Bournemouth go bust via FFP and revert back to League 2 where they belong
Norwich's squad cost a great deal more to assemble than Bournemouth's, including Bournemouth's former star striker who's sale funded much of this team. Calum Wilson looks an inspired signing. Back to my original point, they look a very good side.
I don't want to be too critical after that but.... Hobans like a small child in a tackle, also uncomfortable on the ball, has his good moments, but oft infuriating. Tozser, ****ing hell. Pudil. What the ****. Layun, a left wing back, who's been played twice on the right but is better in CM so far. Okay then. Gomes for the second goal was dreadful too.
Sorry....but that's a scandalous accusation. Did you know Lee Probert refereed the FA Cup final? He's beyond reproach. No...I think there must be a mass hysteria going on here with Watford fans, myself included, that have had their eyeballs scratched so much by Deeney's goal two years ago, that they now see things that just are not real. If you challenge a player, even if there is a covering player, then it's a straight red. If the opponent puts his studs in your players' chest, then it's just a stern telling off. If your player brushes an opponent in the penalty area, and he actually falls over, then it's a penalty. If the opponent blocks one of your shots with an arm in his own penalty area....then it's not a penalty. These are the rules of the game.....it's about time we all learnt them and stopped bleating on about injustice.
Feast your eyes on this heinous red card worthy challenge http://gfycat.com/RawEvergreenAmericansaddlebred **** off English football
Delighted to hear that, exactly what I'd do in the same circumstances. Assume Probert didn't apologise, and he'll get promoted back to a PL game next week. ****.
having watched that im even more fuming... he wasnt last man, he barely touches him, the lino doesnt even flag, he played the ball well past into a position he was never gonna get to. joke of a decision. fuming.
I do like the sound of Austin. The bloke rarely smiles and looks continuously pissed off. He and Joka could do very well, the signs are good. Unfortunately if we don't go up then Joka doesn't get a new contract I'd imagine. Party round Squibba's when that day comes though.
Shocking red card decision, which effectively ended the game. Our efforts despite this considerable setback were valiant indeed, and the fans did the team proud. However, to say that it is cheating is a little much. Yes, Lee Probert should be demoted and let know that his officiating was not up to the standard for these high-profile games. But I think calling him a cheat is a bit much. There are hundreds of decisions throughout the leagues each year which are truly dreadful and have a huge bearing on where the points go at the end. I've always found it strange that referees have never played football to any standard themselves, as if they had, most of the poor decisions they make would never get made with a bit of on field experience. On the plus side, we have loads of games to still mount a challenge. Not all doom and gloom!
No point blaming Bournemouth. They took advantage just like we took advantage against Fulham. The differences tonight were that (i) the ref made a bad decision that ruined the game. (ii) we made a slow start again by giving the ball away (Tozser) and putting the defence in panic mode. Deeney and Iglaho worked their socks off by the way.
Why should he be demoted? Never understood that, why should a League 1 or League 2 side have to suffer with a **** ref?
We didn't surround the red against Fulham and it was a genuine last man sending off. Get some ****ing perspective. Bournemouth are a horrible rabble of ***** who might as well been holding hands with the ref at times. **** Eddie Howe as well. Another limited English manager who teaches his **** players to act like that.
Of course it's easy to say nice things to appease the opposition when you've won, but it would be nice if the football league acknowledged a mistake if both managers doubt a foul has been committed - like how you can withdraw an appeal in cricket for example.
If Howe feels that strongly, maybe he could tell his players to stop acting like ***** when it happens. Oh right, he's just being a sanctimonious piece of **** ****.
Eddie Howe comes across as an ok bloke to me. I'm sure once you've had a good nights sleep you'll put all this behind you.
You split it into paragraphs that weren't there before. My perspective comment was related to the Fulham game.
The thing is....the game is ruined (for Watford), the TV watching public are cheated out of a good game of football, and a result is heavily influenced by a dreadful decision after just 26 seconds. The game has only just kicked off and he makes such a big call like that, on the TV camera's. Everyone, even neutrals, have slammed him for the decision. It's a big game, that has big consequences. Careers can be ended or enhanced on the back of such things. To expect any team, with a numerical disadvantage, to impose themselves and to have any chance of getting a result, is slim. Compound that with also an extremely generous penalty award, then it becomes impossible. I would just like to know what goes through the mind of referees. Why do they keep on making such obviously bad decisions? There are plenty of examples in the Premier League. These are not subtle incidents, these are basic things that they should get right.....but unfortunately are just getting wrong far too often. This guy refereed the FA Cup final, so must be one of the better ones.
