Why is there this extra Vydra thread when I started one only a few days ago? Should they not be amalgamated?
OK. I keep looking at it. Maybe he could have been a BIT further forward. But here's the thing. As has been said, he's just come on with 15 mins to go. He's fresh and, as we all know, very speedy so he can take up pretty much any position he likes. As we also know, he's a top class striker who's currently lost his way a bit. And the team haven't been playing to his strengths recently either. Anyone who doesn't recognise that obviously wasn't around for the second half of the 2012-2013 season. Strikers all thrive on scoring goals. It's why they get up in the morning. So he's desparate for a goal. So are you (and others) really saying that he's now so disillusioned he's content to come on and trot around for a quarter of an hour without breaking sweat? Or, did he take up the best position that he thought might bring a goal from that break? And, on that, I'd trust his judgement over yours, mine or anyone else's on this forum!
Apart from it's unlike Deeney to pass in those situations, might Matty not have been waiting for the pull back or something to run on to? ... I just see this as more reason to think it's what they've been working at in training and there no point Vydra arriving if the ball gets played behind him.
I guess you had to have been there to understand the dynamic of the situation. Charlton were being torn apart and to a man we were excellent all day long, essentially scoring for fun. So Vydra's apathy was so distinct that it jarred.
What?? what game were you watching? ... By that time we were passing it around with little inclination to score. The runs Vydra did make went unheeded. PS. Not my words but Jon Marks's
I'm not sure he chose his words correctly then. Certainly we kept possession well but you don't throw on a supposedly hungry forward if you don't want to score ... Vydra needs to work harder for the team. Ps not my words but SJ's.
Technically he's right. Although he might want to think about moving to another forum full of likeminded souls rather than spoil things for everyone else.
That is precisely why I complained because whenever I start a similar thread to one that is already running, I get pounced on straight away by the likes of you and usually end up having it closed or amalgamated, but for some reason others seem to be allowed to do the same and the thread is allowed to continue :
Do you think you're better than me just because you say amalgamated instead of merged? Because you're not. You're not.
In the first half I criticised Vydra, not for his work rate, but his bravery to take a risk or two. But I really liked how straight from the start of the second half, he ran at players, took them on and chased them down when he lost the ball. Keep being positive, and he will score many more this season.
Boy.....did he need that goal today. Good finish too. Just imagine if he could find his form from 2 years ago.....added to what Ighalo and Deeney can give us!!
I'm having to rely on highlights to form a judgement here, but it seems that not only did he take his goal well, he also got himself in a position where he would have certainly netted the first if Iggy hadn't been there and rolled the ball with defence-splitting precision into the path of Deeney who set up the last two. I wouldn't have imagined for a moment that he could be used 'in the hole', but he seemed to be absolutely fine there.
I'm still standing by my prediction from two years ago that Forestieri will score the goal that secures our promotion. It's his destiny.
A new-fangled 3-3-4 formation? Interesting. Might be worth testing the next time we play someone carp (1st half only).
Booo Vydra doesn't care booooo - http://www.watfordfc.com/news/article/150124-watford-fc-vydra-reaction-to-blackpool-win-2225850.aspx
Should Vydra start against B'mouth? Vydra got his goal at the weekend, seemingly confident. Do you think he should start against Bournemouth? IF he does, we have more going forward and more supply to Ighalo and Deeney which could be vitally important with no Abdi. IF he doesn't, we have more in the middle and an option off the bench if things go **** up.. which they very well could. Thoughts?
Away from home I don't think so, that would commit too many people forward Gomes Cathcart Angella Hoban Layun............................................Anya Tozser Watson Munari Ighalo Deeney
Agreed. Go for it. Play to our strengths. Annihilate them. Watson instead of Hoban too please. Don't over-complicate it. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
