Potentially back to his best? Maybe it's just a confidence thing, but he looked on fire tonight and in my opinion deserves MOTM (who got it by the way?). He knew when to drop deep and sit in the hole to get the ball, he tracked back, he laid Igloo in and created space for players to attack in front of him. To top it off, he assisted Igloo with the through ball that won the penalty and then scored the winner - and what a peach that was! Only the future will tell if Vyd's is back to his best or not, consistency being the key factor here, but from what I gather he was excellent at Blackburn, topped off by an excellent opening goal, and tonight he was superb. That's three goals in four games and four for the season (I think). Based on tonight's performance, he'll bang in 20 this season without issue.
He's been putting the shifts in, but the service has let him down as our midfielders have looked lost and confused. Billy noticed this at Blackburn, and he's obviously made a point of correcting the problem.
I thought against BMouth he was making intelligent runs and wasnt being picked out, i thought he looked really good last night. Certainly on his way back to his best.
Was outstanding last night and his MoM performance capped off with a stunning winner, but next time Matej please grab that bloody ball off Ighalo.
He was also chasing down and cutting out the defenders options right up until he was taken off. Meant that the ball went back to Button instead of coming straight back at us. I really hope we get to see a full strength 11 get a good run of games soon.
He seemed to have a bit more of a free role last night and he was really influencing the game which he hadn't been doing previously this season. You could tell even in the warm up that he had more confidence probably because of his goal against Blackburn. He had a great game last night.
Was really good last night. Lots of movement, picked up lots of loose balls and scored a cracker. Looking forward to seeing how the upturn goes once Deeney is back!
Great goal. But why does the whole stadium sing his name and no one else's? He'll get back to his best just before trying again in the Premier League with another team
Does it not happen to your beloved Doyley. The reason everybody sung his name is that he was excellent and makes things happen. The same goes FF or Deeney. If he goes back to the PL its because he is talented enough to do so and wants to make himself a better player
Doesn't happen for my beloved Pudil either. Deeney or FF never get the reception Vydra gets, a player that left us and then came back when things didn't work out for him... No wonder there is little loyalty left in football
You make it sound like he was forced to come back. He wasn't. He wanted to. Deeney has two ****ing chants and the 'Deeney' is the loudest one in the stadium. Forestieri has his sung at him even when he's warming up. I dunno, the man runs himself into the ground for the team and still has this nonsense thought about him. I've never known another time where fans are on the players backs so much.
Hahahahhahahahahahhahahaha Deeney ran across the pitch at half time and it was louder than most chants we hear. Fernando warms up and gets a round of applause and a song. Laughable. In my eyes fair play he came back with his tail between his legs and put his head down. He's in a 22 year old man obviously the idea of riches/challenge got to him.
Yes Deeney did get a good reception, and FF does get a song when warming up. I never see the Rous/GT stand on their feet singing Deeney or FF's song after a goal like last night though.
Sorry, but that's just nonsense. Even at my (vic) end of the UGT it will be DEENEY, DEENEY or Whoa Forestieri.
Well I'll be sure to take more notice next time either of them score, just don't recall it being as loud personally.
Don't know why people having a go at Vydra for having a go at the Premier League, what about when Danny Graham did it? Was he unloyal?
It was a belter of a goal, it was a goal that put us back in the lead after conceding an equaliser, it was a goal that saw the Brentford players heads drop, because they had been the team looking more likely to get the next one, Matty is a confidence player getting back to his best, of course we went mental and sang his name, would you rather we sat and clapped politely while muttering "you are only back here cos nobody wants you"? As for your never seen the Rous/GT sing like that for a Deeney or FF goal, well that my friend is simply bolloxx.
So what do you suggest then? That decibel metering is installed and we get tannoyed to pipe down a bit if it gets overly raucous and might upset the others? Of course the stadium bloody well took off. There rarely is a goal like that ...
Mate you could have simply edited your spelling error, (then you could have taken the unwanted y off might.)
Vydra was extremely good last night, start to finish. He completely deserves the plaudits. I wonder how much of it is down to McKinlay's man management approach. He came in and immediately singled him out in public as a big player for the team, naming Vydra as a focal point and identifying a need for the rest of the team to find him more often. That has to be a huge confidence boost. It also appeared that the team was getting the ball to Vydra a lot more quickly last night which implies the tactics are being built around him. Again, that has to be a big confidence boost. Deeney is an important player for the team, but the team doesn't need to be built around him because he'll fit into virtually any formation we want play. Vydra and Abdi do need to be built around, however, and it seems that McKinlay has already recognised that.
He's hit form just as Steve Leo Igloo has come to prominence as the new boo boy and Tamas has been ruled out with injury There can only be one
I'm sure there is a thread on him somewhere but I have been unable to find it, so I apologise if there is! I actually think he is being unfairly slated, because I think he is not getting the correct service and is being utilised in the wrong way! He makes so many runs that do not seem to get picked up by his team mates, so of course he gets frustrated. Use him in the right way and he will score the goals, we are wasting his talents at present IMO!
true, but he seems to be a different player to what he was in 12/13. now all he seems to do is try silly flicks and his touch has become so dreadful. a goal would do him a massive good, but you cant say he's not playing badly
I often go to bed at night thinking how bad a position Vydra is in life, I'd be upset if I was making half a million a year in my early 20s for a team that could be playing against world class footballers in 6 months time. Pray4Vydra
