Got my results today, mostly 2:1s or borderline 2:2/2:1s, and a 1st. Thought i'd do a lot worse and fail to get 2:2s in anything so i'm pleased.

Thanks, you too. Yeh i do. I chose to do a feminism module instead of a dissertation. The things I thought I enjoyed and wanted to do a dissertation on had the life sucked out of them by studying them this year. The lecturer who would advise me on the things I was interested in was a right **** and I specially chose not to do a module i'd enjoy next year because he's teaching it.

Congratulations to everyone on here and good luck with future plans. My youngest just got her results in Nottingham and is happy with her 2:1. I no longer have children in education, hurrah! Having all three finished definitely feels like something to celebrate as much as when I finished myself.

Failed one of my 4 modules so I'm gonna have to do a resit. However I expected much much worse and considering that the module I failed was by far the hardest of the lot, I don't feel too bad about that.

Didn't actually do any exams as I've had my qualifications for a while now. However I did go through clearing.... and got three offers to study Computer Science.

Best uni was Sheffield, but only if I did a foundation year.
Loughborough offered me a place, highly rated uni, best sports facilities.
Swansea offered me a place, with a potential £2k per year bursary.

In the end I've decided to go for Loughborough. Not doing a foundation year, especially when I'm 21. A bursary would be nice, but need to put my career first and think that Loughborough has is the much better uni and has a better course.

Yeah, I know that Loughborough is pretty small, perhaps not the best night out.

My brother is at uni in Nottingham, only a stones throw away so will probably be visiting a few times

Bath is quite small, I don't mind it - it means you get lots of student sin one busy place which is good.

I went to Loughborough Uni. You won't regret choosing there.

Nights out are pretty good. Just not during the summer as all the other students have gone. But during the academic year there are quite a lot of places to go out.
I had an amazing time there (graduated 3 years ago)

Hahahaha.... previous to what I said, it turns out it wasn't as sorted as I thought.

Loughborough, the scum canuts, decided to withdraw their offer. Was not very happy at all......

So, I'm off to the land of sheep in Swansea! This was my original offer and I was delighted with it then... so I'm not going to let Loughborough overshadow that.

Just looking forward to leaving my job and going to uni now... less than 1 month to go

the first two are proper subjects but what the hell is the last

is it what was called pure and applied mathematics in my day

still probably better than media studies politics and more likely to get you a degree and then a job

Think they are two different subjects: Maths and then Systems and Controls

Swansea has a really good nightlife. I go to Cardiff and I know in Wales lots of people come down from the Valleys to Cardiff and Swansea for the weekend for nights out. Easy to get to on the train from London Paddington too. Cardiff and Swansea's rugby teams play an annual game at the Millenium Stadium and they bus in all the swansea fans and students for it which is pretty good.

That's really ****ty of Loughborough though. Did they give a reason? They withdrew the offer rather than you not meeting the cut? That sounds strange. Maybe they had more people than they expected with the required grades. When I got into Cardiff I got 2 grades under my offer but the Welsh Assembley recently allocated more funding to the uni allowing more places than they thought they had when setting the requirements so I got in.
Cool, I knew people who did maths and they said it sucks. Enjoy it though. I did the complete opposite to those sorts of things at A level.

The problem was more that they did not understand my qualification, accepted me and then came back a couple of days later, asked for a certificate and when I sent it they changed their mind.

That kind of thing pisses me off. If it's conditional, say so in the first place... wasted so much time, I'm very lucky that Swansea could still offer me the place.
