Report saying the Pozzo's are looking to recruit former Roma manager, Zdenek Zeman. http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2014/05/05/former-roma-manager-wanted-by-watford-report/
I don't think there's actually anything new in there, it's just brought up an old report, but nonetheless that link remains and it might happen.
I've heard a few times now that he'd only consider coming here in the summer. Beppe might have done enough to stay on for another year but with all this stuff behind the scenes now the Pozzos might opt for Zeman.
I'll admit, I have no clue who Zeman is but I've seen it a few times now and enough to think it could be a viable option. The way some of you lot have spoken about him too suggest that he would be a good thing, is that right? Now for the humour: Does he have a YouTube video? Is he as animated as Sannino?
Scoring more goals than the opposition is what it's all about. If we can't have Zola back then it's a yes from me.
Spoke to a Czech friend who was shocked he was being mentioned as a possible coach for us. A bit of a hero in his home country, apparently, who is quite the disciplinarian and who's aim is to play attacking football. Also, he's good friends with some guy called Matej. Although I think my friend missed off a winky smiley with that comment. Big yes from me.
I'd really like for the club to go out on a limb here, do something crazy and consider a British manager.

Agreed. However it does make a bit of sense to bring it up now, as it appeared the only chance we'd have of getting Zeman in would be in the summer. Can't see it happening myself but would be happy I'm sure if it did.
There is nothing like a google translated article to cheer me up a little... "We speak therefore of a very possible flashback to the summer, with Zeman who has no foreclosures to English football and with Nani remains convinced he can propose a kick now very well known in Italy but that still amaze and could be talked about in a landscape in some ways still "virgin" as one of English football, net of 4/5 big that they always do, in turn, a league of their own."
In a nutshell it's like baking a cake! The Ponzo's give us ingredients from all over the world but with a huge European flavour, add in some home grown flavouring and then set about getting the best cook they can to stir the mix into an award winning gastronomic dish that they hope will win the football version of ready steady cook!
Interestingly it mentions Cassetti as a possible coach. That would make a lot of sense, a player with Championship experience and obviously massive playing experience
Same, I think a season under Zeman would either be amazing, or awful. It'd be a massive coup. I still think it's a bit unrealistic, seeing as he was the manager of Roma not too long ago!
For a little bit extra on him: http://m.europe.wsj.com/articles/SB10001424052702303830204577444361592390248?mg=reno64-wsj
"Well, they win because they have the best players, not because of what they do. I could put my dead grandfather in charge of their teams and they would still win." Brilliant!
Anything said about Cassetti becoming a coach is surely at this stage conjecture and assumption at best. He just happens to be someone coming to the end of his playing career who previously played under him, who also happens to have spoken about wanting to coach in the future.
The stuff in that WSJ article about his training being intense but not tiring because it is fun is really interesting. I like the idea of not being as tired when you're enjoying yourself - not sure how well it translates to elite sport but it certainly is the case for me that I can exercise for way, way longer if I enjoy whatever activity it is. It's a simple idea and I like it.
Somewhat unsurprisingly, seems Vydra likes Zeman. Per his agent: Zeman also supposedly rates Vydra as Roma were rumoured to be after him when he was on fire for us. Zeman was their manager at that time.
Id take another Zola esque year of brilliant football ending with narrowly missing promotion any day of the week. I would also take a dour season of 1-0s to win the title
Great, a transitional year in which he gets to know the Championship but doesn't get us promoted so gets sacked and then we have another transitional year under a new manager (sorry, head coach) who doesn't know the Championship but does know a lot about Italian football and then ... What's the Italian for Groundhog Day?
