His pre-season and rule of 11 will kill their chances.

I still believe we would have stayed up if Marlon hadnt got injured.

If Edwards, who is known for his man management skills, can get Barkleys head straight he could prove to be a valuable signing. I ******* hope not though.

Quite the contrary, I think Barkley is a banker.

If he can motivate Barkley as well as he did Sarr then Derbys points record is in danger.

Well done for wording something completely different to what I said. For his career and for Watford it’s better he doesn’t leave.

    Apologies for my misunderstanding.

So moving from a shyt club to a good club is a bad career move. Now I see.

I don’t think it’s quite as simple as that in his eyes as Asprilla is still a young player only just coming into the game and a big move like that won’t suit him in the short term

If I were Yaser and Brighton came calling I'd be pushing for a move. Even if he only made 5 appearances at Brighton this season, being coached by De Zerbi will make him a far better player than he'd become here. That's why I'm delighted Pedro chose them.

Asprilla and his agent are not in a position to push for a transfer, he has three years left on his contract is not a regular starter and on a very low salary. Watford could just play him in the U21's for a year and not lose anything.

Being surrounded by far, far better players, coached by a far, far better coach, massive increase in wages...

By any measure it's good for his career, especially considering he is not even a regular starter for us.

Better to be a bench warmer for a premier League side on the up than for a championship side staring into the abyss.

Brighton have reached peak, bigger clubs continue to buy their best players buying players from the Championship isn't going to improve them

Brighton pay what we want and he's gone, simple as that.

Yes, so Asprilla going to Brighton is a stepping stone to an even bigger club.

In other words, a fantastic career move.

  22. Moosedog

    Moosedog Reservist

That is not the same as Asprilla forcing a move. The decision is Watford's not him or his agent and Brighton will not offer what we would want

We wanted Suarez and Estupinan to play in the Championship but both decided they didn't want to...

You are talking about two players that never played a competitive game for the club, plus we made decent money on both. 23m euro profit if you believe transfermarket plus sell on if there were any

No doubt Asprilla goes if any other clubs want him enough, but a) he's now played for us this season in the Championship, and b) he's not as ready-made for a bigger club in the top flight than those two were

Sure. Just making the point that if a player really decides he wants to go, the club will probably give in and take the cash

We obviously wanted them to stay, there'd been publicity shots of them in the new kit and hyped up training videos. But push came to shove, we sold them.

Remains to be seen if Asprilla will ask to leave if other clubs are circling.

It hard to see who (in this country) would sign Asprilla at the price Watford would want. Clubs like Brighton need to know that a player costing tens of millions is ready to play in their first team and, unlike Pedro, Asprilla hasn’t shown that yet. A bigger club might take more of a chance, but they would still need to be pretty sure he will develop into a player good enough for them, which again I don’t think he has shown yet.

It's a pity the Luton chairman has hair, spoils a Garibaldi pun.

The unfortunate thing for me is that I had to Google him to see what he looks like.

Unsurprisingly he has the face of a ferret, and the runt of the litter at that.

Thought he was superb yesterday. Hoodt was clearly MOTM but Yaser was MOTM for the second half. He reinvigorated out attacking momentum with some lovely first touches and a number of sublime passes that cut through numerous defenders.

Needs to start ahead of Ken who is restrained by playing on the right because his strength is going on the outside , getting to the byline and crossing on his strong left foot.

Still only on 2 assists for us iirc, which is insane and absolutely does not reflect his creative contribution for us. I think the idea behind picking Ken is his defensive contribution, but he's looked rather blunt so far this season (assist from a set piece notwithstanding). Would like to start with Asprilla next week, especially as I don't imagine Ince will be parachuted straight into the starting XI (though it would be funny if it comes against one of his many former clubs), be interesting to see if Asprilla starts
