I'm glad more of you are now supporting my point of view about Gino & Co's lack of communication with us fans. Even some of you who were actually ridiculing me for criticising the clubs lack of communication when I originally brought it up seem to now agree with me.

It seems that it really is true when people say that football is a funny old game, especially as it appears to bring out so many mixed up emotions.

Having reflected on it since we were first linked I think I’d be happy with Troost-Ekong, certainly more so than Mawson.

My only reservation is that it would mean 6 CBs and all of them right footed.

I hope this is true, because out of the many players we have been linked with, Troost-ekong is one of the few that I think would be a good fit for our club.

Bit of a shame, hoping Sierralta isn't our only CB signing but expecting to be disappointed...

I started listening the season before last, and when things were going quite well, it was a nice little listen.

When we were crap though, it was painful stuff, in part because when we lose, I’m not looking to relive the whole experience, but mainly because their ceaseless positivity and rampant bum-licking of the club became too much.

Fair play to them, they’ve managed to commercialize trivial chatter about our club and parlay it into decent opportunities for themselves, but once they joined AL in becoming a bunch of paid spokespeople for the club, they lost the sense of innocent meaninglessness that made it listenable to begin with.

Totally agree. I’ve listened during the summer just in case any little snippets come out regarding recruitment - like the Troost-Ekong info today. I will happily stop listening once the window closes. But as you say, fair play that they’ve turned it into something profitable for them.

I just don’t find their attitudes even remotely mirror the wider range of emotions fans feel. Most fans I know were genuinely furious at relegation and all the things surrounding the club at the time - that kind of anger was never displayed or even mentioned on the podcast.

I'm not so sure. There are a number on here who whine about how negative people currently feel. It's as if the whole of last season just passed them by. Give me Nath as my spokesman any time to tell the clowns who run this club and who played for the club last season exactly how we feel!

Yeah, agreed. Maybe I’ve read it wrong, but it felt to me as though they were happy with the increased access/profile they’d gained with the club, and weren’t willing to rock the boat or address the genuine negatives. Fair enough from their perspective, but I think they lost credibility in terms of representing how most fans felt.

    Which is a shame.

You don't need a spokesman to criticise every player, every performance, every signing. Anyone can be negative, all the time. They give up before they have started. In the shoutbox the same people laugh when we are losing, and often disappear when we are winning, and cynicism and sarcasm is their main (only) method of "debate".

It's the same incessant hyperbole negative narrative whatever is happening. No reasoning, no nuance, and no point. That is what annoys me.

People like Nath have predicted us getting relegated every season since we came up, and now you celebrate their wisdom when they eventually get it right!

As you know, I'm a glass half full person, and I think we can win every game we start. I want us to succeed, etc, etc. But it isn't incessant positive nonsense. I am still able to criticise performances and the club when I see fit, and I do so on a regular basis.

In the politics section, we are not on the same side. It is understandable our views are so entrenched. But on a football discussion forum I just think that reasoned debate is the preferable way.

If you want to tackle the club, tackle them direct. Email them, or stand outside with a placard, or something.

Will people please let me know when the placard demonstration is happening. I like a counter demo.

It's difficult for people to adjust. Finances dictated that we would always be relegated one day but 5 years in a row made many think that we were now an established prem club and always would be. Even now there are plenty expecting us to be promoted automatically despite the historic stats and ignoring the fact that if we do go up, we will be favourites to come back down again. People have short memories and many will be unhappy until we are sitting comfortably in the prem and planning for a challenge on the Euro slots. They will have a long wait and be unhappy for a long time.

Correct , better to be miserable all the time so that when something bad does eventually happen, it won’t come as a surprise .

This isn’t what dictates my unhappiness with the club. I can’t speak for others of course. For me the owners have largely squandered the premier league income on their outdated model. I agree 100% we were certain to be relegated at some point due to our financial disadvantage. However if we had come down with minimal debt and a core of players who still wanted to play for us that would have been fine. However our situation is a mountain of external debt, a bunch of mercenaries who it seems can’t even be trusted to train while they wait for their moves and a legacy of over spending on club operating expenses over several seasons compared to our peers. The club also feels to me like it has a rotten culture, with lots of player power and owner (henchman) interference in team affairs.

On the flip side we have accumulated some exciting looking young players which at least gives something to build on. However it’s hard not to feel we should be in a better spot than this after 5 years in the top division.

Also a concern is that the exciting looking young players could have the very same mercenary tendencies and were still likely sold the move to us as a stepping stone.
