I don't think that is something you can coach. Being "up for a game" is up to the individual players. Look at last season for example. No matter how utterly pathetic are team performed on most weeksm some of them did care each game, then you had that clown Foster who was more into his social media than his football. He was prime example of a player who never wanted to be good game in game out (mostly due to leaving at the end of the season). Winning boosts confidence but I think the manner of our wins so far have been, well a bit fortunate it a few, and you could play devils advocate and say perhaps we were fortunate. One example of this is Gaspar's cross/sliced pass that fell directly into Bayo's path in the Boro' win. In football and sport in general you make your own luck and sometimes you get a helping hand, but in order for us to be consistent - we need to look at today as a template. We are not going to perform to this standard for the renaining 30 games, that's asking a bit too much from such a light weight squad in terms of available playing staff. What it can be though, and this is something they need to take on board in the six days leading up to our trip to Wigan, is that the standard has been set now. Pride comes before a fall and we have had enough falls in these openning 16 games to know that.
One of the best ever days at Vicarage Road, f’ing brilliant from the team and our fans today…oh and Luton were nowhere to be seen after the match, it doesn’t get much better
How right you are, absolutely fantastic performance and totally unexpected after the recent feeble efforts at Blackpool and Millwall. They need to build on this result, not cave in at Wigan next week.
Well the boys proved me well and truly wrong. Thought we would get battered today. Can’t add much more to what’s already been said, but I must say I thought Lut*n were very lucky to only have one man sent off. Absolutely disgusting dirty little cheats. Right from the off, their game plan was to clearly kick the crap out of our boys. So many off the ball incidents that went unpunished by the ref and lino. Had VAR been at the game today, I think they would have been reduced to 10, possibly even 9, in the first half alone. Second half they did exactly the same. Zero interest in playing football, their focus was solely on smashing our boys and trying their best to deliberately injure them. Yet again, multiple off the ball incidents that went unpunished. Their game plan, if you can call it that, was kick them, wind them up, get them to react and try to get Watford down to 10 men. So I actually want to congratulate our boys for not reacting to their cheating antics. That’s why Ekong did what he did when their boy got sent off. It had been going on all game from them. We were also denied what looked like 2 clear pens, that with VAR in my opinion, would of/have been awarded. So not only did we deserve to batter them, they should be grateful it was only 4-0. On another day they could have/of been playing with 8-9 men and we could have/of been awarded 2 pens. They were very lucky it wasn’t more like 6/7-0! I really hope the club will actually make a proper extended highlights video that is 20-30mins, and not one of those poxy 5min videos.
Jones claiming Luton had the sh1ts before the game. Maybe that explains why they sh1t their pants during it I was really worried about this match and feared the worst. Amazing result but how do we get these players to be consistent? It's hard to find fault after a performance like that but this inconsistency is bonkers.
Woke up this morning feeling great Won 4 nil and could've been 8 Luton's on the floor coz they've all got diarrhea Something tells me there's fecking context here .....
If you’re born in New Zealand, would you support Luton? Seriously. Something doesn’t really add up here.
Something that puzzles me as well - from where did our team learn how important this match was? Would that be, the reborn, WTE's influence?
To be fair, he seemed a pretty decent “normal” football fan (who loves his dog). Probably because he’s originally from New Zealand, not L***n. I feel sorry for him, for whatever circumstances led him to support them.
I used to work with a Kiwi bloke who was a Watford fan, his English grandfather came from Watford which explains it. This bloke is probably a scummer for a similar reason.
FF to when you see the score increase by one goal in the background, then rewind 30 seconds to enjoy the moment
Or him telling his dog it's acting weird today whilst the poor animal is sat in a room full of Luton memorabilia
If anyone needs a pick me up on a Monday morning, here are John Marks' commentaries of the goals.... http://www.wfc.net/22-23/highlights/
I'm posting this music video because I think local rivalries are great but at the same time I think it's important to respect the culture of the people of Luton. I wish all Luton fans well as they return to their dwellings, regardless of whether those dwellings have wheels or not. Gypsy Dance by All About Eve
