4 of those games are against teams that are struggling down the bottom and the 5th is a very up and down Reading. It's a great opportunity to get a run of results going especially if this team is serious about promotion
I could not agree with this more. It felt like we were a united club, a feeling that has been missing.
If we continued the most irritating trend of W L W L W L W L for 30 more games, we would have 68 points. Would that be enough for Playoffs?
What surprised me most today was the lack of fight and heart from the filth, it was what I was dreading from us but not expecting from them.
Also, full credit to Harry The Hornet for doing the poisonous dwarf chest pump routine in front of the filth players as they walked off the pitch.
What a crazy club, I get really down after a couple of poor losses, call it quits, and then Norwich. Happens again..then the Luton result.! We've beaten 3 teams who were in top 2 at the time, lost to some dross inbetween HOWEVER...... We're one win off play-offs and two wins off top 2.!! I have a feeling Bilic is starting to get thru to the players, we just have to realise that any lower teams of bruisers can always stop us in our tracks from time to time...
Felt a bit like a script we've seen before was playing out. We've done it in the PL. Turn up ready to be all bolshy and on a high, feeling like a win is doable with a fair wind, and then finding the home team convert the bulk of their chances and the crowd carries them over the line.
Largely nowhere near (relatively) - in four of the last five seasons, it's taken either 74(x1) or 75(x3) to sneak into that final spot. Even in the one outlier, it was 70.
It's a rare thing when you see the perfect match......but today was it. Last time was probably that Liverpool win. I really feel this could have gone horribly wrong. Had we put in another Millwall type performance that would be the final nail as far as the patience of the fans went. We just HAD TO give that type of performance today. For me, Davis gave his best performance in a Watford shirt. For the first time I can see what the Forest fans saw in him. He was dominant, commanding, outstanding. To a man, Watford played an intelligent game. Every outfield player gave at least 8 out of 10. Pedro unplayable. What a talent. The midfield were excellent. Never have I seen Choudhury and Kayembe play to that level. Gosling superb. Sema caused load of problems. Cathcart commanding at the back. As a team we just wanted it more than them. Although WTE had a few ropey moments, his attitude and desire shone through. Real leadership shown from him today. The only downer was Bachmann. Rooted to his line again. Out-jumped to a high ball that the striker put on the roof of the net. Didn't contest a routine corner and Luton really should have scored from it. He just doesn't do anything apart from reaction saves. We really need a more commanding keeper and for me I'd be looking at a new keeper in January. Today was ours. We deserved a big win and this is the level we can play at. The difficulty for Bilic is getting this bunch up for it in EVERY game.
Must be something to do with October 23rd, a year today since THAT win at Goodison. Bilic must have dished out one helluva an @rse kicking over the last couple of days, you couldn't have asked for a better performance after the spineless capitulation at The Den on Wednesday. That was the level of effort expected in EVERY match today, not just when the players feel like it.
We need to average 1.75 points per game to get 75 points, WLWL would only give us 1.5! just put a decent run together like we did 2 years ago and we will be there!
Yep, football is about moments when you follow a team that never has a chance of winning anything. And that is one hell of a moment. If you're not wandering around for the rest of the day humming some of today's songs, there's something wrong with you.
Wah, wah, wah, not fair, not fair. We each had 3 chances, not fair, not fair. Red card, not fair, not fair. Congrats to Norwich. Who were the other lot? Oh dear. How sad. Never mind!
Obviously I do care how we do in the league (promotion is still important, and hey, it's looking a little bit more likely now!), but I'm feeling really at peace with the season now (until April anyway!), this was really a historical win!
Just one dampener on the game today. Here are the instructions we were given during the week for exiting the ground: “Supporters seated in the Sir Elton John Stand or Rookery Stand: please exit the stadium down Occupation Road into Cardiff Road and then Wiggenhall Road to rejoin Vicarage Road.” That’s fine because that’s they way we leave the Rookery anyway. But no! The south-east exit was blocked off and we had to leave via the south- west exit and then follow a circuitous route, which we were not familiar with, via various bits of waste ground back to Cardiff Road. People were annoyed anyway but imagine what it would have been like if we had lost. This club!
Jones is an eloquent soul isn’t he? “They’ve got Premier League players, Premier League everything in terms of that”. Edit: is he really also claiming that they’ve only lost the ball which has led to them conceding 3 times in 6 years?!
I mean, you didn't have to. The people are stronger when they resist together. We lost good people in the fight to surge through the defensive lines set up by the high viz goons in the south west corner but ultimately the people prevailed. I'm sure @Clive_ofthe_Kremlin would have approved of the scenes.
Must admit, it didn't really make a lot of sense. Okay, so they didn't want all the Luton fans coming out and mixing immediately with the Watford supporters coming up Occupation Road, but surely the only thing to do is keep the away fans back for 15 minutes and then focus all the police on their dispersal. That way anyone who simply wants to just get home can do so without incident and any losers hanging round to cause trouble with the away fans can be more easily dealt with by the police.
We couldn’t go today as my son had a football camp up at Lilleshall, both gutted now. Even worse for him he’s in A&E after a bad peanut allergy reaction. does anyone know if they’ll show the full game at anytime on Sky?
I thought after all the hype about this the club really let us down today. After warning the fans off using the g-word I noted 4 examples of it broadcast over the stadium PA today. Such as: **** for Watford scored by number 7, Keinan Davis! **** for Watford scored by number 5, William Troost-Ekong And so it went on. I texted and texted asking the club to stop the abuse but they seemingly paid no attention
