She also seemed to have almost no knowledge or understanding of football either. Like a second rate primary school teacher who got shoved onto the pitch and given a microphone.
Another wasted opportunity to get more points on the board, admittedly we gave away awful goals but if Bayo had half a brain he would have rolled his first half chance along the ground to the far post and he was unlucky with his header in the 2nd half which no one seems to have mentioned. Martins was unlucky with his effort towards the end which skimmed the bar! I don’t remember Boro having any chances apart from the ones they scored from, you could say had we scored more they would have upped the anti but at the end of the day after an entertaining second half we were left with Zilch!
Are you people having fun in this league? Much for fun losing to middlesbrough and Stoke and Blackburn etc than man city and Arsenal etc isn't it. This is what you wished for. This is what being a championship side is. Can you please explain in detail what is fun about this season.
It's weird, but even though we're doing far worse than last season already, I'm actually enjoying this season a lot more. We seem to be 'in' a lot more games, even if we're not getting the wins or draws our play feels like it deserves something. Definitely need a bit more steel and protection in midfield, and I'd like us play with a bit more pace and directness but it feels a lot more engaging than last year at the very least.
I think you may of forgotten the minus sign in front of the first 5. Louza as you said was crap, which is totally correct - he has been a passenger all season bar QPR. That was a long time ago in the context of a season. He needs binning and extra hours training to get his head back in the game. I think it's his awful haircut.
Agreed but I think with this he’s tried to fix the attacking problems as he don’t trust either of those two in the lone role. Tried to be too clever essentially.
Shockingly poor defensive performance. Space everywhere, Mboro were spoilt for choice of who to play in on goal with a free run at the 3 CBs. Dele Bashiru played well. Bayo looked sharp and took his goal well. Louza, Raj, Lewis, awful. Lewis and Louza looked completely disinterested/uninterested. We still look a collection of individuals without a plan. Just poorer individuals. What on earth has happened to the team that ran in 4 before HT in that first game ? We are poor and disjointed enough to be sucked into a relegation battle.
It just shows that Boro were no great shakes, Despite how poor we were for large parts of the game we could have quite easily come away with something today. Like you say Bayo missed a virtual sitter to make it 2 all before half time and on another day Martins effort goes under the bar instead of hitting it. The goals we gave away were a horror show of defending. Players caught out of position, midfield far too easy to play through, ball watching and the ease with which Ngakia (for the 1st) and Hoedt (for the 3rd) let the goalscorer run past and away from them. As another post rightly put it, we just seemed totally oblivious to the danger. And I dont recall a Watford side that's looked as slow as we did today - and I dont just mean in terms of outright pace but in all aspects of the game. Slow to move the ball, slow to see the pass, slow to see the danger, slow to read the game. All of it, we were really off the pace at times. This is one of the most disappointing things today for me. We started the 2nd half the better team, got some momentum and scored a deserved equalizer. I thought, at that point, we would push on to win the game. Instead it was Boro who kicked on more than us.
Bayo seemed like he was basically playing the lone role today anyway with how poor Rajovic was, yet he managed to do it pretty well. It could also be that he's loathe to drop Rajovic from the starting lineup already completely given the club have only just bought him.
As usual a variety of opinions on here. One that surprises me is the number of people who thought Dele-Bashiru played badly. I thought he was one of our best players: He was playing a difficult role in a tight midfield and often managed to ball-retain and create a pass whilst opposition midfielders were in close attendance. He showed plenty of energy. I do agree that Bayo, despite being a somewhat limited player, was man of the match (only for Watford, obviously). Both were clearing low bars, though. Collectively, the midfield and defenders were woeful: Carved apart with absolute ease by one of the lowest teams in the league. And I think TuT is right: A worrying lack of teamwork or plans was evident - just bewildered individuals. The coach has to take some responsibility for this; paradoxically he MAY have bought himself a little more time by holding his hands up for this.
To be fair he did get manhandled out of the stadium which showed the ownership for the scum it is? may have put some others off not wanting the hands of the brown shirts on them!
Thankfully, due to Sheff Wednesday, there are essentially only 2 relegation spots this season. If we stay up this season, I think we'll go down next season.
your name is not one of those that I would associate with writing posts that are highly critical of the regime over a longer period of time. Jumbo, moog, nath etc have been banging that drum for a very long time. So therefore not sure why your current posts are written as if you are the only bloke critical of the regime
Bayo is not a good finisher and has limitations but I find myself warming to him. He does seem to get into good positions. I do also like how he will bust a gut pressing the opponents and making runs.
Hoedt got outpaced by that big lump up top who looked like he could well be the second slowest striker in the division (behind Rajovic obvs).
The 19 year old that schooled all 3 centre backs all game? We are crying out for someone like that aren't we.
Come to the ladies matches. Cheap, close to the action and a nice experience that keeps you connected with WFC.
Yep, he ran straight past him. Hoedt doesn't even seem to change gears. It was the same for the first goal with Ngakia. He can see that Porteous has been caught flat footed, he can see the pass being made but he just carries on jogging while the goalscorer who was level with him sprints through and scores
Calm down, we’ll be fine. Pozzo’s shown us before he can build squads to deliver what we need for the season. Keep the faith!!
The first goal is more on Porteous than Ngakia - Porteous is the CB and goal-side, whereas Ngakia is the wing back. While they both let the striker run off him ultimately he was Porteous' man.
First one all started when we gave the ball away in midfield and Crooks had all the time in the world to set McGree up . Same for the 2nd.
But look what that got Dotty Thornhill. A seat in the Lords and taxpayers funding her expenses for everyone to hear her pearls of wisdom the corrupt harridan.
Probably a lack of a footballing brain or awareness . Ngakia just seems to lose the ball then runs back and tries to hack /tackle the player down like you might see on a Sunday morning pitch . Same a bit for Porteous .
We're not that bad... we just need to tighten up a little at the back and not give the ball away as much. These are things we can improve - we just need to do it quickly
I'd agree with that, were it so easy. We don't have many options to play with though defensively which will need to be corrected in January. 4 CB's, each with their own distinct flaws which can't be easily masked by another is a huge issue as is not having a proper defensive midfielder. The simple option would be to pack the midfield with more defensive minded players like Kayembe and Livermore and having Louza be the main fulcrum to launch attacks with Bayo, Martins and Ince / Asprilla be the attacking outlets but it compromises the style of play VI wants to employ.
