Agreed, but then perhaps we need to play defensive full backs rather than attacking wing backs in this instance, like Doyley last weekend.

Although of course our width might then suffer.

To be fair I thought Paredes defended very well against Antonio. Most sides when they set up against our attacking options will not push on that much so having a more attack minded defender for me is the better option. I am of course biased though as I don't rate Doyey

Just watched that on hornets player - in no way is there a covering defender stopping Vydra scoring

    Amazing decision

Neither do I at all, but it might be a compromise in the bigger games, for teams who are a threat out wide, and will look to draw out an attacking wingback and exploit the space left behind.

I'm more worried about the LB position though tbh, as I don't think Pudil has the pace to recover as quickly as JCP.

I agree on the left back situation. I like Pudil but a lot of his bookings are down to the opposition being too quick for him. Doyley is handy to have in the squad and on occasions might be useful to bring on to see a game out but I would have Paredes in front of Lloyd for every game

I thought we were exceptional, for an hour it really was a brilliant performance and to be honest was better in almost every way from even Zola's good times.

I haven't ever seen us retain possession to comfortably to bide our time and pick our moments to break forwards so consistantly. In the first half we barely lost the ball. We kept it patienely and almost every time we decided to pick a spot going forwards it created a chance.

And that is against one of the best teams in the division and without Deeney, after only a week and a half with the new manager.

The squad got us this far on individual quality due to the managerial upheaval, and I think now we will see some real potential being unleashed under Jokanovic, or whatever his name is. Forest weren't even in the game for most of yesterday, it was barely a contest. On another day that would have been a thrashing - the fact they scored from their only two breaks and didn't have one (or two) men sent off is a testament to their fortune and in fairness a clinical effort on behalf of Antonio, who was essentially their only (and a huge) threat.

We look great, frankly. God knows how we might look with a bit of time.

Good write up Pot Guy. Just watched Jokanovic's full post match interview on HP, and in somewhat broken English he concluded 'this is our home, we are going to dominate you' - you've got to love that.

"We played good attacking football, but made one mistake and Nottingham Forest scored a goal," he added. "I am going to insist we try and play in this way, sometimes we are going to make mistakes." That sounds fine by me, promotion isn't the be all and end all, and part of the depression about last season was the way we continued conceeding silly goals even though we were no longer that sexy go-hung football team

That's just like Forest though isn't it? To be arrogant. They've long been like that.

It's those arrogant show-off stars they insist on having on their shirts. Makes 'em think they won the World Cup.

I don't think it should be allowed. Stars on shirts should be reserved for world cup winners.

As European Cup winners (against MV Malmo part-timers or someone wasn't it?) they should be allowed to have a couple of little Eiffel Towers above their badge and that's it.

cheers was at the game ,but good to watch again ,still think it was a red card ,but could see why the ref was able to bottle it .

Derby are top because they've kept 6 consecutive clean sheets now..tight at the back, often nicking a win.

We're not quite top because, while we are the best attacking side in the division (based on goals scored), we leak goals too regularly. Forest, Blackburn etc.

So of the current top 2, Derby's success is built on their defence, ours on our attack. And I know who I'd rather watch!

3 of our 4 home games since Sannino departed have ended in slightly disappointing draws, but there were enough signs on Tuesday night I think to be confident that we can and will improve once Jokanovic is settled in, and I believe he will make us more street-wise, and that letting leads go when playing well could soon be more of a thing of the past.

    I'd say

    Darlow 9
    Lichaj 7
    Wilson 7.5
    Manscienne 7.5
    Harding 7.5

Note on the back four - people who say they're not performing haven't played in defence before.. They were under constant pressure for most of the game.

Burke 7.5 - first half didn't touch the ball
Osborn 6 - hate to say it, he's a nothing player. Can't impose himself against good opposition (yet)
Tesche 6 - does nothing wrong. Just does nothing.
Vaughan 7.5 - great to do 90.. tried
Antonio - 9 a constant menace. Best performance in a red shirt

Britt 7 - tried but needs to hold the ball up more

    Hope that helps

From watching the highlights, it was great to see Nando arriving late in the box to pick up and/or shoot from rebounds and poor clearances. I haven't really noticed a player of ours doing that in quite some time and I reckon we could get quite a few goals from that. It's the type of thing that Gerrard and Lampard did quite a lot of and I hope it continues.

Nonsense. We should have a baby (possibly Prince George, to add a bit of class) above our badge, to signify our FA Youth Cup win. And maybe a pair of Long Johns, to celebrate our Football Combination championship.

It was grand larceny. However if we keep that level of performance up and improve still further there will be few sides capable of living with us this season.
