You'd think not tbh. I think that was wishing thinking anyone would clap a group of players off after a result like that no matter who they were. In fact I suspect had social media etc been around then losing to a fellow relegation rival 5-0 would have gone down very badly!
Thought the Cov fans were excellent today. Probably up there with Palace for the best Ive seen at Vicarage Road. I generally like teams from towns that spawn good bands ( apart from Utd and City) so have always been a fan of Cov. Was a shame our fans mocked them for not having a ground - would be nice to see fns stick together on these matters.
Its always disappointing to loose, but today just wasnt our day. Its an easier lose to take then the Millwall game. I thought we started the game better then we have been starting games this season and actually played quite well in parts, especially the first half. Too many of our bigger players seemed to have an off day today. Sarr had a bit of a mare, Sema didnt do alot outside of his first half freekick and Pedro never really got going. Even the atmosphere inside the ground was subdued. We had some decent chances in the 2nd half with Sarr, Sema, Davis and Hungbo all going close - which on another day we probably score one or two of these and nick a result. Once Sarr managed to shin the ball over an open goal from barely a few yards out you just knew it wasnt going to be our day. I thought Kayembe didnt have a bad game in fairness, but like Hamza, hes there to break up play more then anything. I see hes getting singled out for a lack of progression and slowing down the play but in truth most of the team were guilty of that today at times. Sema was arguably the worst culprit for it. And that was probably my one real criticism about todays performance, we were far too pedestrian in moving the ball. Fair play to Coventry, they looked well drilled and knew the game plan. The number 17 was a handful and as others have said is a player we should maybe be looking at in the future. Their goal was avoidable and if Kamara doesnt get himself hopelessly lost out of position leaving a huge gap for Allen to exploit then they probably don t go on and score. It was the lino who disallowed the goal, the ref didnt blow until the flag went up which is why all around me in the Rookery thought it was disallowed for offside.
It wasnt a month earlier, Charleroi signed him from Gent for 1.5mil on july 1st. The following day we signed him from Charleroi for 5.8mil!!
One positive from today is that it’s further evidence that we have absolutely had Udinese’s pants down in them giving us £16m for Kamara. At this point, I’m not really convinced he is any better than Masina.
There’s nothing more uplifting after getting home wet and miserable after an unexpected home defeat without even a goal to enjoy, than a quick though this forum. Happy days.
They announced the signing in mid May although maybe he didn't technically join until later. https://www.sporting-charleroi.be/news/vakoun-bayo-definitivement-zebre-jusquen-2026/
Not convinced it was that, as he did fairly consistently beat his man, but when he did his end product was almost always woeful
What kind of idiot owner spends that kind of money on Kamara? There should be demonstrations against that guy!
In all seriousness, you can tell Kamara used to be a winger, whereas Masina was, with one notable exception, pretty useless in the other half and not that good in his own half neither
On a positive note, Bradford Town went 3 down then scored a last minute pen to win 4-3. I then checked the Watford score.....
Kamara is 29 in March and has played over 200 games. His decision to charge out of position yesterday leading to the goal is one I'd expect to see in a game on a Sunday morning. Pathetic.
Me too. Near the Coventry fans and they were excellent. Hardly a peep from our lot. Coventry a well drilled side and fair play they played a good counter attack game with their no 17 very tricky although he had the same shooting boots as Sarr. We were just slow in the build up and totally predictable. No creativity through the centre and we’re really missing Louza. Pedro very poor by his standards, nothing he tried came off. Asprilla when he came on immediately produced a great through ball and chance - exactly what we lacked all game as the wing play wasn’t working. A frustrating pedestrian performance. Bilic has to pick them up for Reading and stop the excuses about them being tired ffs
Agreed, thought Bilic should have swapped Sema and Sarr round especially against a team defending with seven players on the edge of the box. Kept on running into trouble.
I was just in the splash zone and that was bad enough. Really felt for everyone in the lower tiers with driving rain in yer face. Miserable.
Should of taken her to Millwall - that would of put any protential new hornet fan off after that crap show.
I thought Gykores was good. Would be happy to see him in a yellow shirt (ok I know he plays for Sweden) but why he would, I can’t answer.
We have Kamara on the overlap or Sarr cutting in field as the two options right now. Sarr can't use his left foot (arguably worse than Kayembe). Coventry negated this pretty well and Sarr often was cutting inside into a blind alley.
I really enjoyed the game. We played some lovely stuff in the first half hour, even though we hardly had a shot due to poor final balls and very good defending. Cov looked very good on the break and we really needed to score ASAP as being camped out in their half made us vulnerable to that. We got worse as the match went on but it was exciting as both teams loolked likely to score. Yes, a disappointing result and another demonstration of our inability to beat teams that park the bus, but if we're going to lose to anyone Cov would be one of my preferences. A decent team and manger and great fans badly let down by the suits.
I had previously posted all this before, along with the original transfer fee wanted for Okoye. Kayembe would have been a free transfer if we had waited. He was out of favour with club and possibly going to be released. Why we bought them is a mystery. Okoye is hopeless with the ball at his feet and flaps like a pigeon on crosses. Bayo couldn't head a queue and has no idea how to lead the line. Kayembe cannot dictate the tempo and cannot see the early ball. lt is rumoured that our agent is under investigation by UEFA/FIFA and the Belgian Police.
One of those days, reminded me of Cardiff at home in our first promotion season that we also lost 1 nill. You could see what the team was trying to do under the new gaffer but it wasn't happening. Next game was Fulham away and it started happening then. 2 more games to go in part 1 of the season.
I found that we played with the wrong sort of arrogance against Coventry and we're guilty of overplaying the ball frequently. It didn't help that we didn't transition the ball quick enough and Davis looking half fit. Pedro was involved a lot but did very little and I find Sarr and Sema limited on the opposing flanks. Coventry came with a plan and executed it perfectly. All in it was a very frustrating game.
Yes he has been absolutely gash recently. He cost us a point yesterday and picked up a stupid booking and a suspension to boot. He seems to get an easy pass from a lot of people because he likes the odd tweet but the truth is he isn't very good. If Cathcart had made the error he did yesterday then this forum would have gone into meltdown.
Another game and result to be put away in the drawer marked 'The great thing about the Championship is that each team is capable of beating anyone'
Yeah, perhaps as a horses for courses thing, Sarr on the right would have been better here, even though he's generally been good on the left
Just one of those days ....Sarrs miss , most things went wrong that could go wrong , and if I am not mistaken , which I probably am , the goal came from a misplaced pass from Ekong ? Agree with everyone else that their 17 was a handful .
