Sorry but that's a ridiculous comparison. Vydra has international pedigree with a fair few goals for the senior Czech Republic team and despite having such a disappointing season at Reading, wasn't that far from being picked for Euro 2016 (which in hindsight looks a mistake, given how much they struggled that tournament). He even scored at Sweden in a friendly just four months ago.

Even during Sordell's best spell he only scored less than one goal every three league appearances for us, and didn't progress beyond the U21's. Not sure why opinions are so split over this, and needless to say I'm definitely in the camp that thinks he can still be a great player for us.

I know that Vydra was better at his peak than Sordell was, but I'm using the comparison as a striker who looked hot at the start of their career only to fizzle out in to Championship obscurity.

Its very much about formation. He would be rubbish as a loan striker but great upfront alongside a striker like Deeney as he has been in 2 seasons for us before. I think you are right in that Walter seems to have no plans to play him and will let him go. If so i just hope he gets a new striker in in his place rather than relying on Sinclair or Success to play down the middle and score regularly as they have no track record of doing this.

Fulham have agreed fee for McCormick to Villa. Expect Slav to put in a bid for Vydra.

Not a bad shout that, IF we did sell him I think it would be good to try and include a buy back clause as Barca and Real seem to use smartly when they sell a prospect just in case. I understand it's not as simplistic as that but you know.

Didnt we have a first chance buy back for Assambalonga when he went to PBoro? If Vydra leaves we will never want him back IMHO. If he is a roaring success at another club he would be too expensive and we would be delighted to take a sell on %

I thought that if Zole came in at Hull they might have some interest in him, given their tiny squad! Although not sure if we'd want to sell/loan to a potential relegation rival...

I wish we'd put in a bid for Slav - though I might change my mind if Mazza turns out to be a football genius.

I don't think you understand what a buyback clause is. It's not "first refusal" as it was for Assombalonga, a proper buyback clause is a clause that says "we can buy back this player for x amount at any time". Real Madrid have just done it to buy Morata back for £25m (when his value is now much higher). I have no idea why English clubs don't do it, Chelsea would've saved a fortune on Lukaku instead of now bidding on him at twice the price they sold him for.

I've often wondered why it only seems to be Barca/Madrid that really use this effectively. I thought maybe it's because they both produce a lot of talented youngsters through their systems that selling them to get high level first team football and if they hit the standard getting them back at the pre-arranged price if the most effective way for them to develop without their progress being stunted in the reserves of the side. As with Morata and I believe Denis Suarez at Barca this summer.
If United had with Pogba, Chelsea with Lukaku they'd be laughing especially when it is very likely the player would develop very well. It would probably mean selling them slightly cheaper in the first instance to include the clause but seems sensible in certain deals for sure.

It's probably a simplistic way of looking at it from the outside with no idea how these deals work though I'm sure.

Nope. Best we've had since GT. Mazza is a totally unknown quantity in English football, and could be anything from brilliant to a total flop.

Ok it's a fair cop. But he would never got to Shefford. They are a minor league Sth beds team who don't have the financial clout to land Vydra. However he would score a hatful of goals, (as he would do for us in the prem if given the chance)!!

Need to buy another goal scorer if we sell vydra. What can we get for £8m?

We got 4 strikers. Unless you feel they're not up to it I'm not sure we need another one.

We will be playing 2 and the others are primarily wide men (look at their scoring records). We don't want to be where we were last year with no cover for our out and out goal scorers. If we must sell vydra we need another goalscorer.

Success is very much a striker who can also play wide. I'm pretty sure that true of Sinclair too. I've not seen much of Sinclair TBH (he's quick I know that much!) but having watched most of Granada's games last season I can promise you Success is the dog's nuts. If Matty goes I doubt we'll be in for another striker & I don't think we need one. Just my opinion.

I am sure we could find someone like Adebayor on a season long deal or that young lad at Notth Forest who is just back from injury. The correct point is though would they be any more effective than Vydra as a third striker? Stick him on against Lorient with Deeney from the start and bring on Iggy for the last 20 minutes. Lets see if he is interested or not. If he is not busting a gut to impress take the £8 million

Im sure Sucess will be great but at only 20 with only 7 goals in 49 games for Granada I wouldn't want to rely on him for goals in his first season if we had a long term injury to one of the front two.

Yes I'd be happy with that but still think we'd need another out and out striker if we sold him ready to go. i still think he's a great striking back up option and would keep him unless we can replace with better.

Adebayor stunk the place out a Palarse, apart from scoring against us of course. I wouldn't think he's worth a precious non-HG slot

I also watched a lot of Granada last season and although I think that Success is an excellent prospect and will be suited to the English game, his decision making and finishing was easily the weakest part of his game. I'm sure he'll make a useful contribution to the team but I would be very worried if we had to rely on him as one of our main sources of goals. Still, you never know, he might just click like Ighalo and score a hatful...

Can't wait til we sell Vydra because we are looking for 'a higher quality of players these days' only to either fail to replace him after being snubbed by players who consider themselves too good for us or to replace him with an inferior player.

Yeah , hes a bit like Anya, in that he is superb in getting into great positions and always looks threatening but lacks a bit of end product. I saw him miss quite a few one on ones that someone like Vydra would put away in their sleep.
