Twitter mob starting to turn a little bit. Should just take a Sarr/Dennis sale next week and no other activity to make them realise Pozzo’s sole summer priority was furnishing the Bayat brothers on a backwater league striker. Ngakia starts at RWB in a 1-3 loss to the blades. Sad times.
TBH seen more criticism in recent weeks as the lack of signings continue. And less positive stuff about our chances.
All it needed this summer was a few young EFL talents, they're there for very reasonable fees if you're a clever club. Throw in a couple of PL loans and Edwards would have had the young, energetic squad he wanted. Instead the only incomings are a dodgy Bayat deal and some random Albanian guy. If I was Edwards I'd be feeling very let down by the club, I have no doubt we fed him a load of bullsh!t when he joined. I am interested to know how these signings were made. I'm sure Edwards watched clips of them and decided they could do a job, but I reckon it was along the lines of these players are signing rather than would you like these players.
Absolutely. Nothing has changed in the model despite assurances changes would be made and lessons learnt. We should be looking to snap up talent from the pyramid as it is there. That's if we had a competent owner who did not interfere and a scouting department that follows the Brighton, Brentford models for instance. We've still not sourced any PL loans either when we have several clubs on our doorstep. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. The whole recruitment model is a stinking mess. We fritter away money on needless long term contracts, a particular agent, managerial and backroom changes and other trivialities. Do we need Hamer for instance ? Let Angelini take the role. If we were run properly and efficiently we'd probably still be in the PL with a sustainable long term model and a squad of youth mixed with experience and plenty of ability not to mention hunger. Complete shambles thanks to Gino.
Angelini is not homegrown because he is Scottish. Maybe Myles Roberts could take the role but let’s not use a non-homegrown spot on our number 3 keeper please.
Tbh would the club want to rely on a kid to be 3rd choice after the Jack Bonham experience? When they talk about giving youth a chance they probably just mean outfield players - on the bench .
Yes just off to see the blue goldfish. Conjecture is fine. Conjecture portrayed as fact is a bit tedious
Nobody, unless willing to throw money at us, would keep us in the EPL. We might be in better shape in other areas but we are a Championship club who occasionally go in to the big league
Hahahaha. Good one. I have never claimed to be ITK as you seem to be suggesting. Very happy to go with 'your word against mine' in terms of Sarr and Dennis popularity at the club. It's really not that deep. You can have the title of ITK King - it's not really something I'm interested in debating! I'll let the people I trust that I have DM'ed over certain matters that have then subsequently happened at the club decide whether I'm 'bluffing'.
Possibly missed due to the Kiko/Gasper announcement but Nicolò Schira is tweeting the news Samir is wanted by Serie A clubs Verona & Monza. https://twitter.com/NicoSchira/status/1550793260720963584?s=20&t=mYvNjv7DJwDckXOgA2mLIg
Not good news at all unless we bring in a decent left footed centre half. Speaking of which, has Matt Clarke gone on his yearly championship loan yet?
That guy is a fraud of the highest level on Twitter. He’s like that Moroney guy - but has somehow managed to get a huge number of followers.
Not sure he's anywhere near as bad as that!! Handy for a one stop recap of rumours though. Samir was linked with Monza 2 weeks ago by Gazzetta Dello Sport so who knows, may be something in it, may not.
Losing our only left footed centre back this close to the season would be a kick in the teeth. Especially one that has the potential to be very good in this league if his heart is in it.
Mentioned in the pre season thread already but saw comments a couple of days ago stating that the club had agreed to sell Samir and it was done behind the back of Edwards who was ‘fuming’ as a result I dismissed it as nonsense at the time but not sure so now
Difficult to see what the point in the Pozzo's is with the famed scouting/recruitment model being so redundant.
Surely Edwards would have been at least somewhat aware that Samir leaving was a possibility, I don't think that should come as a surprise, although I could understand his frustration if he did get reassurances that we'd try to bring in another left-footed CB
Samir leaving, whatever, I can accept that, as good a player he may be at this level, he's hardly irreplaceable, and if he wants to go, he can go, but what I really don't understand is why we didn't think of getting a like for like replacement in, it's annoying seeing someone like Jake Clarke-Salter go to QPR. I get that funds are tight, but we somehow found £5m for Bayo, and even putting a dodgy-looking Bayat deal aside, we found the money to pay for Manaj's wages
Samir has been crap whenever I saw him last season. Another one who should be very replaceable if we had a half-decent recruitment team.
Our best XI for a 343 (if Kiko, Samir go; Gaspar joins) would seem to be: Bachmann; Kabasele, Sierralta, Cathcart; Gaspar, Kayembe, Louza, Kamara; Sarr, Dennis, JP. That’s only 2 HG players. We would be obligated to have 5 on the bench. Will Okoye even be a sub? Will Bayo and Manaj? It’s baffling that we haven’t signed more HG players. I suspect we were planning on Dennis and Sarr being gone by now and freeing up 2 spaces; now we’re panicking and trying to decide who might miss out. Always reactionary.
Plenty of captains don’t start. He may do in Louza’s place while he’s out - but when everyone is 100%, do you think he’s in the team? Even if he is, we need 4/7 subs to be HG by necessity. We have 10 HG players at the club (discounting Rose, Fletcher and the U21s). Only 3 will ever miss out on a matchday squad. Edwards doesn’t seem to rate Ngakia or Quina, so it leaves him very limited with who he can select
Prem teams will be sorting their squads out in the next week or two and seeing who they want to keep, loan out or sell. I expect us to snap a few HG players up. I think we are ok for strikers if Dennis stays so LCB, RWB and maybe another body for the midfield will be brought in.
Striker would suggest we’re planning for life without Dennis and Sarr. Which seems odds on, though less and less likely with each passing week.
