From Udineseblog Hypothesis for Watford Heurtaux 21/05/2015 Rejected the offer of Lyon to Thomas Heurtaux , according to the portal tuttomercatoweb.com , Udinese could hijack the defender to Watford . The Frenchman was involved in a season with more shadows than lights and the unexpected ' explosion ' of the young Molla Wague first , and then the line 4 , have decreased his chances of employment at Juventus . The player was one of those who had the market : it is not to be discarded, then , a possible departure. Dont know too much about him apart from being a Udinese regular for past few seasons.
This is where the whole Premier League shop window factor starts to come into play, at least where the owners are concerned. Not every player will be convinced by it but hopefully some will see the benefit.
Angella won't go back. Giaretta (Udinese technical director): From Watford you can get someone? "I would like first of all to know that Watford will try to stand on their own legs. Do not take players from Udinese. Angella not return, he wants to play in the Premier".
Another Article linking him with a move to us http://forzaitalianfootball.com/2015/05/udinese-defender-set-for-watford-move/ Haven't seen too much of him play but the reports sound very good.
Let hope so - but i can't see it - they need players too and Serie A status won't be retained with a B team or kids - the exchange will have to be 2 way i suspect. Unless of course they have a crop of talent we don't know about yet that they intend to sign in the next 2 months!
Heurtaux would be a truly brilliant signing. He's a top 10 Premier League side defender from what I've seen, maybe better.
You didn't see the defending for Roma's goal then :naughty: Both him and Widmer making costly errors..... That aside he looks a quality defender. Not the tallest.
Udi are an established top flight club. It might be easier to acquire talent for them than for us for a while.
Seems just a rumour so far. Could be possible anyway. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/thomas-heurtaux/profil/spieler/109598 Herteaux is a good serie A defender but he has an annoying tendency to "lapses" that made his season not entirely satisfying. After his first two good seasons we hoped he would continue his improvements but he seemed to go backwards this year. Yet, he's at his third season at Udinese now and is 26YO. It would be the typical "end of Udinese cycle, time for another team". His not-so-exceptional season makes harder to receive an acceptable offer. It is possible that the motivation of playing in an excellent shop window could lead him to stay one more year, hopefully staying fully concentrated this time with the hope of a better transfer fee for Pozzo and a better contract for him in summer 2016. At Udinese his substitute is ready. Molla Wague, 24YO, arrived in summer 2014, he too from Caen. Formally he's a Granada's player on loan to Udinese. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/molla-wague/profil/spieler/129893 He has played already a good number of matches showing good quality in defence and some goalscoring capabilities too, and is just at the beginning of his period with Udinese. Keeping Herteaux would block Wague's development so, again, the rumour might be something serious. Finally, back to Herteaux: he's not as strong as Benatia was for us (we can't be always be "so" lucky with scouting), but is certainly a good player for top tier.
Suppose if a player wants to leave but the Pozzos don't think they've reached peak value, the Premier League is now a big attraction that they can offer first before perhaps having to sell for cheaper than they'd have liked. Hadn't really thought of that scenario.
Sherlock, how would you rate him compared to Angella? The Angella of now that is, rather than 2 years ago when of course Hertaux was above him in the pecking order at Udinese.
I've heard he's agreed to sign but on the condition that the refurbishment of Charter Place goes ahead as planned
Looks like this is going to happen http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2015...-agrees-a-move-to-watford/&utm_source=Twitter
So it looks like we are going to get our man. A few more players of his calibre combined with what we already have, should give us a good chance to stay up in the Prem, and perhaps suprise a few people. Who would have thought we would be attracting players of this quality only a couple of years ago.
Maybe but that's not what the translation says. It talks about the "second team of Pozzo" (Watford) enriching the coffers of the sister club (Udinese) by paying 10 million. It took me a couple of reads to pick up on it.
We add Heurtaux and Mariappa to Angella, Cathcart, Hoban and Ekstrand when he's back and we are looking very well covered and strong at centre back.
Not sure if Ekstrand will play on crutches. I don't think mariappa is any good at CB. When pulis took over palace, he put him at full back.
Yes I did and thought he wasn't strong enough. He got voted player of the season when we were in the prem last, at full back.
Player of the season? No he didn't. The guy was amazing for us at centre back which is why a Premier League club (albeit Reading) came knocking.
Signing someone of this quality is a signal that we mean business to other good players pondering whether to join us or not.
my mistake, it was foster. Still doesn't change my opinion that he is not commanding/strong enough at centre back. He was dropped by reading at CB in the prem. His only descent seasons in the prem have been at full back.
