TBF Moose a lot of young men died then for reasons that were avoidable at the time. And a lot of young men have died needlessly in conflicts now , then and before then . It is a shameful waste .

Absolutely and it was a sacrifice in her family that profoundly affected my mother.

But that wouldn’t be a reason for me, happily untouched by war, to claim I know what those individuals would think about current issues. They would all have had different views on Covid or Brexit or whatever the issue is.

I don’t think it respects their memory to try to bring them into modern arguments, with the exception of one, the rejection of fascism.

That was literally the Moogs in devon last week.

Went to Ilfracombe during a torrential downpour and had to salute the intrepid kid, on the small beach by the harbour, digging a sandcastle moat in a kagool. That's the spirit that won us an empire.

I had this on a local group, when some boomers started bemoaning the end of free tv licences for oldiewonks. Their go to argument was that these people were the ones who fought for our freedom. A quick google search showed that there were barely a handful alive still. I got sworn at and blocked then.

Thanks for the offer. Too late for that now. Not sure what happened in the end, but the package was delivered without me having to pay the additional €25. Probably a mishap on the part of the Irish Postal system. I had sent an email of concern to the Hornet shop suggesting that they need to notify non UK customers of this issue, prior to the customer paying for it. In truth, I would have most likely bought it for my son in any event. He is building up a collection of shirts (modern kids are spoilt). The Hornets shop responded by letting me know that the warning is in the small print. On a more serious note, this type of thing has got to have a drastic impact on UK trade with the near neighbours in Ireland and Europe.

Bonfires. What kind of ****head are you that you have a bonfire in this day and age? Neighbour is burning gawd knows what. Back of our house stinks.

There’s no need. If it’s green waste compost it or have it collected. If it’s not, then you shouldn’t be burning it anyway. There’s enough CO2 and harmful particulates in the atmosphere already.

The Knight GT’s we’re in Devon last week as well. We were just south of Bude and we’re very lucky with the weather including a day out in Ilfracombe on a lovely day. Luck of the draw suspect

We had one hot day on Saunton Sands which was beautiful, a couple of mixed days on Woolacombe andCroyde Beaches and the rest of the time was pretty miserable.

Certainly not worth the 15 hours combined driving time to get there and back and all the **** sleep on the collapsing air mattresses in our tent.

Nope, brought up in Kernow, parents having moved there when I was 6 months old. I support Zummerzet as the geographically nearest first class county (and they had Botham, Richards and Garner when I first got interested in cricket).

Flies. Ok not much of a bother in the urban environs where I live, but one or two still pop up now and then. You have your classic large buzzy ones that annoy the cat and then typical smaller house flies. And then, especially in rural parts on holiday, you get the really annoying ones, housefly sized, but really energetic, on your arm, you flick it away, it's back two seconds later.

Ok 10/10 for dealing with the poo, but don't be so annoying about it.

I have to have 2 bonfires a year due to the amount of hedge clippings. But on the edge of a village, it's easy to pick a night the wind is blowing away from the village and pick a cool night when windows would be shut anyway. Our green bins are full to the brim every collection.

So now the slow-moving bar at the bottom has disappeared, but only to be replaced by ads between posts on a thread with is annoying enough, but even worse, there are ads that pretend to be posts! Pictures roughly the size of profile pics on the left and blurb the same font and size as member posts, so you end up being tricked into half reading the ******* things before you realise. Is there nothing these ad agencies won't do to force you to focus on the **** they are trying to sell?

Well - with apologies to (Rage Against The Machine):

    '**** you I won't buy what you're selling me, **** you I won't buy what you're selling me! ****s.

    Google Play Store.
Had a spare hour today stuck at the hospital with Mrs D so wanted to download a puzzle/crossword type game to keep my mind active. Searched for such a game and there appears to be no way to order them in review order. How bl**dy backwards is that?
Ended up playing poker and losing!

The glib phrase 'our hearts go out to.....' trotted out by politicians to victims of the latest tragedy in lieu of actually doing anything that might genuinely be helpful. e.g, "Our hearts go out to those Afghans who - thanks to our bungling, dithering and delay when we should have been getting them out of Afghanistan months ago - are going to be chopped up or stoned to death by the Taliban for helping us out over the past 20 years"

Could you not have a messy bit of the garden, pile the stuff up and let it rot?

I have a bit where I throw stuff too big to get in the green waste. I arrange it with entry points so hedgehogs can get underneath it. All sorts of bugs and frogs in it.

It’s the cat’s preferred place to hang. He sits and looks at it for hours.

I do have a messy area of the garden and in fact the bottom half is basically dedicated to wildlife. However when our hedge is cut the resulting pile of cuttings is approx 6ft x 6ft and the decaying pile would be too large to just add new cuttings every time. I'd love to have HH's in the garden esp with our huge hedges but we get frequent visits by badgers who would very quickly eat them all up ! ps HH = Hedgehog, not @HappyHornet24 who would of course be most welcome.

Similar to Tut, we have too many hedges and trees to cut back every year which leaves a ridiculous amount of stuff down the end of the garden. I did start to pile it up and let it rot/become a wildlife haven etc. but the size kept growing to crazy levels and had to be dealt with. I have an incinerator bin thing so do have bonfires to clear the excess but only from late October onwards and only after dark. I also let the stuff dry out for as long as possible so it burns a bit cleaner. The original pile of stuff, (which is almost as tall as me), is staying for the wildlife, and I'll get as much in the brown bin and down the recycling place as possible, but unfortunately burning a lot of it is the only solution.

However, after saying that, people who have bonfires when there is even a slight chance of peoples windows being open or washing hanging out need to be shot, twice.

Agreed. I have 2 fires a year and carefully select days when the wind blows from NW away from the direction of the village and the weather is poor so windows aren't open. In fact I had a fire last night. Also agree that drying out the waste for a few weeks before burning (which I have to do anyway to find a sensible night) minimises any smoke and speeds up the burning process to c20 mins.

I was out for a walk last night and someone was having a v smoky bonfire in their back garden which was part of a relatively new-build terrace.

The back garden, which because of an odd layout faces the road, was about 25 ft long, narrow and contained no trees or hedging.

Just burning rubbish. For no reason whatsoever. Mrs Moose advocated the @Diamond solution.

    I hate the Bosman ruling.

I used to think it was a good idea but I'm now with Ian Holloway on this one. There should be compensation for all ages unless there is a mutual termination of contract. The Hughes/Chalobah situation is ridiculous and players (or more to the point, agents) use it as a ransom tactic. Even having two years left on your contract is seen as an opportunity to screw over your employer that has paid you extortionate amounts to be a professional footballer.

Not suggesting that it should return to pre-Bosman days but there should at least be a tribunal for a fair fee for over 23s. The likes of Pogba and Mbappe going for nothing at the end of this season is madness considering the investment.

I don't hate the rule itself. It's fair. The problem is the football system is broken with the money disparity making it impossible for the average club to hang on to decent players. Not sure how it can be fixed other than imposing a salary & transfer cap, but that has to be imposed worldwide to not give other countries an advantage so will never happen.

    Algorithms.

I went to Dorset a couple of weeks ago for a for a short break. Not too long after I got back I started googling for a new 3pc suite for the living room.

Result? Ads popping up everywhere encouraging me to go and visit DFS in Poole.
