With the exception of the loan loophole, there’s been a quite a few that question our owners behaviour. We wind up being called names for our trouble.

Guess it depends what league we're in and who owns the club at that point. I think Gino is probably just waiting for the right offer these days.

I see that vile worm Michael Owen tweeted how delighted he is with Newcastle’s new owners, an organisation that commits crimes against humanity, yet only a couple of days ago slaughters Watford for sacking Munoz.

I don't disagree with you. But this is not new: Real Madrid were specifically built by a murderous dictator to dominate European football; and that was in the 1950's.

Well, we don't ever have to think about it because no billionaire in their right mind would buy us! Also, for all the genuine criticisms of the Pozzos, we're a small club currently punching above our weight, whereas Newcastle, while not in as much **** as the likes of Sunderland, Nottingham Forest or Sheffield Wednesday, have been stagnant for over a decade

Sven was appointed over a year before Abu Dhabi United Group purchased City, it was then curious that Mark Hughes was retained after the takeover and given another season despite doing worse in the league with a lot more money available - and then sacked when they started to look like a force.

Have they though? They’ve got a big fan base, but it’s concentrated in a tiny area of the world. They haven’t got a fraction of the appeal Utd, Liverpool and even Arsenal have elsewhere. Without what has happened today, they’re no better than a West Ham or an Everton. They might reasonably expect to trouble the European spots every now and then, as well as the odd mid to lower table finish if they have a bad season. They’ve not been that far off their natural level at all.

From memory, didn’t the fans want to keep Sven? I have a vague recollection of Noel Gallagher wading in as well, I think there were rumours of Phil Scollari coming in. Pretty sure Sven chucked his last game 5 or 6 nill as a **** you, Walt style

And it's a long-term thing: Didn't Jack Charlton walk out as manager of N. Utd because he didn't like the abuse he was getting from his own fans? About 1985/6.

According to Wikipedia, Lineker became MOTD presenter in 1999. I’m surprised it was as late as that, as when I first saw him on that programme in the 1999/00 season, he seemed quite assured and gave the impression he’d been running the show for years (wasn’t he also one of the pundits at the 98 World Cup?). Had he been on the show before as a regular pundit?

And that's why my sympathy for Toon fans is limited lol, I'd be tearing my hair out if we had an owner who had the money but had no interest in anything above 17th (not to mention the furlough debacle and other things!), but their fans haven't come out of this well at all. I think when Lazaar and Janmaat came here they mentioned they were grateful to be at a club that gets behind their players unlike what they experienced at Newcastle

I understand that women will only be able to go to games at St James' Park if they are accompanied by either their husband or father. Both will be required to show their birth/wedding certificates at the turnstiles. The women will then be channelled into a special, segregated women only section of the ground which will be shrouded so that men will not be able to look at them during the game.
The FA has approved this measure. In a statement they have said that this will make match attendance safer for women and men will no longer have to waste time explaining the off-side rule during a game.
Women supporters of opposing teams will be deemed prostitutes and can be used by Newcastle supporters as they wish. The FA have said that to avoid this they will be giving discounts for women to watch womens' football.

Think we're splitting hairs here, but yeah, one European finish under the Ashleys, and 2 relegations, a poorer record than pretty much any 'big' club just below the elite in that time frame. The worst that's happened to them is bouncing back twice from relegation as Championship champions though, so they haven't fallen as hard as the ones I mentioned before (though as a person who first became aware of football in the early to mid 00s, I naturally considered Newcastle to be bigger than the likes of Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest anyway)

Well, at least in my time watching football they've been European regulars, and going a little further back of course almost won the title, what on earth do they have to show for themselves now?

Berkshire I believe, so not quite that close! Don't think for a second he'd take us over as Newcastle are generally a much safer bet for guaranteed Prem football than us

Interesting about the NU takeover. My friend was talking to me yesterday about "why doesn't Elton John clear our debts and help us with our finances?" I said he is not a Arab Oil Tycoon and needs to probably have triple what he has now to even consider it. According to sources his net worth is 500USD - so no. I also think, coming from a personal fan point of view, Elton alongside GT have done so much more for Watford than just chucking money and players at the club over the years. They injected the family feel, made people want to come to games. Hearing the story from GT about how he used to peer over a wall where the
Rookery End is now to watch the games. You'll never feel that connection with Citee etc. Football is more about money to them than the fans'. Watford I see as the opposite to that.

Clearly hoping the Newcastle fans like him again..

Or trying to make for criticising them that time when he was carried off at our place and it was actually us fans chanting "waste of money" or something like that.

I remember that, was quite funny. His career went to total shambles after that. If I remember he played for Stoke City for a bit, but looked like an overweight plumber. You could tell he was finished as a top level footballer by that point. Then he brought out a book totally name shaming Shearer and Newcastle saying the club was beneath him. Complete backstabbing moron.

Didn’t know that, if I was a City fan I’d have my doubts about keeping him even without the much higher expectations they were to have soon afterwards as they were disappointing after a bright start and Sven’s last few years with England wouldn’t have inspired me with much confidence (it was a similar story with Leicester before Pearson came back and got them going again). But maybe they had a fair few injuries, bad luck, loss of confidence in some key players or any of the above that contributed to their drop in form, I don’t know.

Newcastle are a pointless, inherently dislikeable club with shy te, entitled fans who do nothing but hound whoever is in charge on and/or off the pitch. For all their noise the fact is they never win anything, nobody outside of Newcastle gives a t oss about anything they do, and nobody ever will, even if they win the CL.

Global appeal 0. Domestic appeal 0. New ownership appeal 0.

They are basically us, with a larger, noisier, more unrealistic fanbase.

Not one ounce of shame or one thought about the ethics of the takeover. Fit and proper owners indeed. It's sad to see what has become of football in this country. The plaything of billionaires seeking to use it as a marketing tool to try and promote their rather shady states.

You even have some of these chumps who obviously have not got a collective brain cell between themselves and maybe related to some of the amoebas from Geordie Shore holding up a Saudi Arabian flag as if pledging allegiance to their new overlords.
