True, but is any unnecessary risk worth it? Some idiots go to football, I'm told.

This one's of a bit of a throwback actually, but thrown into wonderful illumination by the magic of hindsight.

I'm sure but there must be sprinklers systems everywhere so the actions of a few idiots would probably amount to little. I guess copious use of flares would be out though :)

If Xisco hadn't taken us up he'd have been out the door in seconds, I know Bournemouth have been a lot more patient with managers in their recent history, but still, does the bloke who almost took Boro down really deserve another crack at a team who I'm sure will still have half an eye on promotion next season?

Bournemouth made a mistake going for the continuity candidate in Tisdale. Perhaps if they had gone for someone completely new to the club, they may have galvanised a better outcome from the squad. All academic now, but it’s going to be critical appointment for them. Stoke are an e ample of a club that failed to go straight back up, and struggled to get that managerial appointment correct.

I'm not surprised by this. When given the job he was probably told to get them up, and failure was not an option. Also wouldn't surprise me if the owner already has someone else lined up.

Despite their own travails, they probably weren't looking to us as a model to follow post-relegation in December-January time!

Very interesting article in the European Business Review about the Pozzo family.
    Out of date, but interesting.

Must be paying him a pretty penny to tempt him back from Qatar where he must've been earning a fortune.

Makes sense, great appointment for them I think, Brewster has had a very poor season in the PL but I'd back Joka to get the best out of him which will be key in bouncing back.

If they don't get anything out of Brewster in the Championship he could turn out to be one of the most expensive dud signings ever. And in a sport full of dud signings that takes some doing.

I know many of us said the same about Trondre based on the more distant past, but Jesus, there looks to be some serious Championship firepower in that team, McBurnie scored 20+ just two seasons ago, Brewster had a very productive loan spell at Swansea, and McGoldrick, while not the best finisher, is a fantastic player, ageing, but coming off a good season in the Prem with a decent scoring record in the Championship. I suppose there is the question mark about their mentality after losing almost every game in the Prem, but they did end the season well and ended up with more points than Norwich, who just won the league fairly comfortably

Sheffield United got hit by the biggest case of second-season syndrome since Reading (and Ipswich before them).

Players believe their own hype, start demanding new contracts and get above their station. John Lundstram taking the lead from Steve Sidwell in thinking he's some sort of PL star.

Under Jokanovic I'm sure they'll be fine though. Wouldn't be a surprise if two relegated teams won autos again. Didn't look to be a side apart from Brentford that could challenge and they're likely coming up with us. Muff will obviously be relegated to oblivion.

It's easy to say they got all Billy big ********, but Henderson was a huge loss, Ramsdale picked up his form eventually but is nowhere near as good as Henderson was for them, and Jack O'Connell was central to everything they did overlapping from that LCB position, without him they just couldn't do it, especially now that they're not such a surprise package (it could be argued they got 'worked out' after lockdown as they didn't end last season well)

Their recruitment really was ******* awful as well - Rhian Brewster (£23m), McBurnie (£20m), Mousset (£10m), Oliver Burke (£5m) as their forward options. That is nearly £60m spent on four ordinary championship strikers.

You actually look at their squad, and I am not sure I would say any of their players are really any better than good championship level.

Yeah, basically their entire prospects relied entirely on the system working exactly as it was supposed to. As soon as it didn't, they completely fell apart, with no particular measure of individual skill fromany of their players to fall back on and make something happen.

It's the exact opposite approach to the one we have taken for the past six years :).
