AZ start training at their AFAS stadium in a few minutes. We may have something else to prompt some excitement if reports emerge that Berghuis isn't there.

I think he's referring to the gobshyte @lowerrous on Twitter who kept on banging on about Joey Barton.

Incidentally I was lowerrous on BWL many years ago (as well as a couple of others!)

  27. sounds like its very close to happening - quotes from the player himself

    http://www.azfanpage.nl/elftal-technisch/berghuis-gaat-wel-de-kant-op-van-een-akkoord/

Steven Berghuis expects AZ Watford and soon to come to an agreement. "The club are negotiating. It goes to some little things I believe. But I think the clubs have to come out, "said the seasoning opposite AZFanpage. Berghuis itself has been in England and has already spoken with the leadership of the English club there.

"I have spoken with the club and I have already been going to see the training ground and talk to the trainer. I must say that I liked it. "How great is the risk of a transfer Berghuis was difficult to estimate. "Between the clubs it certainly goes around come. Personally, I have some things to weigh. It's still a big step I take in this stage of my career. I feel like I'm still in development and that I too can grow. I'll have to physically on the tank. Stronger is also something that needs to happen to make another step. These are the considerations that I have to make and I will soon make the choice. "

    No kick and rush
Berghuis gave recently to VI that he not left outside wanted to play and he wanted to know what the possibilities are. Across AZFanpage he explains: "The club certainly has potential, though. But it was not so much. Me it was more about the way of playing. I'd rather play from the fit and wants to play a kick and rush football. But they've got a Spanish coach and who goes out of football, so it looks good. But I'm not quite yet. All goes well on the side of a transfer. In percentage

Already been to the training ground and talked to the trainer? Must have been over last week then, unless he means he spoke to Gino/Luke.

The guy sounds like he's got his head screwed on though which is good, his comments suggest there's still a chance he could say no but fingers crossed this is sorted soon.

Just a Dutch variant of the German 'Berghaus' ... Berg (as in iceberg) = Mountain. Haus (yes you guessed it) = House

Dutch is mostly German with a very bad accent plus a few English and French bastardisations thrown in .... I usually understand some of it.

    UPDATE:

ALKMAAR Steven Berghuis all week has been linked to the English Watford. The Telegraph reports that Transfer has been around. Berghuis himself appeared Friday afternoon just in the selection picture for next season. Stewart and Van den Brom about what is really going on at this time.

According to Director of Football Affairs Earnie Stewart, there is no deal between AZ and Watford. AZ is still negotiating with the English candidate. "We are in conversation. I find it difficult to indicate when there is an agreement. It looks to be now that the deal will take place."

Even coach John van den Brom is going to actually assume that it will soon no longer have Berghuis. "I understand that there is almost a chord and then it can go fast. But on the other hand, he's just going from A to Z and then today just in the picture."

    Translated:

AZ forward Steven Berghuis says he's "80% sure" of joining Watford after meeting Quique Sanchez Flores at the training ground.

A deal appears to be very close after AZ allowed the £3.5million-rated player to travel to England a few days ago before the Watford squad left for Germany, although Berghuis isn't sure if he's physically ready for the Premier League.

"I have spoken to the club and I have already been to see the training ground and talk to the trainer - I must say that I liked it,"he told AZFanpage.

"Personally, I have some things to weigh. It's still a big step to take at this stage of my career. I feel like I'm still in development and that I can still grow. I'll still need to physically develop. I need to add strength to make another step. These are the considerations that I have to make and I will soon make the choice."

The Dutchman was impressed with Flores' plans for Watford and rates his chances of joining the Hornets at 80% after admitting that he was initially not that attracted to the club."

The club certainly has potential," he added. "But it was not so much about that. For me, it was more about the way of playing. I'd rather play the passing style and not a kick and rush football. But they've got a Spanish coach who plays good football, so it looks good.
    "
But I'm not quite decided yet. All goes well in the transfer negotiations. In percentage terms, the probability that a transfer goes through is nearer 80-20 than 50-50."

Interesting that he mentions 'kick and rush' as the style of football he was expecting.

Whether he means Watford play it or any team outside of the top 4 play it, it opens your eyes as to why other players from abroad don't really fancy a move to us.

Otherwise referred to as "the English game" by most of Europe .... He really is not being Watford specific.
