https://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/eur...aka-pua-partire-dopo-l-arrivo-di-gray-1008840 Looks as if he will be leaving. Silva prefers Gray and Okaka wants to try and make his way into the Italy squad for WC next year. Could move to another club in England or go back to Italy. Would be a shame as I like Okaka and what he offers to the team. Effectively third choice now after last night however.
Loan him to an EPL club instead if selling him. I think he's on the verge of cracking it and is easily capable of scoring 10+ goals in a season. Which would put a 25+mill price tag on his head
We are an EPL team and our 25 man squad must have at least 4 proper strikers. If Okaka goes who joins Deeney and Gray? Unless Silva includes Richarlison and/ or Success in that number we will struggle. I know they were Champions not long ago but look at the quality in Lester's frontline. It's the coach's job to keep them happy but they can't all play the same time. P.S. I left Sinclair out as pretty sure he will go out on loan.
A player who scores goals in the EPL is worth far more than a player who scores goals in any other league. He won't be able to play against us so doesn't affect our chances . Personally I'd rather keep him and sell Deeney but my point was that if they were to get rid of him I'd suggest loaning to increase his resale value as I think he is in the verge of becoming a half decent EPL striker .
If he scores 10 goals for one of our direct rivals it definitely affects us for the worse whether they're against us or not. I get what you're getting at but feel the cons massively outweigh the pros.
Not if he scores against our other rivals ! If we were to sell Deeney or indeed any of our players they would always be to one of our rivals because at the moment none of our players are good enough to play for top 7 club. Or are you suggesting we don't ever sell any of our players unless it's to a top 7 club or to another league/division ?
I'd view a sale differently to a loan. But yeah your final sentence there is probably the default position for the club already.
Would be disappointed with this but would not be surprised to see it happen. If it does we need to bring in another striker Sent from my G3311 using Tapatalk
So we won't be selling Deeney or Capoue unless a top 7 club comes in for them ? I'd be very surprised if the club or any club for that matter has that as their default position but anyway it's been great chatting with you , cheers .
Glimpses of talent but hardly prolific and seems to run around a lot for 20 minutes then runs out of puff, better off back in Serie A for both him and us
Hopefully it's agent talk to try and ensure that he gets enough game time here. Unless we're bringing another striker it would be stupid considering that he's better than Deeney and in better shape than Deeney. You say that, but he scored 0.4 goals per 90 minutes last season, which is pretty good going, and he already managed one in his only outing so far in this season. Deeney only scored 0.2 goals per 90 minutes from open play last year.
You can use stats to prove anything though. Mazzarri aside, here's another. Deeney started more games than Okaka last season. And I'd suggest the reason for that is because it is widely considered he is a better player.
That stat doesn't prove anything consequential, though. It could mean Deeney is better, or it could mean Mazzari was a clueless muppet. Number of appearances holds no intrinsic value because it's not a performance metric.
That's true, I agree. But metrics prove all manner of things. Brentford have been using the moneyball theory for the past few seasons in the Championship. Hasn't got them anywhere near the PL though has it. Anyway, I'm digressing a bit. Personally I'd rather Deeney stay than Okaka but I appreciate for others it is the opposite feeling. Whether either of them want to stay and play second fiddle to Gray is another matter which I suspect they would have to be. I'd rather Troy stayed but ironically the one deal I'd do out of all the ones that have been mooted by some (and not ruled out by either Shakespeare or Silva) is to somehow swap Deeney and Slimani.
I'd personally have Deeney over Okaka, Deeney overs so much more off the field and given a chance to get back to his best he can be pushing for that England call up. People seem to of forgot Okaka was accused of being disruptive influence in the dressing room not so long ago. Deeney and Grey would be my preferred options. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I doubt either Deeney or Okaka are Silva type of players or that he would want to sign either of them if they weren't Watford players
It's amazing how many people want to keep Okaka when this time last season they were writing him off before he even played. Short memories. I've been saying for over a year that Deeney's on the descend and we've seen the best of him. A shame, but I would definitely rather keep Okaka!!
But does he? Does he really?! What does he offer beyond helping to get our managers sacked (rightly or wrongly)?... It used to be that at least he was basically our only English player, but that's not the case any more. That "England call up" is never, ever going to happen. Thank god. Firstly, "People seem to of forgot" is a fantastic way to start a sentence. Secondly, Okaka has given his absolute all on the pitch the last few times he has played. He plays like he genuinely cares more so than anyone else in the squad bar perhaps Holebas and Gomes. Deeney has a much more selfish demeanour and is prone to throwing his toys out the pram when things aren't going well. Who is this "Grey" of whom you speak?...
I read somewhere that Okaka has told Watford he needs to be playing. If Silva cant promise him that then he's probably off. Personally I would rotate the strikers and keep the 3 of them happy. None of them are what I call profilic but they may suit certain games. For example against Liverpool, they couldn't handle Okaka all game. So maybe play him in some of the home games. In my opinion its a risk letting him go because we don't know yet if Gray is worth 18 odd million yet. And if he turns out rubbish with Okaka gone then we will battling relegation due to lack of goals to compliment a leaky defence. And by the way I am NOT one of the ones that had written Okaka off. I've said before on this forum that he never had a decent run in the side for me to form a proper opinion of him.
Why would Deeney never be in contention of an England call up, if he scores 20 + goals a season he's an option. I never said Okaka didn't give his all but it was rumoured he was a disruptive influence last season Deeney was the one I saw encouraging the youngsters not just from the bench but during the whole season. And as for grey guy spell check can be annoying
I've got an everton supporting mate who thinks okaka's the bees knees. Loves his physical presence and how hard he tried when we played them By contrast he thinks Deeney is fat and ****
