Funny thing to say. It was based on the fact that as a striker he has scored 47 career goals in a 10 year career, approx half of which had been scored in the second tier in Italy. But don't let that ruin your theory. Anyway he looked good in those 11 mins so hopefully we've signed an Ighalo rather than a Beleck.
So roughly the number of league goals Jamie Vardy had scored in his career, prior to this season. The difference being that Okaka was considered good enough to play in Serie B, while Vardy was still living off the fact that he was some geezer who was quite good in Conference North. You've also chosen to ignore the fact that your 47 goals don't include goals in cup and European competitions, such is the danger of quoting Wikipedia without reading the small print.
His career stats are unpressive as I stated which is why many were lukewarm at his signing. If you want to pretend that wasn't the case, then fine. The fact that Vardy's were worse doesn't mean every journeyman striker will turn into a megastar.
He does need to be a megastar, just a solid substitute who can regularly play a 15 min cameo that helps the team and rests the first choice strikers. He looks like he could have an impact against a tiring defence, and create the space for others upfront. All in all like a rebuilt upgraded Iwelumo.
I'm pretty sure that if we had signed Boufal on the same day, rather than loose out to Southampton, most of the people who slated his signing as dissapointing would have taken it far more positively. Don't care what people say or quote, the negative reaction to Okaka was fuelled by the dissapointment of not getting Boufal. Uncontrolled emotion, and that is an end to it. #callmefreud
Mine wasn't. I was just concerned about the opinion of a Belgian football journalist who presumably knows something about football and had actually seen him play. I've now seen him for 11 minutes, and so far so good.
Journalists are full of **** at the best of times So are Belgians, and their chocolate is foul, their country is boring, and they invented Brussel sprouts A Belgian journalist is the worst combination to listen to
Lard arse, Mr Greedy, and a medically diagnosed "too crap to play" player are our strike force. All my optimism is gone.
Well well. Watford fans in Pozzo doubt turnaround shocker. Godather always knows best, you should just listen.
Actually it says "Up To Six Weeks Out". You left out the 'up to' part. Maybe it's like the "Up to 70% Off" signs they put in shop windows. If so, we might see him on the bench on Sunday...
Okaka out for up to 6 weeks apparently. http://www.wdsport.co.uk/2016/09/watford-dealt-stefano-okaka-injury-blow/
I hear Osama is being exhumed in 6 weeks. Must be some doubt cast over whether he died from natural causes.
Apparently Iroha is having his bunions removed in 6 weeks time. My thoughts go out to his family at this difficult time .
Rumour that Okaka might be going back to Italy? My French isn't up to much http://www.dhnet.be/sports/football...le-depart-a-watford-57fa5d89cd70ef0a914bde75?
It sounds basically, utter tosh. His stay at Watford is a 'nightmare' cos he's only had 12 minutes game time and.....he's injured. The direct link between the two seems to be ignored. The main gist of the 'story' is that Palermo have been bought by Chinese, who have €200m to invest, of which €20m will be on a 'big surprise' who 'may be' a striker. It also suggests that Mazzari doesn't reckon much to him, with no real background to the comment. Mind you, €20m in Jan doesn't sound too shabby!
This seems to suggest he could be going to Udinese for £3 million. http://www.calciomercato24.com/2017...ronto-tornare-italia-ce-lofferta-delludinese/
A shame if so. I think he's a very decent striker (of his type). Very decent technically and powerful if not the quickest.
Didn't we pay close to €8m for him, allegedly? Of all our forwards, I would say he is the most important to keep. Deeney should move on, Success looks awful at the moment and a shadow of the exciting player who burst onto the scene early season and Niang flatters to deceive. I would say it would be a backward step to get rid of Okaka. The other three are dispensable, however and need to be upgraded/replaced or augmented.
I think he's great and does make a difference. I'm not surprised though as I think he was brought in as cover for Troy getting injured.
