Agreed personal terms and PSG offered more than we did so not quite official yet....but I wouldnt hold out any hopes if I was you.
Julien Laurens of the European Football Show on BT - very trustworthy - says he was told today that PSG are interested but haven't yet made a bid. But yeah, expect him to go there.
I'm sure this will probably happen but we've bid for, agreed terms with, spoken to the agents of, about 500 players this summer if you believe every article and journo. Sorry, just a pet peeve of mine when people don't link to/name a source.
Ya see, now tomorrow's L'Equipe is saying PSG have had an offer of €7m rejected for Benjamin Stambouli by Tottenham, Watford's offer is €10m. https://twitter.com/GFN_France/status/621447160811405312
If theres any truth to that, we must want him a lot more than a lot of us realised. God knows if there actually is... Makes me mildly optimistic though, even in recognising the unreliability of almost every whisper that emerges from the depths of Twitter.
I guess the psyche of a footballer will not allow him to make a move to a new club expecting to only be a squad player. Stambouli will join PSG fully expecting to be a first team regular. Time will tell...
I'm perfectly chilled , thanks. Just thought people might like to see the source behind some comments , as I imagine some use this forum as their way to get information about the club. Hence why I think it's unhelpful to announce things as fact , when they're not.
Good - player obviously doesn't want to come here so we are better not wasting our time on him in the vain hope he runs out of "better" options.
Forcing him to make a decision. Wouldn't be surprised if PSG withdraw interest and he comes back and asks to join. Badu in wings to sign
What a ridiculous point of view ... ambition is everything in football and like it or not PSG have a little more pull than newly promoted Watford.
Yep. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/13423522.Hornets_end_interest_in_Spurs_midfielder/ Could be right about Badu. If he's on hold awaiting the outcome of the Stam situation we can only keep him hanging around for so long.
Could be, or maybe it's as Gino said about another player recently he didn't show enough real desire to come to us so time to move on
Lol - why's it "ridiculous". We've been after him for 5/6 weeks before PSG came along. I'm all for a player taking his time making a decision but I don't want a player who sees us as the absolute last option.
Is it time for Chim Chimeny Chim Chimeny Chim Chim Cheroo Who needs Stambouli when you've got Badu? or should i get my coat?
I wonder if we dropped our interest in Stam in order to get PSG's Jean Christophe Bahebeck as has been rumoured on twitter.
Done deal? translated from a French news article (le Parisian) which was updated a couple of hours ago. "Benjamin Stambouli arrived in New York last night. The new PSG player will pass his medical examination in the day and will sign a contract in the wake of five years. It is then expected to Morristown (New Jersey), the internship place PSG, where he meets his new teammates who played that night against Benfica. Friday night, PSG and Tottenham have agreed on a transfer of € 8 million. The former Tottenham player and the club from the capital had previously officially recorded the terms of their union. In Paris, the former Montpellier will receive € 240,000 gross per month. Speaking with Laurent Blanc, the coach, and Jean-Louis Gasset, his assistant, he was assured of having the time necessary game to highlight. The Paris staff particularly appreciate its versatility. During his career, 24-year midfielder has also been very comfortable in central defense or even right back position. Stambouli is the second rookie in Paris after the German goalkeeper Kevin Trapp. Now, leaders are focusing on Angel Di Maria folder, which should be the headliner of their transfer window. The matter should be resolved in late July, the Argentine player is currently on holiday."
