The dorks that present Breakfast TV wouldn't understand what they ate supposed to describe accurately. The lander is going to make a soft landing as opposed to the deliberate impacts used to collate lunar data ie structure by NASA.

I think they should go for a really f***ing hard landing

Would be great if some of the emptyheads on breakfast and morning TV were on it. Holly Willoughby for instance. Vacuousness personified.

Let’s hope the lander gets a good welcome.

Going by the latest news reports, it seems they've gone for the far less ambitious 'no landing, floating in space like an expensive piece of junk' option:

Polaris Dawn (Falcon 9) has been rescheduled again.

April this year (with any luck). Was sent a technical brief yesterday with changes needed to the launch code which we have about two months to write, test and debug. I really do not know why they keep delaying it, as the start date was green lit for December. We are not told why, but just to keep amending it as needed. I know the people boarding now.

Jared Isaacman; Scott Poteet; Sarah Gillis; Anna Menon

Pretty sure Isaacman is fronting it. Was supposed to launch July last year but was delayed due a fueling issue. I know these things happen but it must be frustrating. At least they are pushing it back and not putting it off totally I guess.

Lander incredibly slow in producing images given that we could follow the Apollo missions with early 1970s tech.

It probably uses the Horizon software that the PO used. Might see the images in a few years.

I read that it tipped over on landing and is on its side.

Should have based it on a weeble and not R2D2.

Starship Flight Test 3, potentially due to happen in under an hour, if weather, range violation and other things align ok...I wouldn't be surprised if it scrubbed today, but you never know.

Crickey, they got it into orbit at the 3rd attempt. Incredible.

So, Starliner's first manned spaceflight got scrubbed yet again today. Boeing just ain't having any luck, I wouldn't fancy going up in one of their planes at the moment, let alone a space capsule.

In other news, it looks like the fourth flight of Starship and Super Heavy could be coming this week. Thursday 6th June is the date in the diary currently.

Well, I think they landed both ship and booster successfully this time. Not bad for a 4th attempt!

Sad, though going by the video it looks like he went out in a way he may have wanted, pulling an aerobatic loop in his single seater plane at the age of 90. Just didn't quite get it right.

Oh do tell more Skyla! What is SHLLV, assuming LLV is Lunar Landing Vehicle?? Does this mean you're def working on this?

SHLLV - super heavy-lift launch vehicle (says Professor Google at least)

UEA is correct on the SHLLV.

It's basically telling me I've been selected with the opportunity to apply to work on the pre alpha build of the new OS. Which I am totally going to apply for btw, chance of a life time. A lot of the selection process is very hush hush so to even be shortlisted is a major honour and I never thought I'd be able to work on the 'big boy' as I call it :). Of course it's not stone clad that I will be selected but being a team leader already of my own team at least shows a) I can organise a group of software engineers and b) I'm respected within my team.

I'll keep you all posted, but I very much doubt anything will be decided before the cut off date of December.

Nice work and well done and good luck too! :)

So basically it is new software for Starship-Super Heavy then? (version 2??) Are you allowed to say what the software will focus on (sorry if you did mention this before!)? Interestingly a lot has been spoken about the software from the ITF4. Firstly how the super heavy booster compensated for the loss of an engine on the way up, but secondly and more specifically how the software adapted to a lots of bits falling off Starship during re-entry and still managing to get it stable when coming down and then relighting the engines for a soft landing, only 6KM off the target zone. So all very interesting indeed Skyla! A perfect case of the software compensating for hardware deficiencies.
