So boringly average that he’s gone way under the radar for how average he is. Has developed the circle running thing that infests our defenders.
Someone who works for TuttoUdinese DM’d me earlier to say there’s a good chance Samir rejoins them this summer
I assume that’s the basis for this article then: https://m.tuttoudinese.it/calciomercato/occhio-a-samir-potrebbe-tornare-di-nuovo-all-udinese-147330
Goodnight sweet prince. We’ll always have that one time he hit an absolutely sumptuous cross field pass from left to right, and had me believe for a just a moment that we’d finally found the cultured central defender we’ve been crying out for.
Well it might be a tricky transfer to get over the line. Perhaps we know of an agent who could, for a large fee, help grease the wheels and ensure this one gets sorted.
It’s just such a miracle the quality centre back we’ve needed for about five seasons just happened to belong to one of Gino’s other clubs, it’s just a shame we got Samir instead.
God knows what the squad will look like next season but sounds like a mix of Cathcart, Cleverley, and a bunch of loans and free transfers.
A shame, as he's our best defender, and a useful asset as a left-footed centre back who's somewhat decent with the ball, but ultimately not a surprise, and if he's not committed, we're better off with someone else
I don't think he ever really recovered from his calamity against Norwich and can't see him pitching into a fight in the Championship. Probably as well if he goes.
See ya. Hate to have been proved right on this one. Said at the time he purely represented another corner-cutting exercise at a dire time of need but I was assured by some that I was wrong.
Wouldn't be a big loss in all fairness. Was good to have a naturally left sided CB though and we will have to get one if he's definitely playing three at the back.
Agreed. Ticks every box but was linked with some higher profile sides, including some on the continent, recently.
I remember that very pass. Who knows, he might have produced more of those if it weren’t for the fact that he gradually realised there was no point, and the ball was coming straight back anyway.
I don't remember the pass but I do remember him throwing himself to the ground for Norwich's first goal in the 3 nil rather than just seeing the ball out of play.
Tbh I dont think he is any better than the other ***** we have as so called defenders. Just need to find someone to take Cathcart now.
Oh I'd almost erased that from my memory! There must be something in the canteen at Colney that turns relatively competent athletes into blithering idiots, almost immediately.
Showed some very initial promise but it soon faded like our hopes this season. Not too sad to see him go. I don’t think his heart was ever really in it, and I’m not convinced he is an upgrade on what we already had.
Another absolute waste of oxygen out the door. Good stuff, until you realise he'll be "replaced" with someone even worse. YOU 'OOOOORNS.
Wouldn’t mind if he stayed - he is our only left footer and has spent most of his career in a back 3. Think there is a good player in there just woefully misused by us. That said, I can see how a return to Udinese would suit all parties.
I agree. He’d be excellent in the Championship in a back three. Perfect fit. For me it would be a big loss to the squad if he goes because it’s unlikely (imo) we’d get anyone nearly as good to replace him with.
