But will your house be worthless on 30 June in a near future year, such that someone can get the keys and walk in?
Today's Sun reports that a deal has been agreed but the player is now waiting to see who our new Head Coach is Don't shoot the messenger lol..just passing on what they are reporting today!
Just the sun extracting their reputation from their own mess, they now have a story in case it doesn't happen
Would be a good signing in my opinion, but I would imagine it means the end for 1 of our current 4 strikers.
Think he got it from: https://twitter.com/footballfan122/status/607915334184669184 which was in the sidebar on the mainpage. So basically it's utter rubbish.
I also read somewhere today (cant find it now) that Gestede has been asked to accept a lower salary should we get relegated, and he is stalling.
Anything under six million is good business in my opinion. Anything above is slightly questionable. If Deeney gets injured next year then we're screwed. I don't think Ighalo and Vydra alone can get us the goals to keep us up. Gestede is the striker we wanted Ranegie to be and more. Real, quality cover/competition for Troy.
Sorry it's a simplistic viewpoint, but personally I think if anybody has to think twice, or even three times, about joining us, and if wages are the sticking point, then I'd rather not have him. As well as the exciting (but unknown) overseas players we're being linked with, I really hope we can sign some established players from the Prem or the best of the Championship. I confess I'd be worried if all our recruits were from European leagues..the 'Iraqi Gareth Bale' etc sound exciting, but so did Paredes, Layun etc and neither of those two have yet really found their feet consistently. But I do find it sad how many domestic players seem to be so 'wage-obsessed'. We're offering Premier League football to the (alleged) likes of Gestede and Sakho..a realistic chance of starting matches rather than on the bench..the opportunity to live and work close to the biggest city in Europe, be coached by a Europa League winner and the chance to be part of something really exciting. If they need convincing, then maybe they're not what we need.
Didn't some of our Udinese/Granada players need persuading? I think I remember saying something like that about Angella
Yeah true but slight difference in that we're PL now, plus the Udinese players had to move country, new language, new lifestyle etc.
Some good players may still need convincing that we're not, as Troy put it, little old Watford anymore. If we continue to progress though they'll all get the message eventually.
I think any player currently playing higher than us in the pyramid would need convincing, it's true. The likes of Flamini, I'm referring too. We could be their final club, and while we all know we're different it's tempting I guess for experienced PL players to look at us as a newly promoted club and comparing us to Burnley, QPR, Cardiff, Reading etc..ie, clubs who've recently gone up only to come straight down again. But if you're a Gestede or a Sakho, ie you've played lower league football all/most of your career, I think you're sad if you only look at wages or doubt the validity of our 'project'. If you're worried about a pay cut if we did get relegated, join us, jolly well play your best and we won't!
This is how it should be. Recently the risk has tended to be with the club, but the player should have consequences for relegation too.
True but Gestede is one of Blackburn's best players. He would have to think hard about leaving that to go to a club where he would likely be 4th choice striker. I can understand why it might be a difficult decision
But if we believe the speculation..which is a contradiction in terms I know..it's the wages that are allegedly the sticking point, not a guarantee of first team football? Teams develop over a season. We started last season with Deeney as our obvious number one up top, and Vydra his supposed partner, but then Ighalo seized his moment. In our last season in the Prem we all assumed King and Hendo were our natural pairing, but Hendo found the step up too great. Ashley rarely set the scoring charts alight either before his move. You'd have got good odds on Bouaza actually finishing our top scorer, admittedly in no small part thanks to King's injury. So, right now, we think we know our strikers' pecking order and chances of each doing well, but sides do develop and change, and any new forward we added might not be consigned to 'number 4'..especially as we have a new Head Coach.
It was a bobbins rumour 2 weeks ago.... http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.u...proach_from_Watford_for_striker_Rudy_Gestede/ http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...al_approach_from_Watford_for_Gestede/?ref=rss ....sounds like more of the same now based on a tweet from some no one on twitter https://twitter.com/footballfan122/status/607915334184669184
Initially but this is exactly what's needed to make a player step up a level. When Zola told Troy at the start of his reign there would be several strikers in the squad in front of him he replied "they won't be in front of me for long". And of course....they weren't.
There's been a hell of a lot of papertalk if there's absolutely zilch in it apart from a Twitter rumor. Could Blackburn be fibbing for some reason?
Here's a theory, it's a done deal. Blackburn fans seem to want a lot more that 5 million for him so Blackburn deny an approach has been made when they've actually accepted a bid in that region, a few weeks later Gestede moves for an 'undisclosed fee' making it seem that they held out for more.
