Almost hope this is true. For Liverpool and Bournemouth to get their knickers in a twist indicates this lad may be a bit useful.

 

Personally think with a few more astute signings, the team will be OK. I know we have our fair share of midfielders but if Behrami leaves I am concerned we don't have a real midfield destoyer to break the play up. Doucoure will do the job but if he is injured I think we will have too much of a soft centre. For me, this kind of player is nearly as important as a new striker.

Well, they could always use the criteria,
Has a premiership team offered him a 5 year contract, therefore guaranteeing work and a wage for that length of time. So as far as work and tax paying is concerned he is sorted and won't be abusing our benfits system. Simply add that if the contract is ended then the WP is rescinded.

Isn't that largely missing the point though? I'm no expert but I thought the whole point of the work permit was to stop sub standard foreign players taking the place of homegrown ones? I'm not sure it's there to stop him claiming benefits once he gets here.

If HG players are good enough they will make the squad and that is what the 8 HG player rule is for anyway.
