Couldn't we of got Ivan Toney for around that fee a few seasons back? Frightening waste of resources but it's not the first time and most certainly won't be the last.

 

Just on Bayo - some of our fans are so weird. There is someone now arguing on twitter with louorns that the fee for Bayo (a transfer with a 3rd party club) didn't really happen because our owners have a history of "massaging transfers". The reason it's impossible is because we learned from the Gray transfer. Odd. Odd. Odd.

 

Don't knock Bayo - the man literally improved by €4.3m overnight on 1st July.

Charleroi bought him of Gent for €1.5m and we bought him off Charleroi the very next day for €5.8m.



Unrelated fun fact: Mogi Bayat's brother Mehdigholi Bayat is Managing Director of Charleroi.

Got to admire Bilic for refusing the toe the party line when Pozzo incompetence strikes time after time. Hopefully Edwards will learn from this when dealing with people like Pozzo and Duxbury. Edwards is a good man.

 

Dale Vince is known for being a bit eccentric, but I imagine he has the best of FGR at heart, must have been a big culture shock for Edwards to move to a club who do deals to curry favour with agents more than to help the team, I suppose Bilic is a lot more experienced and knows how some of those mad owners operate. Also speaks volumes of how little he rated Gaspar, he at least outwardly never denigrated Bayo and Manaj, and even praised them, but he couldn't help but throw a little barb at Gaspar for not being a 'flying machine'...

 

I’d image Edwards, coming from league 2, like the rest of us had rightly never heard of Bayo and Manaj. There was probably also a large element of assumption in his comments that the players he was being given were at least half decent, what with us being a recently relegated Premier League club with players worth tens of millions on the books.

Poor sod.
