We’ll of course lose to Spurs and Leicester in the cup, but I really don’t think he’ll survive too many more sh1t shows like we saw today. The fact he’s mentioning the board understand the mitigating circumstances tells me the vultures are starting to circle.

He’ll get more time than most, and has already even though his results have been pretty appalling, all bar a couple of stunning wins.

If we fail to win any of the next 3 league games I think he’ll be gone for sure.

Call Xisco a PE teacher all you like, the results are significantly worse under Ranieri. The performances were better, but I'm not sure that's the case anymore.

Both dealt ***** hands with poor defensive recruitment and injuries, mind.

Difference is Ranieri has pedigree. Xisco doesn’t.

Gino has nowhere to turn now under Ranieri - the cards are dealt and everyone knows it’s not the coach any longer and it’s all down to recruitment and poor squad composition. This is all on Gino and his henchmen.

We had a laughably poor summer window where some fans thought just getting Deeney and Gray off the books was what mattered.

Certainly have seen really disappointing performances in the last 2 games .

But despite the lack of pedigree, the results were still better.

In the moment, they were, that’s clear. Huge doubts whether that would have remained though.

Each to their own but I’m not sure the thing to be taken out of our current predicament is that Xisco shouldn’t have been sacked or that Ranieri has been poor. But I respect others may feel differently.

Fixtures may have something to do with that. Ranieri has had a shocking run to deal with.

Ranieri has come in too late, just when were about to start the 'month of death'. And he wasn't brought in because we were already playing well, was he? The damage was done when we squandered opportunities against second-rate or out-of-form teams early on, before he joined us.
He has to deal with a squad that is overall inadequate for the Premier League - a good chunk of the players are not good enough and he has so little time to work with them. The fixture list is relentless and Covid has interrupted any plans he may have had.
I think, given the unattractiveness of the situation, we were lucky to get him to take over.
All this is not to say he has always made the right choices or that he is the best possible choice of coach.
But frankly, if he keeps this squad up above 3 other clubs when this season ends he will be close to a miracle worker.

Do think Ranieri is, on paper, a better option, and as he was available and willing, it was probably the right decision to pull the trigger. Just find it interesting, is all.

That was the case, but even comparing results against mid-table and below doesn't read well for CR.

Against teams other than the 'big 6':

    CR: 1 win, 4 losses. 0.6 PPG.
    XM: 2 wins, 1 draw, 3 losses. 1.16 PPG.

Was,always going to be tough with the fixtures Ranieri has been dealt but the last two games sum up the season covid has nothing to do with it , too many defenders are making individual errors and are costing us ,this formation leaves them wide open against the counter attack relieing on our defenders to defend yet they don't engage with the attackers nowhere near quick enough hence dive in or back off and make mistakes with sarr and Dennis missing in January formation needs changing 4231 with the 2 sitting in front off the back 4 and giving them the protection they need ,hopefully with some transfer activity in the defensive area to help out

The performances under Xisco were visibly appalling, though, and both performances and results were on a severe downward trend by the time he left - something every single fan here and, presumably, elsewhere, could see pretty unquestioningly. Just looking at it from points/results doesn't take into account context like the Villa game, which given the minute sample size seriously skews that metric in Xisco's favour. The proportion of games we've played well in under Ranieri is far higher than Xisco, it's just compounded by all the other terrible aspects that are/were totally out of either of their control, and I wouldn't suggest for a second that as it stands, we aren't capable of and even susceptible to playing badly still.

We have also literally seen Claudio successfully influence games with substitutions and tactical switches in the time he's been here - something that Xisco never did once, and showed no capacity to do when he did attempt it whatsoever, either.

Let’s hope the last 2 performances aren’t the start of a negative downward trend in performances.

Guess we can make excuses about COVID and a lack of training along with our ability to make basic defensive errors which managers cannot do much about .

Raineri had been pretty faultless before the past couple of games, unfortunately we have so many issues that they constantly rotate around, and we can’t rule out him having bad days either.

Ultimately he’s still being undone by individual errors though. However bad we were yesterday, give him a semi competent goalkeeper and we probably get a draw. Give him a semi competent CB against Brentford and we get a draw or a win.

We just have two many awful players and the chances of them holding it together and all simultaneously having a relatively ok game are slim to none. There will always be at least one or two clowns ready and waiting to hand the opposition easy goals, it’s just a question of which clowns it is that particular week. It’s just compounded further when Ranieri also has a bad one, which we can’t rule out from time to time either.

I’ve said it before, getting a win with this lot is like trying to match all the balls on the lottery. You need so many awful players to hold it together for 90 minutes it joust hardly every happens.

It’s good to see that the vast majority of supporters are still with Ranieri, however, the last two performances against Brentford and West Ham have been worrying bad and certainly a drop off from previous performances.

I agree with the general view that the playing staff are the problem. I looked at the line-up yesterday and there are not many I would consider being good enough for the Premier League.

Bachmann, Masina, Cathcart, Kiko, Kucka and Tufan. Undecided about Sierralta, but so far the evidence points to him being not good enough either.

So that’s 6 or 7 from the starting line-up, plus the bench was pitiful too. Only Pedro and possibly Louza could be considered potentially Premier League from that lot.

I’ll leave the youngsters alone, but Sema, Gosling and Fletcher are not good enough either.

So from yesterday’s match day squad of 19, only 4 to 6 could be considered Premier League level. Therein lies the problem.

We have far too many Championship level players at the club and the table shows it.

We are incredibly lucky to still be out of the relegation zone with just 13 points from 17 matches.

They must regret hiring a manager with more experience than the Lithuanian U17 team as this might force them to face the realities that their assembled squad isn't close to good enough.

Comparing our previous promotion to this one, there is one glaring difference and that is the squad cohesion and momentum taken through. Our first promotion squad was predominately the same core of players that got us promoted with some decent recruitment investing in key areas and having a strategy to survive in the league. This year we got rid of key players in Hughes & Chalobah who were the core of the team and have changed so much. Our front 3 is completely different, our midfield is completely different and our defence is still the same defence that got us relegated bar Sierralta. Covid doesn't help the situation but i still don't know our strongest midfield, our front 4 picks itself but King is not a striker, I actually thing JP played really well in that position last year and he should be our main striker. Dennis and Sarr on the flanks wouldn't be out of place in the top 6.

Shame we didn’t use our attacking quality in the last 2 games - definitely our best part of the pitch so we should be looking to be effective in that area rather than trying to stick 11 behind the ball and failing .

Good point made that we have to keep changing the back line and midfield each game so get no continuity.

This is kind of my point. Almost throwing away the win against Villa is now Xisco's fault, not individual errors (Masina's dangly leg), but Ranieri is absolved when we drop points thanks to the latest Ekong **** up.

But I do agree with @Chumlax that performances have, on the whole, significantly improved, even if results have declined.

I was happy with the performances up to and including the Man City game, despite the results. In fact the display against Chelsea was superb. However the last two games have been awful. Although we led in both, the ball retention was non-existent throughout. Even if there is some excuse for yesterday, with all the Covid disruption, there wasn’t for the display at Brentford. It was a crucial game and the players seemed to shrink from it. We desperately need a surprise result again now, but it’s difficult to see it happening.

As manager obviously a lot of the buck has to stop with Ranieri, but against Brentford and more so WHU it genuinely looked to me like the players knew we’d concede and almost just wanted to get it over with. We have been such a shambles in defence and made so many defensive errors they just don’t have any confidence in their ability to the point it’s like they purposefully tank once we go ahead.

The only viable solution I can see is new playing staff who have the ability and the belief in their ability to actually be able to prevent the opposition scoring against them. I really don’t think there is much Ranieri could do with the current lot, he could try all the coaching and motivational techniques in the book with them, but would any of them honestly believe him and be able to see out 90 minutes without making at least one horrific clanger? I don’t think there is anything anyone could do or say to get a coherent 90 out of all of those lot at the same time, they know it and he knows it.

Thing is, Gino’s painted himself into a corner with this appointment. The day we hired Ranieri it was the lead sports item on the 10 o’clock news for goodness sake. Sack Papa Claudio now and the brouhaha after sacking previous head coaches will seem like a walk in the park.

Plus frankly I think I might have reached my limit if we bin him.
