Nicely done. Works on both levels, given that Cathcart has the mobility of an oak tree. That said, I’d still pick him over WTE, because at least it’s harder for him to get lost when he can’t move.

We’d be comfortably mid-table if Ranieri had been here all year. We’d be top of the league if he had one competent central defender.

I think Ranieri could be here longer term if Gino and Scott do listen to him. He has an eye for a player but is currently hampered by injuries and what is available defensively. We know he is keen on the young Romanian winger but many of his buys at previous clubs have become real success stories.

Those at the top have to understand by now if we can get some players in at the back we have more than enough firepower to stay up. The players look hungrier, more determined, work together as a unit and revived. They have direction at last. That is the difference between a novice like Munoz and an old hand like Ranieri.

Claudio needs to hold his hand up here. Louza for Cleverly or even Tufan admittedly with a huge caveat. Pedro for Cucho would have been the way to go or indeed Tufan and Louza for Cleverley and Kucka.

He must know what we cannot sit back and sit back and win games. That was what the plan was after we scored. No thought of getting a second. The problem is we don't have Franco Baresi at centreback but WTF.

Was it the plan? If it was, it was a ham-fisted one, I thought we were looking to attack them, but just lost the midfield to such an extent that we couldn't get up the field

Oh Claudio, Claudio, why do this to us man? Why give us hope, only to throw it away so easily? I almost miss us ambling around under Xisco, at least then we were all pretty resigned to being relegated

Ranieri is a pragmatic coach. He loves defending leads. Sit deep if need be, narrow as well and switch the attacking wingers and tuck them in and move side to side to which flank the opposition are attacking. Problem is just look at our defence.

The quality to actually carry it out is not there. Both CBs when they have the ball think they have a grenade at their feet. No bringing it down and calmly playing out or a long pass or in behind. It's HOOF. We also lack the speed in midfield aside from Sissoko and Louza to cover the centre adequately. Louza was missed.

I really think Claudio thought we could sit on the lead and snatch one on the counter but we just handed the winkers the advantage by not even pressing any attacks.

WTF is hopeless as a sweeper, a man marker at anything that needs work defensively. Cathcart is barely passable. Kiko is the best of the lot at present.

Gino needs to look in the mirror and say he has made a **** up. All teams with a degree of success to them are solid defensively.

I didn't feel that was the plan. To replace a defensive midfielder for an attacking one, Ranieri wanted a second goal I think. But all that did was lose the midfield even more. We went backwards because we couldn't get hold of the ball anymore.

Unfortunately Louza is dogshit and cannot be trusted. Mogi Bayet palm grease with out entire Sumer budget. Pozzo is a disgrace.

It was a shocking mess. Hope we pummel them at the Vic. No mention made of the fact of our own extensive injury list but bloody hell Toney this Toney that. Canos this Canos that. DaSilva this DaSilva that.

After the effort and determination against the Chavs and Abu Dhabi to capitulate like that to a bunch of mediocrities and the long haired **** on the sidelines was appalling. No polite clapping from me.

His last two games have been excellent Jumbo. His initial start under Munoz was poor. Why he was dropped is a mystery. The golden rule is always pick players on form and never pick WTF or OAP.

What's he done wrong since coming back into the side? Excellent against United and Chelsea, not good against City, but that's hardly a damning indictment on him is it? Kucka looked out of puff almost from the get-go, for me Louza still has more than enough credit in the bank to be starting ahead of him whenever available

I like Ranieri but pick WTE and Kucka again and he will lose my support unfortunately. Its so frustrating as we were looking decent against top opposition and I really thought we would progress onwards and upwards. This performance was probably our worst of the season... astronomically terrible on all fronts

He gets pulled at half time even when playing well. He may be good one day but spending our entire budget on him this season is unforgivable.

To be fair Jumbo we barely had much of a budget. I think he may still have fitness or stamina issues but his recent performances have been excellent. The OAP today was shocking from the get go. OAP cannot play a full ninety. I think he expended all his reserves in the game against Villa.

Claudio will have a real job to pick them up after the efforts against the Chavs and Abu Dhabi. Still no sign of a sports psychologist though.

Louza was £9m Smudge. Like I said got nothing against the boy, but surely instead invest that in one full back and centre back on loan would have been more productive? I can’t stand Pozzo. He does not have our interests at heart.

Ranieri is the man - and while I admire his belief that everyone can contribute.....they really can't. We know Sema isn't anywhere near good enough. Troost has surely put the final nail in his coffin. Kucka just too damn slow.

We have to win at Burnley now... Hahahaha no chance.

Tonight's defeat is on Claudio I'm afraid. Every substitution was wrong. He weakened us and it was inevitable we would lose. Poor reading of the game. So we've gone from gallant losers against the big boys to pathetic losers against teams we should be competing against. Southampton and now Brentford. It's not looking good.

Actually it's at the Vic. But right now the venue doesn't matter. We will continue to falter each game and win an odd one to get all our hopes up and then sent back down to earth. Watford FC in the Premiership.

EDIT: Nope sorry you are correct - it is at Turd Moor. Latter point still stands.

After 2 decent performances against opponents that were far superior we go and do that.

Kuco was abysmal as Ried’s mentioned about WTE scanning against Leicester it’s basics you expect from an international footballer

I have a general tendency to not watch much football when Everton are playing crap, so I've not watched much at all of Watford since Ranieri took over. Just the first two games really and we'll leave it at that.

    Have things improved at all?

We did look better and more organised but with our defence the team will always struggle.

Mind you some subs tonight didn't help.

His substitutions tonight were baffling and picking the likes of Kucka and that pile of **** Ekong even more so, but it's hard to lay too much blame at his feet when Pozzo and Duxberry have left us so disgustingly weak and incompetent at the back.

It's nigh on impossible to win games with these defenders. There's only so much anyone could do when you've been given almost entirely Championship or worse level defenders to try and get a tune out of at Premier League level. They're all just pathetic.

How long has Ranieri got before the inevitable bullet?

    P 9 W 2 D 0 L 7 F 14 A 21 Pts 6

His record is as poor as many of the others just before we sacked them. QSF record for example was: P 10 W 1 D 4 L 5 F 7 A 20 Pts 7

When you consider Flores' record included an 0-8 defeat at City, to have conceded more goals than his reign in fewer games is quite remarkable.

If we lose the next two, I think he'll be under a lot of pressure. I hope we stand by him, but I don't trust the board. They get twitchy far too quickly and we all know how they react. I can't see too many games like last night being tolerated.

If we don't get points from Burnley and/or Crystal I don't think Ranieri will see 2022 as our manager.

We need to look at the performances under Ranieri not the results as we all know our defence is poor and have to set that aside .

Out of his 9 matches we’ve had 5 decent performances in relation to the opposition . Liverpool hardly counts as he had had no time to work with the squad at that point and I didn’t see Arsenal personally so it’s mainly Brentford and Soton that have been disappointing . So way too soon to be talking about sacking .

He got it wrong vs Brentford but I’m hoping to more if a bad day at the office and we can rectify it vs Burnley . He’s shown enough for me to suggest he can get a lot out of this squad and he should be allowed to give it a good shot.

If they do sack him and it's certainly possible given our history, I shall do the following:

    * Write a letter to ****sbury and Gino, not that they replied to my previous one.

    * Boycott the games until they leave ( as I did with Bas.)

    * I have long been in the COG camp but the last three years have been a flimsy reconstruction of other errors.

    Time will tell...
