Ofcourse we don't want it in any form of life but if there was a group made up simply of black players surely that could only increase tensions between the relavent parties?

Also is any form of personal abuse right...or is being racist much worse than anything else.

I see the Ferdinads have commented their disappointment on the recent events which is fair enough but should everyone try to be more united?

I don't think any anti-racism group Rio Ferdinand is part of has much credibility. "Choc Ice". What a c*nt.

Ferdinand is the biggest racist in this whole affair and is trying to drag all black players into his pit of bigotry and ignorance.

The whole idea is unbelievably offensive. During the time Ferdinand has played football racism in English football has been increasingly negligible to a point where 99.99% of football fans do not even notice the colour of a player's skin - let alone judge them on it - yet wants to trample over 60 years of black rights by bringing back segregation to vindicate his pathetic little argument with John Terry, who is equally prejudiced and moronic.

I suggest that Ferdinand should be segregated from the rest of society so he can live out his introverted life away from everybody else. The fact he actively wants to make people consider the colour of a player's skin is just incredible, and I would imagine that black players in the 70s and 80s who had bananas thrown on them would probably find it quite offensive too.

Hopefully the whole football world can unite around a loathing of Rio Ferdinand and his selfish drivel.

Is not just Ferdinand though is it..a lot of black players like Jason Robers have been making a fuss that enough isn't being done about the "problem" of racisim which as you with fans anyway isn't really an issue in Britiain...

Mind you they only spoke up after John Terry didn't get the same ban as Suarez - if Terry had been banned for 8 games would a fuss be made?

Ofcourse the whole situation kicked off because Anton Ferdinand make some verbal insult to Terry first and in typical footballer style he insulted hin back.

As I say any form of abuse should be rooted out of the game really.

What I would like to know is where do they have a problem of racism?

Is it on the pitch from other players – surly they should take this up with the PFA as all players are members and then onto the FA.
Is it abuse from the stands – the clubs and FA need to deal with this
Is it what is happening in other countries – harder as we have less control/influence over FIFA etc.

If an individual does not make an official complaint each time they feel abused then it will never get resolved, other than the two big cases from last season does anyone know of a complaint of racism in recent times?

The main idea seem to be to make sure black people in football get a chance to become managers/coaches but again how can it be proved clubs aren't picking them just because of their colour?

The point isn't that black coaches aren't getting appointed as managers because chairmen are racist but that the system is flawed in some way which discourages black players from moving into coaching and undergoing the various qualifications needed in order to do so.

It can't be denied that there is a problem there given the difference in the amount of black players and black coaches/managers over the last 20 years or so.

I don’t understand – are you saying that black players are not doing the training to get the required qualifications because they will not get jobs? That is a bit self fulfilling isn’t it?

So you need to compare the number of black players who gain qualifications for coaching with the population of all people with the qualification, not just all those who played but did not bother to gain the appropriate qualifications to then get a job in coaching or management.

I don't think there is a massive problem with rasism in this country. It's not to say more things can't be done to educate morons like the Aaron Cawley's of this world.

It sounds strange, but I don't even notice the colour of a player. Of course I'm aware, but it doesn't register. My favourite ever Watford player is Luther, second favourite is Barnes, it's because they were great players. That what most people judge players on in this country.

All clubs have black players, and this is why there is little racist chanting. I think players have to take a long hard look at themselves though. Why would John Terry even have the word "black" in his vocabulary when swearing. It's bizarre. Why would Ferdinand go on Twitter and laugh at a choc-ice comment. It's this type of behaviour that needs outlawing and rather than the public. Players need to be educated at how to behave.

J.B - Thanks for explaining the problems.

Still not sure how they would feel just being put on a list without much chance of getting a job - not many new managers of whatever race are given a chance really thesedays.

Its often the same old names...I know with Rodgers/Dyche and Malky we have been a bit different.

I think HB1 is right - the players are more a problem potentially with their comments on and off the pitch.

Fans do give verbal abuse but its not always personal unless its somebody like Leeds or Millwall or some very bitter set of rivals.

Its usually just stuff like your not very good/no support with the swear words added!

FromDiv4 and wfc4ever - I have no idea why the amount of black footballers who go into coaching is so much less than the amount of white players, it could be anything.

However, the fact that such a gulf exists would suggest that there is a major flaw in the transition of black players into coaching which is not present with white players. It's something which definitely needs to be looked into if there is any chance of rectifying it.

I believe that sterling work has been performed in combating, if not entirely eliminating, racism in football.

Things have certainly come a long way in a few short decades. For example, I recall loud monkey noises aimed against opposing players at Vicarage Road on many occasions in the past. Even, incredibly, when we had Barnes and Blissett in our own team.

There remains however, a long way to go. I was fully supportive of the players refusal to wear 'kick it out' shirts at the weekend and find the condemnation heaped on them by some white people, such as Alex Ferguson, to be frankly hypocritical.

I don't think white people can possibly be in a position to properly understand the insidious and damaging effects of racism and would therefore be wise to refrain from criticising.

A point was made I believe in the shoutbox on Tuesday - would you stop supporting Oxfam when there is still poverty in the world? What more can Kick It Out do? They don't have the authority to impose bans on players etc.

I agree with what you're saying, but they aren't promoting it well at all. My initial thoughts were "how can you give black people priority?" as that's discrimination against others. By all means encourage them to do there coaching badges, but please don't tell me they'll "prioritise" black people. It should be the best candidate gets the job - regardless of creed and colour etc.

Chelsea complain clattenberg used innapropriate language - some of it racial.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20119340

Not much info at the time of wrtiting but I find this extremely hard to beleive - how cou you be so stupid to make any sort of racist remark in this climate as a referee?

Heard this on MotD2. I can't believe it either, and it's probably Chelsea's attempt to take the heat off John Terry. If it's true then Clattenberg is finished in professional football, but like I say, I find it very hard to believe.

  32. J.B

If Clattenburg did racially abuse a Chelsea player and used the term only once then surely by the precedent the FA has now set he should be banned for four games, fined and nothing more?

If he has said what he is supposed to have then he should be found out pretty easily given that whatever he says over the course of the game goes straight into the earpieces of the linesmen and the fourth official.

Be no excuse but wonder if the Chelsea players said anything to him personally abusive too?

    "Heat of the moment" etc...

i'm sorry but the idea that Terry was guilty before any process (Ok, me all saw the video) but Clattenburg just can't have said these things is a joke. Why would Chelsea or Mikel lie? Not exactly difficult to disprove is it?

Unless it's Terry, or another canunt, then they just can't be guilty. Chelsea MUST be lying ...
