    Hello Watford.

The Holmesdale fanatics have helped improved the atmosphere at Selhurst and on the road, Lots of the mainly older palace fans were not keen on the idea at first but they are now part of the Palace fabric. They are very approachable and happy to talk to other fans. Sign up and have a chat. http://www.holmesdale.proboards.com/

No boasting from me after yesterday, We could easily be swapping around next season. Good luck.

Just make the best effort you can to get as near the middle back of the rookery as possible. I know its not perfect, but its the most realistic way.

Keep the green street wannabe pr1cks away and you'd certainly attract a lot more attention.

Before anything happens we'd have to establish said group.

Ill stick my neck out. I've dabbled in a bit of music and have the means to create something from scratch. If we can't decide on something already out there we can create our own.

If it is something people are interested in I can have a go and maybe run some tune ideas through here. Though I'm no lyricist so any wordsmiths on here feel free to contribute if the interest is there.

This is it exactly. The Yellow Order were stuck either in the top right or bottom left of the Rookery, both ridiculous locations. A singing section can't go where they belong behind the goal in the Rookery because it would upset existing ST holders, they can't go where they would have the most impact, which is next to the away support, because the Vic End fans would literally wet themselves if they had to move again.

If the club really want to better the atmosphere with a dedicated section, then they need to upset some people to do it. Short term some will moan and whine, long term it really MUST be done.

    Look at the stars
Look how they shine for you
    And everything you do
    Yeah they were all yellow

    I came along
I wrote a song for you
And all the things you do
    And it was called yellow

So then I took my turn
Oh what a thing to have done
    And it was all yellow

    Your skin
Oh yeah your skin and bones
    Turn into something beautiful
You know you know I love you so
You know I love you so

    I swam across
    I jumped across for you
Oh what a thing to do

    Cause you were all yellow
    I drew a line
I drew a line for you
Oh what a thing to do
    And it was all yellow

    Your skin
Oh yeah your skin and bones
    Turn into something beautiful
    And you know
For you I'd bleed myself dry
For you I'd bleed myself dry

    It's true
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for you
    Look how they shine for
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for you
    Look how they shine

    Look at the stars
Look how they shine for you
And all the things that you do

How about the Lower Rous? I know it's open to the elements and far from ideal but it's better than nothing at all.

I've got a prime ST seat at the moment, Rookery behind the goal 2/3rds of the way up the stand but if I had to give it up for The Fourth Stand and helped generate an atmosphere then no problem.

I love Watford and I don't begrudge people wanting to not stand up or sing but honestly, there are sh+t teams with no prospects who generate a better atmosphere than Watford yet we've actually got loads to be singing about..

Exactly right. I hate to go back to this but it needs to be done, but it seems very obvious that the Holmesdale Fanatics would've had to ruffle the feathers of some bottom-right Holmesdaler regulars who didn't like what the Fanatics were doing. The Fanatics simply got the backing of the club's owners and stayed there. They didn't buckle or anything. Now, whilst they still do get a bit of criticism, they've got much more praise from not only within their fan base but also nationally and internationally.

It's clear that next year the East Stand will not get done and as such any singing section would either be in the Rookery or the Vic Road end as trialled in the Cardiff game. Personally, if it's going to be in the Rookery, it should be in the middle. I know it's a prime location for many to be in with the best view of the pitch, but it would also be the best location where everyone in the Rookery can hear the songs being sung. All I'm saying is that something needs to be done now and as much as it might (actually knowing our lot it will) anger some people, in the long term it would be better.

The Vic end makes so much sense.

Baffles me that you put a family end next to an away end.

Send a PM to hollywood and willa - 2 users on here - they've had pretty extensive chats with people at the club in the last couple of years and can fill you in on where the differences arose.

I know it's an on running joke, but I kid you not, there were quite a large amount of people around me that were singing to 'Yellow' yesterday.

I'm not sure whether Hollywood would want to be active in this any more after what happened with the YO (can't speak on his behalf though). Besides he never dealt with the current owners. Willia did though so he would be the first guy to go to.

I'm not suggesting he would however if anyone has an idea of the problems that can be encountered running such a group he would be the man to speak to. Before people get all idealistic and think its simple, y'know?

Well for starters I'm not trying to go on about how I know it all but just trying to offer some perspective I'd anything this time round is put forward to the club.

Ultras - dont use that god damn word. Especially with new continental owners, pretty sure it means a whole different thing out there.

Standing - pretty sure the club has a duty to stop people from standing during games, suggesting to them a singing area where we can 'stand' is probably a bad idea. We can just sing sitting down ;)

Suggesting to move any other fans to move is also a bad idea if you ask me, just establish 'ourselves' in the currently most available area then (assuming) the family area gets moved to the east stand when that's done just take over our end of the Vic.

The best place to start is just to find out how many people would do this. The club aren't even gonna look twice unless we have a 'petition' per say.

  22. UEA_Hornet

    UEA_Hornet First Team Captain

I believe the club offered the Yellow Order the lower right of the Rookery - most members refused to move. And the Vicarage Rd End has a big flaw in the eyes of some in that there are no alcohol sales and so long as it is unreserved seating the club won't (or aren't allowed to) allow people to move from that stand to other areas to buy a beer and then return.

  23. NortholtHorn

    NortholtHorn Reservist

Really? People pick there seats based on a half time beer? I never buy beer at half time. By the time you've got one it's kick off again? Not trying to sound sarcastic it's just never been something that's crossed my mind.

I would seriously try again of I knew I had the blessing of at least 1/8th of the attendancees.

There is only so many times I can take getting the pis5 taken out of a group that I try and get going.

If you want a singing section, we can have one, pretty easily aswell......but.....and this is a deciding factor.......we are not used to a loud atmosphere at the vic....it takes time to get used to, and get great at.....time that 80% of fans are not willing to give to me.

Give me time, I can make it happen.

This will never be a solo effort it will take a shedload of work as well as a potential trip to a studio for a selected few if we want crowd chants. If I'm going to do it I want to make it right and I need all of the constructive input I can get

Hollywood, every single person I know who supports the club wants a better atmosphere, and after what happened on Monday the iron is about as hot as it's going to get. If it can't be done now then it'll never be done. Run a poll on this site and I guarantee it'll be more than 1 in 8 mate.

    Do it.

With the Pozzo's settling in as owners, they may be more approachable on the topic now than any other owner in the past, and they may be more interested in developing supporters culture than prior owners have been. Also, great point UEA made about the unfinished stand and the need for flexibility to find a home for those who may need to be moved to make room, but now is the time to start putting the bug in the Pozzo's ear and setting up a vision for supporters at a Vicarage Road in the future.

It is crucial to have a core of people sitting together, and to have the blessing of the club and overt support of the players. Once you get people together in one place, you can start riffing on chants and songs to see what catches on and what doesn't. You don't have to have something unique, either although that is nice. Simple is better...things people know get more people involved.

Also, a cross stadium chant is always awesome to hear and not hard to get coordinated simply by doing it each game at the 15' and again at the 60' or something like that.

So much potential and so many possibilities!

There you go dead easy, not even any words to learn, just do the chorus........

LAAAAA, LA LA LA LA LA, LA LA LA LA LA, LA LA LA LA LA, LA LA LA, LAAAAA, LA LA LA LA LA,.............AND SO ON!!!

Can someone post a you tube, or some sort of track of Crocodile Rock on here; for people who may not be familiar with It?

If we are going to create lasting songs and chants, such as "West Ham's Bubbles or Liverpool's "Never Walk Alone", they need to generalised and not mention players, owners or managers names, because as we all know these people are going to change over time, which would make the song go out of date. The only way around that is to have interchangeable chants, songs etc. When new names can be fitted into existing chants i.e "super super ????" whoever the player is at any given time.

However for an anthem, reference to peoples names must be left out as it must remain permanent, and it must be short and simple; the chorus of a popular existing song by Elton for instance, or any other existing song, with the words unchanged, and that is not necessarily connected with football YET!!! Until it becomes our anthem that is!!!
