Has anyone who entered the ballot to attend had a response either way yet?

I genuinely couldn't care less if Andrew French live blogs it or I have to wait 24 hours to listen to a recording. I get that there's a desire for all news 'as it happens' but this doesn't seem to make a blind bit of difference overall.

I was vehemently against the way things were conducted last season but given that French is going to have a full unedited transcript and the thing is going to be posted for anyone to listen to, does one day really matter?

 

The most troubling thing for me is they’re going to allow potentially grandstanding or tedious follow up questions. Why can’t they just ask a main question and then forensically follow up on it with a professional questioner to get to the answer? Instead we’re going to have fans v fans most likely, as some will want to divert the topic to their chosen pet interest. Sigh.

 

Which podcaster will be the one to bring up ‘access’ to players this time and how many minutes will it take them I wonder?

 

If I do attend, I'm absolutely representing this forum.

 

What is needed is a moderator in the Fiona Bruce role to prevent this, but I haven’t read anywhere that this is going to happen.

 

This whole thing is rigged, everything about it is set up to ensure nothing too deep is unearthed.

I hate how these fan groups all of a sudden mediate between the club and the majority of us. Why should the Trans Orns, Sharia4Watford or teen youtubers get priority ahead of the rest of us for this event?

 

Have they definitely said unedited? Sounds to me they want a few hours to hack the thing to bits before releasing it.

 

I think I read that they would remove anything obviously commercially sensitive/libellous but given that Andrew French has been quite clear on Twitter that he wouldn't post anything of that nature either, don't think it makes any difference.

I have a high bar for 'commercially sensitive', hoping they do too...

 

Questioners' egos and lack of preparation are the biggest threats to getting anything useful out of it. Difficult to avoid though without locking down who can ask the questions (which of course they'd get criticised for too).

 

Not at all in terms of substance, but it gives the image of one set of fans who are deemed more important to get immediate access. And that is the podders who are guaranteed to get in because they "represent" a group of fans and admittedly a few token bods who win the random ballot. It's just a dumb move.

All that said, I don't really care what Pozzo has to say, I think he and Duxbury will be highly evasive and I'm still not convinced Pozzo will turn up anyway, but if there is one thing that winds me up as much as Pozzo, it' self important social media people who thinks they are tier 1 and privileged! (see those awful Rob Edwards interviews last season)

The problem is who is that professional questioner? I agree it's going to be fragmented as soon as the original question has been "answered" by Duxbury with a mixture of bluster and half truths, and people start sticking their hands up.

 

Trust me the amount that Peter has put in to get this to the end point I doubt there is anything more to gain from it from a social standing perspective. He's been given more obstacles to get this done and still got it finalised.

Let's hope it'll be worthwhile.

That is why I am so surprised at this own goal. Maybe the block doesn't come from DNSYE. As you say those guys have put a lot of hours into getting this done, so I was very surprised at such an obvious mistake which is going to get fans' backs up and lead to a backlash before it's even begun.

 

Depends I guess. I was under the assumption that there are 80 odd people going. If it's the guy that seems to have done most of the organising from DNSYE, and one each from the other groups that have helped him, plus 75 fans from the ballot then don't see a problem with that.

If it's every one of Rookery Mike, Jon, Tom, **** and Harry plus the full cast list of DNSYE Twitter space and a handful from the ballot then I'll wholeheartedly agree with you. If they open up and say 'over to Wendover Horn for the first question' whatever device I'm listening on is getting chucked straight out the window!

 

Would be interesting to hear what has changed since this comment, especially as Andrew French seems to feel quite affronted and used at being cut out of proceedings.

All the suspicion expressed on this thread is a function of the disillusionment of our fan base, resulting from the way we have been treated by the club. It’s very sad.
