Obviously not a great source, but the commentator of Switzerland-Ecuador just was talking about the players and said that Paredes is a Watford player. Maybe its been confirmed in Ecuador! Or he's just seen the rumours..
You would assume he's seen a team sheet which has their club sides listed on it maybe? Or maybe he just reads this forum. In that case - Hi Sam, I think you're a really average commentator. Please never work with Phil Neville as I don't think the Samaritans could handle the volume of calls.
On a lighter note, how bad are Switzerland? They could have Abdi playing for them. Almen Abdi. Think about that.
Irish TV commentator has indicated that he signed for Watford earlier this month. Maybe it is a done deal and the press have the info from the Ecuadorian PR people.
He goes walkies from the right back position a few times but looks like he'd have far too much energy and pace for Championship full backs if he played as a wing back/winger.
I get the feeling he is playing out of position and I don't think he would have been signed to play RB even if it is an option
Partly at fault for the winner, he went walkies and was nowhere to be seen as the Swiss had 2 players to cross it in.
He was well out of position for that, going for it in the final minutes and what a sucker punch. Even the attempt at professional foul was an epic fail
Seen enough to convince me. He's definitely a bit green tactically and in terms of decision making, but he's only ever played in Ecuador where I imagine the coaching isn't particularly professional. Certainly a player we could improve considerably.
It's been reported as a done deal in a couple of places, just not officially confirmed yet. ITV might have got their news right from the Ecuador camp for all we know. It must have come from somewhere, that's for sure...we're not the sort of club that has ITV paying attention to every little rumour.
Not convinced based on the two games I've seen so far. Has pace and energy as has been mentioned but appears suspect defensively - was caught out of position a couple of times and made a few rash challenges - and doesn't create anything going forward.
I'm afraid to say that despite being played at RB, his wandering upfield and his subsequent lack of tracking back when Ecuador were dispossessed in the final minute meant that the rest of the Ecuador defence were painfully exposed, and there was only going to be one outcome. If we do sign this guy, I hope to god we play him as a winger and not a right back. If we don't, I can see us conceding goals for fun along the right flank.
The Swiss obviously did their homework on him and knew that he defensively isn't great because the whole game they targeted his side.
