OFFICIAL: Juan Carlos Paredes has signed a 5-yr deal with #watfordfc, subject to the normal international clearance Yay! Although I'm surprised that we're loaning out Faraoni (if the rumours are true). I'd rather we sold him tbh and get some money that we can put towards clearing our debt.
Like for like replacement for Faraoni. Would like to know why he signed first for Granada. Hope it's all legal!
There's nothing wrong with it. Will have been done to bypass any economic impact on FFP restrictions. Means the outlay out of WFC as an entity is solely reduced to wages rather than paying the transfer fee, which in this instance will be footed by Granada. A player can be transferred however many times but can only feature for a max of 3 sides in one season as far as I'm aware.
Do you mean as in Udinese's and Granada's debt is our debt as well and all three clubs have merged into one? Cos I'd say differently. We're still independent clubs with independent books. We've still got debt whilst the other two don't (IIRC).
- Faraoni wanted to be back in Italy, he hopes to play in Udinese under Stramaccioni (who knows and rate him, I read) - selling him now (there was interest by 4-5 minor serie A teams) would lead to a transfer fee much lower than it could be in 1-2 years after some good seasons - substituting him with Paredes who comes for probably a simbolic fee (just enough not to be suspiciously low) doesn't weight on WFC budget - Paredes is probably happy to come in England, knowing that with a good season he can reach Premier either with Watford or with a transfer in future, he seems the kind of player who might do well in Premier and probably would receive a lot of interest (hell! from rumours Juventus was interested but arrived late!) - WFC might sell Paredes in 2 years from now (hopefully after a good season in Championship and another good in Premier) for a large transfer fee after buying him for almost nothing - Granada might not be happy? Not really! Granada this summer is going to receive some huge transfer fees for the selling of Siqueira and Brahimi. "Unfortunately" they made the mistake of buying a player who immediately said he WANTS to play for Watford and they had to sell him for a lower transfer fee than they just paid. Oh well ... that's a minus in the richly positive budget of this year, so less taxes to be paid! :naughty: Of course there are three independent teams and books. And this kind of things allow to use at the very best all the options from being a "triad". :sign13: I think it's all simply BRILLIANT!
This The fact that GP used his Granada bank account to buy a player for (possibly) several million quid, and then pass him on to Watford for free couldn't make things any clearer
Fair enough. Yeah on a practical sense it's all muddled into one, just on a legal sense (which is why I said books) we're technically not and have to maintain it that way. Lord knows what Gollum/Meldrew/any other prat says if they find out otherwise
Looks a good signing. Another very quick player. Will he settle in to a different country and very different culture? Only time will tell. Roll on the start of the season.
Yeah I'm pretty sure this would fall into the same category as say for example Forests owners sponsoring there club with a deal significantly above the average sponsorship deal and would be. Can't think of the terminology. Fair Value rule I believe?
Disappointing that we have signed him permanently from Granada I'd rather we signed him directly from Barcelona Its my only complaint against the Pozzos COYH
We didnt see much of the attacking side of his game in the WC as he was plainly following tactics to defend with discipline as Equador were usually the underdog. Am looking forward to seeing his reputed pace and overlapping skills. If he can cross as well, that would be a vital input into an area where we are a little weak. If he is fast as we re led to believe, the thought of him, Dyer , Anya and Vydra breaking on the counter with Tozer and Abdi delivering the key pass would be quite some spectacle.
Good to have this confirmed unsurprisingly came via Granada as they've brought money in through player sales. Glad we didn't have to sell any of our in demand players to fund the move. We really have an exceptionally good squad for the season ahead. COYH
Great news, and he can play right across the back four apparently, so hopefully he should be a fantastic asset :sign15:
Interview with him up on the watfordfc.com: http://www.watfordfc.com/news/article/140717-paredes-colney-chat-1763779.aspx Some nice comments in there. I particularly liked the comment on looking to integrate with the team first and foremost, and the closing line: "“I promise everybody - I will leave everything on the training field, and on the pitch.” Good man.
Sorry it was in jest - i could easily have named 20 others! - This is Doyley would have been a better call than you
Surely Granada are going down next season after getting rid of there best players and just scraping through last season?
